”Doesn’t like me?” The mere thought that they almost had a legal shit show because the dumbass didn’t like him almost had Adam going insane. ”What the hell for?!” Adam cannot recall ever doing anything to the dragon to gain its ire but whatever it was he’d apologize for it.

It was better than having to deal with what they just went through. ”Just make sure something like that doesn’t happen again!” He growled, because if it did they’d probably be in a whole world of trouble, way more than just a knock on the head by a fake sword.

Getting back into their roles and playing this off as if it was all a part of the show almost sounded impossible but the duo managed to get their act together.

”Ah but that was just a bit of my power! My next blow will be the last, villain!” He played along, blocking the blow from Noelle however he barely managed to do so as the strength she put in it took him way off guard. Especially compared to how little care he put into blocking her blow. It was just one thing after another huh?

Soul was incredibly uncomfortable about this whole situation and was honestly ready to call it quits and not deal with any of this. But if his trainer was still in the game then he supposed he was. Luckily the dragon was apparently playing along now which would make things a lot easier.

The Lucario made dodging the crunch the look close and retaliated with an Extreme Speed and sure the Lucario might have moved extremely fast the blows that followed were nothing more than taps. ”

You couldn’t have picked any other dragon of yours for this role huh? Had to go with the one with anger issues?” As he spoke he swung the sword towards Noelle in a manner that would make it easy for her to block it.

Admittedly the bird was a bit surprised to see the dragon do something that required some sort of wit. If it wasn’t for the fact that she so thoroughly thought this bug was obnoxious she might’ve complimented it, but alas this was not the world they lived in.

This storm was annoying but Cinder had a feeling that she could get around it. More importantly she wanted to test herself, see how she could perform under these sorts of conditions. It was practically impossible to tell where the bug was in there so she decided to strike where she was familiar with.

The bird took off and much like before as her speed increased her body burst into flames as she dived into the storm in an attempt to strike true once again. But unfortunately this time the bird missed, coming out of the other end with nothing to show for it but sand in her feathers. Annoyed, she’d try again and again until she either hit the dragon or got tired of doing this.

With Kyle and Mateo taking care of the enemies outside Adam beelined it straight for the center. Once inside he was greeted to by a blast of flames, barely managing to dive out of the way. He had only barely caught a glimpse of the Pokémon that attacked him, a Magmortar.

Despite this being the epicenter of the entire incident the interior of the center wasn’t in complete shambles. And with the way that whoever was in here had things set up like barricades and cover they could be here for a while. Another blast of flames was flung toward the silver-haired male, this time he ducked behind cover.

And to make matters even better the Magmortar wasn’t alone but was in fact joined by its lower stage, Magmar. ”Hydro Pump!” Gyarados was most certainly too big to fit in here but the Pokémon was able to aim a blast of water through the entrance, dousing the Magmortar.

As for the Magmar, well Adam released his Garchomp who swiftly took out the other fire Pokémon. With that problem dealt with the man stepped completely out of his cover, now it was time to find the mastermind.

”The entrance and lobby are all clear! It’s good to come in!” Adam would call out to the others. Adam would then have Soul search the center for life signs, and pinpoint the one belonging to a human out of the group.

”Soul’s got a lock on the target. Follow him and we’ll be able to bag our guy.” And of course it wasn’t going to be that simple; one step into the next hallway and another blast of flames came straight for them, compliments from a Camerupt.

”I’m getting really tired of this shit. I think we can get around if we use that doorway. Someone want to distract the big lug while the others go around?” He asked. Their target would be hunkered down in a room just right past the Camerupt preventing their advance.

”Oh?” So this was the reason why she was here? It definitely was something up her alley and made sense. The tale she told was endearing, the man even felt bad for this little dragon that he had never met.

Maybe if more people were like Noelle and gave it a chance and helped work out whatever sort of problems it had there’d be no need for her to come all the way out to a place like this for some soul searching. But it was always nice to see and hear about situations like this, really showed that Noelle was the real deal when it came to dragons.

”Nice of you to give the dragon a chance. Especially given that it took a nice bite out of you.” Adam was honestly more worried about the dragon in that situation; Noelle’s a tough girl she can handle much worse than a lil ole dragon bite no matter how hard.

”No better place to forge a bond than a secluded cavern like this. Installed with its own meditating waterfalls and everything.” He joked as he watched her release the little dragon. It didn’t take long for Adam’s expression and outlook on the whole situation to change.

Now Adam’s been around for a while, seen his fair share of things and taken care of his fair share of Pokémon. He could tell the difference between a Pokémon just so happening to have a face filled with murderous intent and actually being a teddy bear and those that meant.

And this little devil would definitely make Adam a snack if it could get away with it. But it was a puny little thing that was definitely more bark than bite but jeez this vibe Adam was getting was bad. ”There is no way I’m petting him. I like having all my fingers.” And he would not be swayed on that.

”Regardless, hey there little dude. Name’s Adam.” He’d also introduce his Pokémon to the little dragon as well. ”How long have you had him? And no idea what might have caused him to be so.....angry?”

Adam smiled at the capsule, another capture gone smoothly. Focusing now on Noelle, Adam supposed he could never say that girl wasn’t at least optimistic about her romantic situation which he figured was nice?

Well, at least that’s the way he was going to look at it for the time being because otherwise it just looked sad to him. But when people are being stubborn and persistent or willfully ignorant things like this were going to take fifty years anyway. And who would want to go to that wedding? It sounds like a good way to get eaten or blasted by an unruly dragon.

”Yeah, yeah I know. Though I wonder what it as doing in here anyway.” A question that was never going to get answered of course but it was still on his mind nevertheless.

As far as Adam was concerned Noelle wasn’t as bad as a certain other members of this dragon clan when it came to her weird Mateo obsession but that was a can of worms that did not need to be opened right now. ”Suuuuure you’ve got other reasons.” Adam scoffed. He was a bit surprised that her family hasn’t someone to grab her ass and drag her back to Johto.

Before he could ask her who exactly this person was that she wanted him to meet a Blastoise popped up from nearby waters, giving them a rather irritated look, which Adam figured as a result of all the noise they had been making since they got here.

And boy did this turtle look incredibly pissed, to the point that Adam was sure it was going to attack them. ”Hey there big guy, how about we take it easy for a second.” Before Adam could go any further his Garchomp released himself from his capsule and flung himself at the Blastoise.

Adam only blinked as the Garchomp and Blastoise went flying into the water. ”I swear that boy never learns.” Adam sighs, watching as the result of his Garchomp and the Blastoise fighting was a series of eruptions and splashes in the water.

Kanē burst out of the water, flinging a now KO’d Blastoise on to the ground beside Adam, a triumphant roar following. ”Why do you have to stress me out all the time.” Ever since this dragon was a little Gible he’s been a handful but at least this time there was a reward out of it.

”So who was it that you want me to meet?” Adam asked, throwing an empty capsule at the Blastoise.

Adam left the apartment, helping the civilian along, only to be greeted with a giant hole in the wall and everything being on fire. The man examined the beautiful mess in front of him before calling his two fire Pokémon to his side.

”Alright, Ma’am. My Arcanine and Infernape here will escort you out of the building and somewhere else.” He said as he helped the woman get on top of Prometheus’ back.

”Take good care of her boys.” Adam would add, giving the two Pokémon a nod as they then escorted their charge out of the building.

With them out of the way the only thing to deal with now was the last person held up in here and the flaming pile of bugs. ”Damn dude, you really want to burn this place down huh?” It was all jokes and games but it was a bit concerning how big that fire was.

That aside it seemed the Vespiquen was the key as it looked like many of the bug types was dispersing. Adam figured if anything else came up that Kyle and Mateo could handle it so he went with his Lucario to find the last person.

They were hiding out in their apartment, reasonably terrified for their life but were eventually calmed down by Adam.

”Alright gang, that’s everyone and the bugs seem to be clearing out so job well done!” The building was in shambles but it could’ve been worse.

The Knight scoffed at the woman’s words, shrugging them off as a knight would. ”Your threats are hollow just like your heart you vile villain!” The knight retorted. Adam was rather pleased; they were putting on a good show all things considered. Sure they were definitely way off the script at this point but Adam figured this was more fun.

Show people something that they weren’t used to, give them something fresh. The only thing about that is the fact that it’s quite easy to freeze up and forget where you’re going when you improvise too much without some semblance of a plan when you get going.

And just as everyone was going smoothly it’ll all soon go to shit. Sure they were supposed to be dueling but it was supposed to be a fake fight. Throw some moves out here and there and someone would take a dive and then the story would conclude, with Adam as the victorious knight who saved the day of course.

But of course, it couldn’t be that simple! Noelle’s crazy dragon decided to blow the ground up. Luckily no one was severely injured and Adam and his Pokémon managed to get out of the way in enough time.

He had no idea as to whether or not the people watching them were safe and that was a problem. Without much warning the man let his anger out on Noelle, whacking her with the fake sword on the top of her head. ”ARE YOU NUTS?!” He roared.

”What if someone got caught up in that and seriously hurt, huh?!” If he didn’t have any self-control he’d be choking her out right now. ”You’re lucky I got out of the way of that! Control your Hydreigon! The damn thing looks like it wants to eat all the kids in the fair and go blow up a hospital just for shits and giggles!”

As the maleficent and tyrannical Dragon Empress terrorized the denizens of this fair kingdom a knight was speedily approaching the scene, on top of a most trusted steed. Shortly after making a declaration that she’d claim the kingdom in the name of clan and country the knight made his triumphant debut! He appeared almost out of thin air!

His steed having gotten them there in a flash! The knight then leaped off of his trusted steed, landing in a most graceful and stylish of pose, his cape blowing in the wind. To his side was one of his most faithful companions, his Lucario.

”Worry not!” The knight exclaimed.

”For I have arrived to accept this wicked conqueror’s challenge!” He stood up brandished his mighty fake sword, the tip pointed toward the would-be conqueror.

”And end their reign of terror and bring about peace!” When he realized who exactly it was that he was dealing with Adam did not break character in the slightest, it was what he was here do to do and he was having too much fun doing it.

And all of this was improvision, they were way off-script as it was so he said to hell with it, he was going to have some fun.

”Steel yourself my trusted companion!” The knight’s warning was a cue for the Lucario to use Swords Dance to prepare itself for a fight. A mock, pretend fight but they had to make it look cool and powering up for a fight always looked cool.

”Despite her appearance she’s quite the dangerous foe! That evil dragon of hers will end us in an instant if we’re not careful!” Soul nodded at Adam’s words, ready to fight.

”As this will be your last day on this earth you vile fiend do you have any last words?! If you have none then Have at thee!”

Cinder had watched this trouble Vibrava and all of his antics. She found it rather amusing, especially how clearly the dragon thought that he had nothing to worry about. Because what was there to worry about? Nothing could reach him where he was right? No one could fly like he could, right?

And that is where the bug was wrong. Now Cinder wasn’t hungry nor did she really care that this was what the bug was up to, she just wanted to mess with him. So she decided to show the dragon that there was someone around here who could not only keep up with him but surpass him in terms of speed.

She waited for the Vibrava to get preoccupied with his horde before she struck. And like a speeding bullet, she went, going straight for some of the dragon’s stash. To matters even more interesting the bird’s body burst into flames, zipping straight on by and claiming her prize. Whether or not the food got burnt in the process didn’t mean much to her. She’d land on a nearby tree, the flames around her body dissipating. Cinder would then look over to the Vibrava, the smuggest look on her face.

Adam shook his head, now what was he going to do with this one? ”You know you’re talking to someone who has way more experience than you when it comes to romance right?” Adam laughed. ”Unlike you, I’ve been in my fair share of relationships and I know how to tell people how I feel and as they say “get the girl”.” He shook his head again.

”Honestly it’s more likely that you’ll end up all old and alone! No one in the world to share your life with cause you chased after someone who was more interested in cuddling up next to a Drampa than you.” He teased, leaning back and resting on what he was assuming was the cave wall.

He rolled his eyes at her next remark. ”Yeah okay, whatever you say, princess.” He scoffed. His balance suddenly left him as he slipped up a bit. ”What the hell?” Was the floor wet or something? No that wasn’t it than what in the world caused him to slip?

He looked around before turning his head and seeing a face staring down at him. ”ARCEUS JEEZ!” He jumped, turning around completely. ”How long was this ting just standing there for?!” He shouted, pointing a finger at the Alolan Exeggutor that he had been using to support himself.

”How the hell does something that big just sneak up on you like that?! Man, you gave me a scare there big guy!” Adam laughed, and the grass type seemed to find the situation pretty funny too. This Pokémon looked extremely out of place here, didn’t seem like the right sort of environment for the poor guy.

”Hey there big fella, wanna tag along with me? These falls don’t seem to be the greatest place for someone like you. We’ll have plenty of laughs, what ya say.” There wasn’t a response for a while, the Pokémon just kept the same face.

Adam looked to Noelle and shrugged before turning back to this apparent dragon Pokémon. ”I’ll just take that as a yes.” And he tapped an empty capsule on the Pokémon’s body in an attempt to capture it.

”So did you actually come all the way out to Hoenn just for these falls or are you here for other reasons? Maybe Mateo related reasons?”

”Well this was easier than I thought it was going to be.” Adam remarked, Gyarados taking out a large flame in their path with a blast of water. It was suspicious that they didn’t run into any sort of complications getting to the center.

Sure the flames looked to be organized a certain way but there was nothing maintaining them in the event that they died down, so was it really man-made? Shit was getting more bizarre the deeper they got into this mess. Or Adam was thinking way too hard about all of this which was entirely possible.

He was taken out of his thoughts when he spotted a part of the ground in front of them shifting and breaking apart. What popped out was a bit of a surprise, a Gabite. ”Well, that’ll explain why we haven’t found the culprit who’s been starting these flames.” But the dragon wasn’t alone, not only did more Gabites appear in different spots but other Pokémon appeared as well and they were all fire types.

”The whole gang is here huh? Now, where’s the boss pulling the strings?” The group of Pokémon spotted the trio, and of course, this meant a fight.

”Okay boys here’s the update to the plan. Pretty obvious whoever’s pulling the strings is hiding out in the center but we’ve got to get through these goons first.” Adam cracked his knuckles.

”Let’s make this quick.” The Gyarados at his side fired off another Hydro Pump, this time keeping the blast going as it moved the attack to the side to catch more targets. ”Either once they took them all out or had an opening they’d make a break for the center.

”Knowing Mateo it probably has something to do with dragons.” Adam responded, spending more time than he should thinking about it. ”Well there are three of us so many it stands for three dragons? I dunno.” He shrugged and laughed it off.

With the so-called Dragon Master at the top causing all sorts of mayhem they’d give the bugs no-where to run in the whole complex without running into a moving wrecking ball. Great, this should clear them out a hell of a lot faster. But damn were there still more bugs than Adam expected to be infesting this place.

Shortly after Kyle’s update was told to them and their objective was simple. ”Alright, great! We’ll get moving.” A Flame Wheel from Arcanine cleared the way as the moved.

Soul directed Adam’s group to where the bugs were holding their prisoner captive. And much to Adam’s surprise they were actually holding the person captive in their own apartment. The place was filled with Ariados and the poor lady who lived here was all tangled up in webbing.

Sun and Prometheus fended off the spiders as Soul and Adam charged for the cocoon the woman was trapped in. ”Don’t worry your dashing knight has come to save you from this horrible insect nightmare!” Adam would say once they freed her of the webs though one look at adam and she was having second thoughts about being free.

”Alright boys, one hostage free! There’s one more left and we can start really cutting loose.” Adam spoke into the earpiece, alerting the other two of his progress.

Adam was glad the other two were here. More hands on deck meant they’d be able to better handle this crisis. Soul gave the Vaporeon a slight bow, the Lucario’s way of saying thanks. ”I’m glad to see you two.” Though Mateo looked like he needed his own help. ”Alright here’s the situation. Big ass fire starts near the town’s Pokémon Center. Then more fires started springing up everywhere and no matter how hard we try shit’s not dying.” He explained.

”We’ve evacuated everyone and the local firefighters are doing their best but seeing how the fires keep springing up I’ve got an idea.” Adam would point in the direction of the Pokémon center.

”I’m going to where this whole situation started to check something out. Something’s not right about the fire over there.” He released his Gyarados, the Pokémon was going to be needed for this. ”Shit looks like someone built a big ass fence around the center made out of the fire, definitely ain’t natural.” Adam said, giving his reason for his suspicion.

”I think the locals can take care of the other flames while we look into this. Might be able to put an end to this faster than this never-ending on and off game.”
