Adam only smiled at Mateo’s response to his taunting but he did make a good point. Adam didn’t know Mateo to be the delicate and gentle type, no, there was actually a good chance the guy might blow the fuck up out of the building.

His smile disappeared as he actually entertained the thought. Nah, there was no way things would get that out of hand right? Right! So Adam threw that worry away and moved onto the next thing.

He took the earpiece offered to him and put it on, waving to the Eevee as he did so. Thought he was bit concerned about Mateo bringing a baby to a job like this but given who he was talking about Adam had a feeling Mateo didn’t exactly think this was going to happen.

”Each take a floor huh?” Adam looked over to the building, taking count of all the bugs he could already see and just thinking about the hundreds more that were a problem inside.

”Hmm those odds don’t seem that bad.” He joked, releasing two more of his Pokémon. His Infernape and Arcanine would be perfect for this job along with Soul. They’d be able to tear through the hordes of bugs.

”Think Kyle might have a bit of point there.” Last thing they needed was for the Eevee to get devoured or something. ”Might want to pull out the bigger guns for this. No offense to the little guy or anything but Don’t you got a dragon for this? And as long as you don't completely destroy the building who cares? Besides, we can just blame it on a bug.” That’s what he was going to do at least.

Anyway, they were burning daylight and there were people to save and bugs to squash. ”Alright gentlemen! I’ll be taking point, head for the top floor and clear you two a path through the front!” Adam exclaimed stretching a bit and then cracking his neck as he headed towards the apartment building. Any words at this point would fall on deaf ears, he was going in.

”Good luck and stay in touch!” He’d wave before turning his focus completely to the building. One last look at the exterior before he kicked the door open revealing the horrors inside. Adam was greeted to a dimly lit lobby that looked like a hurricane and blown through it.

Furniture and debris littered the floor as all sorts of different bug types crawled all about. Whatever they were up to was much too important as they didn’t even flinch at the appearance of Adam and his Pokémon.

”Soul say hi to them will ya.” The Lucario fired off an Aura Sphere into the swarm knocking some of them into the air. And that caught their attention, which meant they were now in attack mode.

”Pro you’re up.” The Arcanine stepped forward and let out a booming roar scaring off many of the bugs. Those that remained were going to be dealt with the fun way.

Adam and his Pokémon charged further into the building, tearing a path through the bugs and into the stairwell, fighting their way towards the top.

Alright everything went south and now it was time to bail which was no sweat off of Adam’s back. Honestly the biggest take away from this was now he could put a big ass Jynx that was probably trying to kill them via death by a happy ending no asked for on his list of weird ass shit his seen.

Seriously he was no prepared for this at all. Well the more distance he made between himself and this abomination of nature the better. And much like the others Adam dipped, following the rest towards the exit. Honestly if he had no beforehand what was on this island he’d have suggested just nuking it from orbit.

Adam released his Lucario; there was something on his mind that he wanted to check. He directed the Pokémon to use his aura abilities to check the building for any sign of human life. The only issue with this order is that the pure amount of bugs might make it hard for the Lucario to pinpoint anything else.

”We are the professional exterminators.” Adam replied, sighing as he did so. Oh boy Mateo was definitely going to love today’s job, whatever issues he had with bugs they were definitely going to get worse. Luckily Adam had to issues with this particular type of Pokémon.

”Oh there you are…wait a minute. Why in the world would even bother using a bug type against a numel? Sounds like you just set them up for failure.” As soon as these words left his mouth the man paused, shook his head and waved a hand dismissively. ”Forget I said anything.”

Soul had finished his search, reporting back to Adam with a rather worried look on his face. And it wasn’t particularly great news; there was a complication they were going to have to deal with. ”As much as I’d love to burn the place down we’ve got a bit of a problem.” He said, turning to the other males.

”Soul picked up some human life signs in there, they were hard to pick up but so far he picked up on at least two people.” Adam explained, rubbing his neck as he did so. ”Alright boys looks like we’ll have to go on a search and rescue!” This whole scene felt like a movie, Adam was pretty jazzed about it when he thought of this situation like that. ”We've got to Dive right into the heart of the hive and find the source of these bugs and take it out! Unless the big bad Dwagon Master is afraid of some creepy crawlies. It’ll be okay you can sit this one out if that’s the case.”

To Ashes [Mission]

Chaotic was the best way for Adam to describe the scene. Fortree was on fire and this fire was consuming everything in its path and it was spreading incredibly fast. People were frantically running about either for their lives or to help another. Finding the origin of this disaster wasn’t pressing on Adam’s mind at the moment, helping people getting out harm’s way was.

He had just finished up assisting with the local firefighters in clearing out a building. With his Lucario at his side, it was easy for them to locate anyone who might be trapped and needing assistance getting out. Despite all this effort, the situation didn’t seem to get better.

But they had to identify what was causing this fire and get to the source of it. Something about this seemed rather fishy to him. Despite all their efforts the fire just continued to escalate so there had to be some reason for that. Where had the fire started? He remembered hearing something about a building towards the center of the city, a pokemon center, exploding which started all o this.

They told him it was bad but he didn’t think it was going to be this fucking bad. A job had come Adam’s way to take care of a building that had a bug Pokémon problem. Seemed simple enough, he figured that it would be nothing more than maybe a couple of Beedrill hanging around or maybe Spinaraks and Ariados, some cute Combees would be nice too.

But instead what he got was some sort of nightmare hell scenario where the place was completely overrun with the damn bastards. They were crawling all over the outside and a huge variety of them as well.

Adam only shuddered at the idea of what it looked like on the inside. Sweet Arceus have mercy on this boy he was going to be eaten alive trying to tackle this but thank heaven almighty that he wasn’t going to be alone.

”I was prepared for a lot of shit today guys but this was definitely not one of them.” He wasn’t even sure what to make of this fiasco. What in the world could have gathered this entire bug Pokémon to one place and why here of all of them? They were going to need a really big can of repel.

Not only did they have to deal with this giant ass nightmare of a Jynx but now there was a timer on them to get this shit done faster.

”Alright Soul let’s take care of this shit before things get worse.” At least they all had the similar idea of getting this shit done real quick so they wouldn’t have to deal with it anymore.

”Aura Sphere!” Adam ordered.

His Lucario then released an AURA SPHERE toward the barrier of ice that blocked them from exiting the stage to fuck with the Jynx and her dumb song.

Adam wasn’t sure how many times in his life he’s taking an electric Pokémon’s attack point blank and honestly he didn’t want to know. At this point he should definitely get checked out for it before next thing he knows he has some sort of brain damage and all those jokes people like to make will be true.

”I’m glad my pain is funny to you!” The silver-haired male growled, whatever anger might be “there” was quickly overshadowed by a smile that followed after. ”Well I guess it’s better that nothing’s going on then there being some sort of turmoil.” He said in reference to his home region.

”Mateo?” The man rubbed his head as he thought. ”Uh I think I might have saw him not too long ago. And he was the same as ever too, nothing ever really fazes him!” He honestly wondered how many of these people would be okay with putting a tracker on him to know where he is at all times.

Adam would keep that thought to himself, he honestly didn’t want to know the answer to that. ”But let’s forget about him! How about you and I get out of here! Go do something more fun! Maybe some food! Getting zapped definitely gets me hungry!”

He wasn’t completely sure how he should be feeling about the fact that they couldn’t find anything in this closet. On the one had it pretty much proved that there was some ghostly other worldly shit going on and they weren’t crazy but at the same time that meant there was some ghostly other worldly shit going and that was anything but good.

Honestly, at this point, he wished it was nothing more than a prank some elaborate shit that was being pulled by some annoying yet craft kids. Hell Adam would give those kids props for it but that didn’t seem to be the case.

Francie, what a nice name! And Adam would tell her that if, just like her, he didn’t feel that cold chill. ”Not again!” This time it wasn’t going down the same way, oh hell no! This time Adam and Soul were going to fight back and take it to these god damn ghosts!

”Soul can you sense anything?!” The Lucario focused despite the chaos that was going on to try and find some sort of scent to track. Soul let out a bark, signifying that he had something to track down. ”Alright! I’m following you! Let’s do this!” Adam and his Lucario took off.

”Come and get it you ghost bastards!” The man shouted as the duo ran through the building. He wasn’t paying enough attention to where it was he going all he knew was that their trail leads them to a room in the back of the house.

”Oh fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucccccck.” When they came to a stop they were greeted by a rather “friendly” bunch of ghost Pokémon who all looked ready to beat the shit out of him and his dumb dog.

Adam had a shit eating grin the entire time, she was so easy to bait. But hey at least it was for the greater good. She didn’t HAVE TO KICK HIM IN THE LEG THOUGH THAT SHIT HURT WHAT THE HELL! ”Jeeeeez, was that really necessary!” The man laughed as he grabbed his leg and feigned a serious injury.

”Fine, fine! Go fight the damn lizard!” Now that was more like it, that was the spirit that he loved to see outta her. All anyone really needed was a bit of a push and they would be gold.

And she did a pretty good job all things considered; he wondered why she was hesitant before. Wasn’t dealing with dragon types her whole thing? Maybe there was some sort of pressure and anxiety pushed on her due to her position?

Sheesh, this whole dragon family was filled with a bunch of weirdos who were going to be the end of him. But hey he was asking for it he supposed, he loved hanging around them it was never a dull moment. Though having a nice relaxing day would be nice, maybe he should hit up the beach or something soon.

”Finally caught onto it, huh?” Adam smirked. ”Maybe next time you can skip the leg kicking.” He laughed.

”But I never hear or see that oh what am I gonna do! sorta shit from you again, alright?! You’re a dragon! Not a scared little baby.” The two Pokémon that he could see nearby them didn’t interest him any at all.

It would have been nice for her to run that by him before volunteering him to put one of these kids into the ground. ”Wooo! What a great prize.” The man rolled his eyes and lazily rotated his finger about to show his “excitement”.

They really had no idea what they were getting into but Adam wouldn’t say anything and for now would just let them be surprised when the time came. He couldn’t go full out on any of them, the goal wasn’t to break them and that would definitely look bad and probably lead to jail time or something.

”You did great.” Adam smiled, finding her reaction adorable. ”You’ve got a knack for this sort of stuff I tell ya. You should have more confidence in yourself, seriously. ” Though he wasn’t going to let her off the hook just yet, Adam was going to have some more fun.

He’d watch carefully as all their little students did their mock battles, making sure he’d pick the right ones for the “reward” at the end. But there was going to be a bit of a twist, something Adam had thought of as soon as they started these mock battles.

”I know battling me was the ultimate prize but there’s going to be a bit more to it than that!” Adam smirked at Noelle before continuing.

”Instead of just fighting me you’re going to be fighting the both of us and we’ll be picking two winners!” See now that was going to be more fun and would teach her a lesson before pulling a stunt like that again.

”What’ya say princess? Sounds like fun right? Don’t you guys want to see the Princess go all out? Show you what she’s got?” Now that he had them all fired up it would be hard for her to bail out on this one.

Adam was more than happy to help Noelle with her training, especially given the Pokémon that needed said training. Dragon types were always a handful and it was made worse whenever one had a shitty disposition like her Nero.

Honestly, Adam felt bad, the girl did nothing but shower that thing in love but only got a bit for her troubles. Granted, any Pokémon that was like this needed more than just love to fix the way it was acting and Adam would show that. A little tough love was required every now and then and Adam wasn’t sure the girl really knew how to do that.

The girl really couldn’t make up her mind which made Adam smile. ”Alright let’s get this show on the road then! And I wouldn’t dare take Blackthorn’s Dragon Priestess lightly!” He took out the capsule belonging to a Pokémon that would be more than familiar to the girl, and with a toss, the Pokémon was released revealing it to be his Garchomp.

”Kanē let’s give our little friend here a good demonstration of what a dragon’s true power looks like.” The man smirked before realizing that he made a poor choice of words given the circumstances.

”But this is training alright so don’t go overboard!” He quickly stated, making sure the Garchomp didn’t do anything crazy. The shark dragon was, of course, disappointed that he couldn’t go all out but after seeing that his opponent was a little dragon he understood what was going on and smiled instead.

”Oh jeez man maybe you need some training on listening.” Adam shook his head as he noticed the grin on his dragon’s face was a devious one.

”You can make the first move, Noelle! Show me what you’ve got!” His words were followed by Garchomp taunting the little dragon in front of him. Motioning for the dragon to “Come at him” with his claw.
