the sons of a battlecry

[attr="class","starrytext"]taking the lead. he'd hum a tune of joy. as they traversed onto the island and through the sand. he had a good feeling about this mission. as mateo walked foward, he began to sing aloud a nursery rhyme from when he was an adolescent boy living within blackthorn:

"we're the marching dragon!
chomp, chomp, chomp!
we're the mighty dragon!
roar, roar, roar!
breathing fire over here, fire over there!
we're gonna eat you up!
snack, snack, snack!"

he wasn't much of a singer, but so what? they were gonna go beat up a new dragon! he believed this so-called "siren" was the work of a new pokemon. they were gonna get in, he was gonna catch it, and they were gonna find the missing people that never returned and head back! a piece of cake!

or so he thought. "i hate this!" he cried aloud. "i hate that!" he shouted. their opponent was an ogress, a monstress, the queen of beasts herself: jynx. "i hate all of you!" he exclaimed. he felt he was lied to. what even made him think that this would be the discovery of a new dragon?

mateo fell onto his knees as tears poured from his sockets. he'd call haxorus to the FRONT. with a mighty roar, mateo ordered haxorus to use TAUNT upon jynx.

kyle has learned to ignore and tolerate the nursery rhyme and let his friend play if out. he'd prefer it if someone else was to comment on it so he doesn't have to. he probably judged the song so much that mateo's ready to defend it for everything he can to say about it.

they eventually wander inside the jynx's lair, trapped inside by her abilities. fingers shuffled through his pokeballs to find the best choice for the incoming battle, only to freeze up for a moment, taking a moment to judge mateo's initial reaction to it.

kyle was in disbelief as he watched mateo call out a haxorus instead of one of his main pokemon when he saw the jynx.

"you have a charizard! there's no reason to--" he stops himself, taking a deep breath to calm himself down. "actually, nevermind. good job."

he releases a houndoom. maybe he can somehow remedy this through type advantage alone. it starts to get cold, and kyle doesn't like cold. he positions his houndoom at the back left. if they have someone that they don't need dying, it's probably the houndoom. kyle doesn't want his dog dying when they have idjits that send dragon-types out against ice-types.

"get ready."

the houndoom uses nasty plot as he hypes himself for the incoming encounter.

The island itself was a welcome site by the time they arrived. Aramis had tired of seawater and rocking against the small little dignhy. He removed himself from the small paper bag that had been gratefully provided for him and stepped off the boat.

The journey was relatively uneventful, save for the singing. He had never met Mateo Martinez before, but he wagered that his singing contributed to his seasickness. Which made his exclamation all the more poignant as they arrived to meet the largest Jynx he had ever seen. If he were a stranger to dynamaxed Pokemon, perhaps he would have had a different reaction. But right now the only one he had was gratitude to the end of the songs.

“Yes let’s begin.” He spoke coarsely, clearing his throat. “Come our Guinevere.” He spoke, as he launched a pokeball from his belt. A Gardevoir positioned itself to the right of the party. As the Jynx advanced slowly towards them, his Gardevoir imbued the area in a pink glow as it unleashed MISTY TERRAIN.

Adam caught himself humming along with Mateo’s nursery rhyme, not because he wanted to but because that shit had gotten stuck into his head. Every time he caught himself doing that he cursed to himself and prayed to whatever gods above that the song didn’t actually stay in his head for long.

He had heard it so much in the past that it was driving him a little nutty. It also didn’t help that Mateo can’t sing for shit and he didn’t care. This had to be some form of torture right? If it wasn’t, it should be classified as one.

When they finally got to the lair of the Jynx the sight of it was a heaven-sent as Adam was ready to get to work. At least that’s what Adam thought at first until he saw the size of this damn thing.

”Dear mother of Arceus, what the fuck am I looking at.” He had to be dreaming right? Adam was starting to feel like he had just stepped into someone’s really creepy fetish dream and he wanted fucking out of this shit. Even his Lucario which he released was completely bewildered by what exactly they were looking at.

Adam was snapped out of his temporary horror by Kyle who was commenting on their friend’s choice of Pokémon. ”Hey man don’t be too hard on him. Remember he’s a bit slow.” The man joked, but given their situation that really was a bonehead move by Mateo.

Either way, they were going to have to work with it but with Houndoom and Lucario they should be fine, fighting this abomination was going to be a piece of cake.

Adam takes the BACK RIGHT position across from where Kyle and his Houndoom stood. With Mateo in the front and Aramis nearby, they would be fine. Kyle and Adam's positioning gave them a good enough of a spot to jump in when need be.

”Alright Soul, let’s get ready for showtime.” In response to his words his Lucario used SWORDS DANCE to ready himself for battle.

"ah. . ." haoxrus began to turn red in the face. "oi, haxorus, you okay?" she was hit by a lot of rocks just now. "oi..." she was somewhat focus, but not fully. it took him a bit to put two and two together, but it was clear that jynx did something. regardless, he'd give his next order, "PROTECT!"

The appearance of the giant Jynx only perturbed him more as he realized this was not a regular Dynamax situation. "Drat." He commented, as he felt his Guinevere fall into a crush with the behemoth Jynx. Though there was nothing to be done, it would just make attacking more difficult. As his comrades proceeded with their attacks, seemingly with success, Aramis would have to reconsider his position. THe hail of ice blanketed both himself and Guinevere, who, being a psychic type, was not particularly fond of physical moves. Numerous ice shards dug into her skin, causing lacerations on a relatively unprotected surface area. [break][break]

Attacking the Jynx would not be the most prudent approach, he could tell that his Gardevoir was reluctant through her Telepathy ability. SO instead, he focused her on not inflicting harm on others, but creating a safety net. Generating a prayer, Gardevoir began to incant, as a gentle light emanated from within her chest horn. "Guinuvere, use WISH." Aramis stated.

As he did, a single, lone star rose into the air, within a moment's notice, it would crack, and release a stream of healing energy for whoever stood under it.

With all of the chaos that was happening Adam almost missed the change in environment as the confrontation developed.

That along with the stench of what Adam could only describe as being some really cheap shitty perfume made for a rather unpleasant situation, but that was stating the obvious.

”Soul back up geitz. Use Aura Sphere.” The Lucario moved to the FRONT along with the Houndoom and fired off an attempt to fire off an Aura Sphere.

The Jynx was a boisterous untangled tower of angry woman that reminded him of his ex. She was not as fat nor as puffy, but personality wise they were similar enough. Only one of them had the decency to not hang Live Laugh Love frames on his otherwise beautiful mansion. And the singing, he could not tell if it was worse than Mateo's, but it's song definitely cursed his ears upon hearing it.

"It's going for a Perish Song! We need to take out it's barrier!" Aramis yelled, attempting to forewarn the others, having had some experience with Dynamaxed Pokemon in Galar. "Guinevere, Moonblast!" The singing it seemed, cancelled whatever affection his Pokemon had for the blonde and red monstrosity, as Gardevoir canceled the energy from her MISTY TERRAIN, collected the remnants of its starry mist and folded it's aura between her delicate hands, transforming into a large, glowing, pink sphere of energy. "Hoooooo!" It exclaimed, as it released the blast outwards, generating a vivid, pink cannon of mystical energy towards the booty rocker.

the perish song came, putting them in a timer to finish the entire ordeal. aramis says to break the barrier of ice, which makes sense. kyle deems it to be the most reasonable choice.
