A Johto native who was once a distinguished and outstanding battler who retired from his life of competitive battling and eventually ended up in Hoenn, Adam Shepard now mostly takes on ranger work and helps a friend in Fallarbor run their business or is out training. [break]

Oldest child of his family having 6 siblings.
Took on many regions’ leagues earning quite the fame and notoriety especially for his tactically efficient and brutal style of battling which barely left an opening for his opponents to breathe or respond. One of the nicknames he got stuck with was the Silver Dynamo for his overwhelming battle style.
Had a rather nasty attitude and rebellious nature which made him not the most popular among his peers and even less so with government types. Was most definitely put on a watch list at one point. Despite this tho he always had a silly side to him.
Did a 180 in attitude and outward appearance and is now considered by most to just be some goofy, helpful ranger guy who’s good at handling Pokémon. Took him a while to turn his bad reputation around.

WHAT THE LEAGUE KNOWS[break][break]

Helped fight against Rocket during their attempt to take Johto.
Does a lot of volunteer and ranger work often assisting in the training and care of league Pokémon as well as teaching new recruits on the proper way of raising Pokémon.
Hard to pinpoint as he always moving from place to place either doing ranger work or training. If not he can be found in Fallarbor Town.

WHAT ROCKET KNOWS[break][break]

the only thing rocket might now is his involvement during the invasion of Johto. Outside of that I dunno just some random ranger dude.

PRIVATE[break][break]

Has connections to the hundred devouring family. Good friends since childhood with that group of nut-jobs. Despite his jokes, he loves them.
Strived to become a strong trainer, practically becoming obsessed with it due to his father’s inability to reach his own goal due to a health complication he fell under when he was younger. His competitive nature with his friends and rivals helped push this along as well.
Sent most of his earnings back to his family in Johto, rarely kept much of whatever he got and even to do this day still does so.
Lover was killed by a rocket member during their attempt on Johto which sent Adam on a rampage in which he tracked down and killed the person responsible. Didn’t stop there, made it his mission to make rocket pay and would go out of his way to destroy rocket in any way he could. His rampage led to himself almost becoming a target by Johto's own league due to his unruly nature but calmed down before any action was taken.
When he snapped out of this anger he disappeared for some time to collect himself before entering the public world again. Keep this part of his life secret from those who know him.
Terrified of the idea of ever getting this lost in his own anger again.

Ah yes, welcome to the Shepard dojo! You must refer to Adam now as Sensei and bow whenever you meet him! Having Adam teach someone the ropes will be a lot of fun so I’m def down for this. Outside of battling and training, he can give plenty of tips and advice on how to be a better ranger and maybe drag her into his shenanigans.

”Right, right. Whatever you say.” Sheesh this girl was nothing but a handful. Adam wasn’t sure what to do with her! Maybe that’s why Mateo often rejected her, didn’t want to deal with the headache.

Smart guy, though Adam would be lying if he said there wasn’t something endearing about this knucklehead. Honestly the mere thought of it brought about a mix of emotions ranging from annoyed to loving.

Perhaps her handling of one of these new wild Pokémon would yield less stressful results. Adam’s blood pressure could only take so much before he’d end up in the hospital from a heart attack.

And running towards the Gabite without much of a word wasn’t helping either but at least the man trusted that she wouldn’t do anything dumb this time. Her interactions with wild Pokémon might be a bit strange but there was something endearing about it that made Adam smile as he watched her interact with the Gabite.

Though there was something off about this, she was hesitating? Adam figured she’d be all over this Gabite like white on rice but where was this caution coming from? The Gabite was going to wander off and never be seen again if she keeps this up.

”Yes that’s usually how a lot of people capture a wild Pokémon.” The man responded, a brow raised at the girl’s words. ”Oh come on.” Adam groaned to himself as he listened to Noelle ramble on. He walked over to the girl and gave her a light chop to the head.

”What exactly are you doing here?” He asked, not really caring for the answer. ”Aren’t you Noelle Bellemoore? “Dragon Priestess”? Isn’t this your territory? Come on then! This should be easy for you! So grit your teeth and go get em!” Shaking his head, Adam pulled out a capsule hosting one of his Pokémon.

”Or I guess I can catch the Gabite, keep it for myself.” Adam shrugged. ”Might not NEED another one but having too Garchomps is never a bad thing. Oh, I definitely won’t be giving it to you. No need to give it to a scaredy-cat.”

Missing Persons [M]

The Noivern’s mix of natural advantages in the dark made it easy for her to traverse the dark cave and locate their target. Her cry would indicate her discovery and fly ahead, hovering over where the man that they were looking for was. While this was happening the Hypno still needed to be dealt with.

Adam blinked at the sight of the little Purrloin which flung itself at the Hypno with a Night Slash. ”Good job!” They’d have to follow this momentum up and let the Hypno have a break. ”Soul, use Extreme Speed again!” Without missing a beat the Lucario attacked, another flurry of attacks on the Hypno.

The psychic type looked tired at this point and they had it on the ropes but this brought about its desperation and in an attempt to turn the tide around the Pokémon released a stream of poisonous gas from its mouth, an attempt to mask its position while also hindering their aggression.

”Shit! Stay away from that gas!” Adam covered his mouth and nose. It probably won’t do much help but it was most certainly better than nothing. Even with the gas limiting their eyesight Adam believed both Pokémon should find navigating through it. In fact, it wouldn’t help much against Soul.

”Soul fight back with an Aura Sphere! Cut through this gas!” Using his ability to see the auras of all living things, spotting the Hypno through the gas was easy work for the Lucario which then fired off an Aura Sphere at the Pokémon. They had it on the ropes just a few more attacks and Adam was sure that it would go down.

His faith was placed well as the Blackthorn girl did what Adam considered an excellent job teaching so far. Honestly he was impressed but it shouldn’t come as a surprise given that when it came to dragons all these dragon den nuts knew what they were doing. He wondered if they had any other hidden talents that he wasn’t too sure about hiding under all that nerdy dragon stuff.

Adam scoffed at the idea, next thing he knows mateo martinez will be some sort of baking wiz or something. Maybe he’d make dragon-shaped cookies or cakes. Alright, he needed to stop, he was getting hungry.

He could tell that some of this stuff was going right over some of the cadet’s heads, especially the part whenever Noelle brought up her clan. Not exactly the smartest bunch it seemed but they were going to have to work with it. And at least they all seemed invested in what she was saying.

Some of them Adam suspected were only interested because a cute girl was talking to but hey, whatever worked he supposed. Their job wasn’t to make sure that they call became dragon scholars at the end of this, just competent enough that they didn’t blow everything up.

Though all this buttering up of Kanē was going to be annoying as the dragon just loved letting things go to his head. The Garchomp had happily did what the priestess commanded of him, loving being able to show off his power. Oh boy, the look of terror on everyone’s faces when she asked them to give the Garchomp an order was hilarious.

”Don’t worry gang! Go ahead and give it a try! He won’t bite your head off……much.” The man snickered, not really helping those that were intimidated by the dragon, didn’t help that Kanē’s resting face looked like he was waiting for an excuse to make someone a snack.

One student had some guts and stepped up, trying to get Kanē to use Dragon Claw just like Noelle did. The dragon almost completely ignored this little runt thinking how dare this little shit to tell him what to do but he remembered what he was here for and complied. The look on the student’s faces changed which was good. ”See look at that! Not too bad is it?”

Seeing the little Deino in such a sorry state almost made Sun feel bad, the key word there being “almost” and seeing how the dragon was being a terror not too long ago prevented the monkey from having any serious sympathy for the dragon. ”Yeah, yeah let it all out.” The fire monkey shrugged. ”Maybe next time you’ll think twice about bullying people smaller and weaker than you.” He scolded.

”Put that energy into something more productive like training to get stronger or something. No one likes a terrorizing asshole of a bully and especially ones that can’t back their shit talk up.” This was all good and great but they were going to get their asses beat when their trainers came back.

Maybe the dragon would get babied but Sun knew for a fact that once his trainer came back oh there was going to be hell to pay. Okay, he was over-exaggerating a little bit but only a little bit. Sun would keep his eye on the Deino for the rest of the time they were subjected to this daycare. What a fucking day.

”A Mystery Gang huh?” Adam mused, stroking his chin as he did so. The man looked over to his Lucario, a goofy grin on his face. ”I like that sound of that! What ya think, Soul? Want a Lucario Snack?! You start talking and I’ma lose it!” Adam laughed.

”Ya know I don’t think we’ve had a chance to introduce ourselves!” With all the craziness that was going on it was understandable they wouldn’t have a moment to go through the pleasantries of introductions.

”Name’s Adam Shephard and this here is Soul!” You wouldn’t think the man just had a terrifying experience moments ago with his demeanor but that’s how he is.

Getting closer to the closet sent chills down Adam’s spine, he didn’t want to end up being flung out of the building again. ”Alright here we go.” He took a deep breath before flinging the door open but there was nothing but an empty closet on the other side.

”Well gang it looks like nothing more than a normal closet.” But that’s exactly what the ghosts would want you to think! Adam entered the closet but this time made sure that the door stayed open, none of that teleporting shit today thank you!

”You see anything?” Honestly he was hoping that they didn’t find anything, at least not anything that’d fuck with them.

”As much as I would love to do exactly that.” And honestly that would make so many things easier for them if they could just blow up the place and keep moving, Adam wouldn’t lose any sleep over it. ”I’m starting to think that maybe those other kids really did end up getting sacrificed or whatever.” Adam wasn’t sure if he bought the whole sacrifice thing but something fishes was obviously going on with this place.

What happened to him was proof enough that moving forward they were going to have to be much more careful lest they be the ones that disappear.

Staring at the building, Adam wasn’t even sure where to begin. ”It was weird that Soul didn’t sense anything. He’s been able to catch ghost Pokémon before.” He’d rub his chin as he mulled over the idea. ”Hard to say really if they’re all technically “living” or not so maybe that was the case.” He wouldn’t get any answers just standing around.

”Going to check out that closet again, maybe there are some clues or something.” Going back in there probably seemed like a dumb idea but not only did they have a job to do but his own curiosity was moving him forward.

”Was kind of hoping this was just some dumb prank, be an easy payday.” He sighed.

With all of the chaos that was happening Adam almost missed the change in environment as the confrontation developed.

That along with the stench of what Adam could only describe as being some really cheap shitty perfume made for a rather unpleasant situation, but that was stating the obvious.

”Soul back up geitz. Use Aura Sphere.” The Lucario moved to the FRONT along with the Houndoom and fired off an attempt to fire off an Aura Sphere.

”That’s kind of you.” Adam said, commenting on her capturing the Granbull. Most people would have just kept moving on and not even give the Pokémon a second thought, at least Adam was going to. Given the Pokémon’s temperament and what happened earlier he was honestly surprised that she decided to capture it.

”Hey, before you all came here how was it back in Johto? I haven’t been there in a while, sort of miss it.” He’d ask. It was probably long overdue for him to make another stop in the region to see his family there.

His Lucario would interrupt whatever sort of interaction might have been going on by alerting Adam to a presence nearby. While the Lucario knew where whoever this was a person was hiding at Adam couldn’t see them.

”Where are they, Soul?” The Lucario took charge giving his trainer’s lack of ability to spot the culprit. In a nearby push, a Dedenne had been watching them, the little mouse having being spotted came out of its hiding spot. It was curious about the group, cautiously approaching the silver-haired male who had know crouched down with a hand extended toward it.

”Well aren’t you a cutie!” Yeah it was really cute and cuddly looking now but when it got closer to the man it decided to give him a shock, a funny joke to the Pokémon.

Now nice and well done, this wouldn’t be the first time the man was subjected to an electric type’s attack coursing through his body and despite what someone might say or imply, you never really get used to it. Soul went to retaliate but Adam stopped the Pokémon. ”Oh I’ve got something for me.” The man got back on his feet and yet again offered a hand toward the Dedenne.

The Pokémon was of course confused but then figured the man was just an idiot and zapping him again would be fun. This time however Adam had an empty capsule in his other hand and when the Pokémon cam close the man tapped the Pokémon with it. ”Ain’t so funny now is it?”

Adam caught himself humming along with Mateo’s nursery rhyme, not because he wanted to but because that shit had gotten stuck into his head. Every time he caught himself doing that he cursed to himself and prayed to whatever gods above that the song didn’t actually stay in his head for long.

He had heard it so much in the past that it was driving him a little nutty. It also didn’t help that Mateo can’t sing for shit and he didn’t care. This had to be some form of torture right? If it wasn’t, it should be classified as one.

When they finally got to the lair of the Jynx the sight of it was a heaven-sent as Adam was ready to get to work. At least that’s what Adam thought at first until he saw the size of this damn thing.

”Dear mother of Arceus, what the fuck am I looking at.” He had to be dreaming right? Adam was starting to feel like he had just stepped into someone’s really creepy fetish dream and he wanted fucking out of this shit. Even his Lucario which he released was completely bewildered by what exactly they were looking at.

Adam was snapped out of his temporary horror by Kyle who was commenting on their friend’s choice of Pokémon. ”Hey man don’t be too hard on him. Remember he’s a bit slow.” The man joked, but given their situation that really was a bonehead move by Mateo.

Either way, they were going to have to work with it but with Houndoom and Lucario they should be fine, fighting this abomination was going to be a piece of cake.

Adam takes the BACK RIGHT position across from where Kyle and his Houndoom stood. With Mateo in the front and Aramis nearby, they would be fine. Kyle and Adam's positioning gave them a good enough of a spot to jump in when need be.

”Alright Soul, let’s get ready for showtime.” In response to his words his Lucario used SWORDS DANCE to ready himself for battle.

”I’ve lost counts of the amount of times I hit this thing.” ”Yeah go ahead.” Adam reassured the girl that the Pokémon was all hers to catch. Her follow up questions was met with a bit of hesitation before Adam would answer.

”Nah, not sure I’d enjoy having a Pokémon with that sort of temperament around.” The Pokémon was bullying the poor little Wimsicott and that was some negative vibes that Adam most certainly did not fuck with so the Granbull didn’t matter to him in the slightest. ”Besides, I don’t really have a need for one on my rotation anyway.” He shrugged.

”I did want to keep looking around here if you were down for that.”

It looks like the jig was up, so much for their plan! ”Alright Soul let’s get out of here before she blows us up outta here.” Adam sighed as he went for the door. As soon as he placed his hand on the handle and for a split second something didn’t feel right.

It was suddenly extremely cold, a shiver sent down his spine, the hair on his neck stood up. But it happened so quickly that he didn’t really notice it enough to make him pause. This was the sign for what was to come as when the man opened the door he wasn’t lead to the right place.

Instead, he was in another part of the building, a part that was unfamiliar to him. ”What the hell?!” Both he and his Lucario looked around. Soul hadn’t alerted him to the presence of another Pokémon so what in the world just happened?

They appeared to be in a normal-looking bedroom but of course, no one was in here and the only source of light was a TV that was showing nothing but static. ”Jeez, I was just joking about those movie ideas I didn’t want to actually be tossed into one.” Adam scratched his head, wondering what was going on.

Sticking around here wasn’t going to help, seeing as there wasn’t much else going on outside of shit being creepy as hell the man walked to the door, stepping out of the room. But much to his and probably everyone else’s surprise the man didn’t open the door and step out into a hallway, no, he found himself falling towards the ground outside.

”Oh shit!” Quickly the man released his Noivern who then grabbed a hold on both Adam and Soul, gently taking the two males down the ground below them. ”Okay that was weird. Hey be careful in there! That place might actually be haunted!” He’d yell out to whoever had been warning him about spooking them.

Missing Persons [M]

Adam couldn’t shake this feeling of something being off. As if they were walking into a pretty shaky situation. Despite this his composure hadn’t changed, the man remained cool, calm and collected. Not being the type to let himself and his nerves get easily shaken the man noticed the change in demeanor of his two canines, he had been right on the money.

If they were reacting negatively to the situation then there must be something going on, something that while Adam might not be able to see it his Pokémon would act as his eyes. They would work together as a unit.

”Is it our target?” He’d ask, specifically to Soul. The Lucario’s ability to sense auras would allow him to differentiate between them and tell which was human and which was not. The question was answered but the result given was not what Adam had expected.

There wasn’t just one being in their path but at least two. That news led the man to pull out a capsule from his belt, one which contained his wyvern Siren. She would excel in battling with conditions like this; most Pokémon would not be able to keep up with a Noivern in the dark.

Granted this would still be home advantage for whomever it was they were facing so their guard had to be up. The light of the lantern would shine against a metallic surface, one which confused at first but after realizing what it was it most definitely caused distress.

”Shit!” Adam cursed under his breath as he looked away but his Arcanine wasn’t as lucky and started to feel the effects of the hypnotism. At the sight of this the man released his Noivern but instead of doing so before him, Adam made sure that the Pokémon would be released behind them.

The silver-haired male and the Lucario were luckier than their Arcanine companion as they both managed to avoid the hypnotic rhythm of the Hypno’s pendulum. ”Soul keep your eyes away from that pendulum. Close them if you have to and sense it by aura!” Adam directed before turning to Cecilia.

”We can keep the Hypno’s attention while you go ahead. Soul detected another life signal just beyond this point.” He added, Siren flying nearby. ”She’ll give you help if you need it. Now Soul! Use Extreme Speed!” Per his trainer’s orders the Lucario charged forward with blinding speed, attacking the Hypno.

Siren would land near the Silph, offering her back if the woman wanted to hop aboard to get where they were going faster.

If not the wyvern would hover nearby to protect the woman if the Hypno tried to aim for them. With the dragon’s ability to use sonic waves to traverse through the darkness they’d be able to find their target in no time.
