”I’ve lost counts of the amount of times I hit this thing.” Adam joked, knocking on his head in reference to her comment about his head not working right. Perhaps his methods didn’t make sense or weren’t going to work but that wouldn’t prevent him from trying.

Maybe it all came from this stubborn ideal of his about pulling out the best in people, try and help them overcome their hang ups. Make it so that if he can help it, no one has to go through what he had to. At least they wouldn’t have to do so alone.

It was a shame about the fight, with a little more training and probably some move diversity, the Charmeleon could take down that Granbull. He watched curiously as the woman switched out the Pokémon and went for another one, which one would she be bringing out?

Snorlax wasn’t what he expected but it definitely wasn’t a bad choice. Even the Granbull looked at its wits end staring up and the giant normal type Pokémon. This was going to be interesting to watch at the very least, to see how Bryony handles this beast. That is if the Snorlax doesn’t just sleep the entire time.

What happened next made Adam chuckle, that was an anticlimactic ending. ”Hey a win’s a win, alright? We take those.” The man shrugged as Bryony looked to him.

Now there was something else they were going to have to deal with. Bryony apparently had the same idea going and beat the man to the punch. ”No, this little one is all yours!” He smiled.

The next Pokémon Adam spotted turned out to be much more relaxed which was nice. A Carracosta was swimming by and had taken interest in the ship. It wasn’t doing anything to damage or attack the ship or cause any trouble, just swimming on by.

Adam sighed, this was a nice break from having to worry about whether or not they were going to be attacked by some sort of demon or something. ”Hey there big guy, water looks great.” Adam waved down to the large sea turtle as the Pokémon continued on its way to wherever it was that it was going.

Eventually, they came to their stop and Adam was paid for a job well done. It was sure as hell stressful but at least it was over, right?

Adam went back to being bored, leaning on the railing and staring out toward the ocean. Another thud came from nearby but this time it sounded like whatever it was weighed a hell of a lot more than the slab from earlier. Looking over Adam spotted a Croconaw which wasn’t anything too unusual. Everything was checking out until the man noticed something in the crocodile’s mouth….the stone slab from earlier.

”OH NOOOOOOOOOOOO!” The man shouted blitzing over to the Croconaw and wrestling with the Pokémon to get the stone slab out from its grasp. But these things had some damn powerful jaws.

”I knew this damn thing was cursed!” Adam growled, still struggling with the Croconaw. ”C’mon let it go! You’ll damn us all! I know you might not care but I do! I don’t want this bad fucking juju!” He wasn’t getting anywhere with this and let go of the slab, the Croconaw smirked as if it had won.

”Oh don’t go smiling yet you cocky bastard.” If wrestling with it to get the slab out wasn’t going to work then Adam was going to make the stupid Croconaw drop it with a different approach.

The man got behind the water Pokémon and grabbing it to perform a German suplex, slamming the Pokémon onto the deck of the boat. The impact of the blow was enough for the Croconaw to release the slab.

”Now for the last time! BEGONE FOUL DEMON! BACK TO THE DEPTHS OF HELL WITH YOU.” And again the man yeeted the slab back into the sea. Now it was time to figure out what to do with the Croconaw. Pissed at the thing for almost getting everyone aboard killed the man grabbed the Pokémon by its tail and threw it back into the water. ”So long, dickhead!”

His playing with the Whimsicott stopped as Bryony voice came at him like a blunt instrument. Despite this he didn’t turn to her, keeping his back facing her as she laid into him. But he listened carefully to her words, the way she said it.

The pain, guilty and anger that was packed into them, he absorbed it all and could imagine the look on her face, never before had Adam heard the girl get like this, hear her raise her voice at anyone. There was a mix of emotions that he went through but there was one in particular that he felt more than any other, pride.

When she stopped Adam stood up and then turned to her, a happy look on his face. The man was smiling from ear to ear, definitely not the look of someone who was just yelled at. ”Well holy shit! You do have a backbone!” He exclaimed, happy to hear her lay into him.

That look of guilt on her face, the tears, that wouldn’t do at all. Before he would speak he noticed Felix, the Pokémon seemingly responding to the emotions of his trainer and unleashing a move known as Dragon Rage.

”Hey now don’t cry.” Adam would say, shaking his head. ”There’s no need to cry, or feel guilty! That’s how you probably should react when someone’s being a dick head! I know that’s easier said than done so its okay to let it all out and regain your composure when you're ready. I’ma big boy who can take a lashing!” He folded his arms, nodding at his own words.

”But there’s that spirit I always knew you had in ya! That fiery emotion! Even Felix was feeling it! Look at him!” He’d gesture over to the Charmeleon. ”Granted that attack won’t really do much to a Granbull given the typing but that’s beside the point.” That was sort of a bummer though; he hoped she wouldn’t dwell on it.

”Listen I get that you try and I understand you had it harder and continue to have it harder than the rest of us. but let’s not act like I don’t notice what’s going on with you outside of that. You hold yourself back and second guess yourself, I get why and I’m not blaming you. I’m not saying you’ve got to be some legendary Pokémon Dragon Master or whatever like those other nerds and flip your life around in like a matter of seconds. It’s all about taking every little step, and that was one of them.” Adam’s smiling expression turned into a sillier one as he leaned in close to her

”Let me tell you I definitely sucked ass coming up. Don’t let my charming good looks and accomplishments fool you I definitely had my fair share of fuck-ups! Like there was this one time I tried to use a poison type against a steel type! What a dumbass I was!” He smiled and nodded.

”But hey I bet underneath those tears you feel a bit better about yelling at me? Huh? Huh? C’mon I know you do! I’m a real pain in the ass! Bet you’d love to deck me right in the face! You can tell me! It's really nice to see this side of you! Definitely thinking "Oh holy shit this girl might rip my head off!"But seriously though you might wanna check on that fight.” In the back of his mind however he was thinking about how he actually didn't expect her to go off like that.

The way she commanded her Pokémon put a bit of a frown on Adam’s face. He wasn’t mad at her or really that disappointed he was more sad that things were still like this, she was still where she was at all those years ago.

He imagined it would be a day and night change but there would at least be some sort of progress in this field but there seemed not to be. A result may be of her still chasing and lingering onto those around her? There was probably a litany of reasons that a therapist would have a field day with.

The little Whimsicott that scurried behind them was just too cute for Adam to not interact with the little guy. ”Hey there buddy. You’re safe now.” Adam reassured the Pokémon, gently petting it. Not before too long the two of them were playing patty cake, mainly due to how cute it was mixed with Adam’s decision to not hover over Bryony.

”So were you asking your Charmeleon to attack or telling it?” Two very different things that would indicate the level of trainer someone was. And everything it didn’t seem to be all copacetic with Bryony at all. And this was a good way to trigger the absolute hell out of the man.

”What are you going to do “WHEN” he evolves? Gonna play nice with a fully grown Charizard and beg for it to listen to you? C’mon you’ve got to assert yourself more! Be big momma Bryony not little baby where’s my boyfriend Bryony.” He’d ask, stilling playing with the Whimiscott.

Adam stressed the when part because regardless of whatever she thought about it there was a likely-hood it could happen. ”Or am I wasting my breath cause I’m not Mateo?” Typically he’d go with a nicer route but he wasn’t thinking that was going to work.

”Ya know this place would make for one hell of a horror movie set, don’t ya think?” Adam was speaking to his Lucario; the Pokémon nodded in agreement though wasn’t as enamored with the building as much as his trainer was. They had a job to do, they weren’t here to check out the viability of this place as a set for their next horror movie.

Though that didn’t sound like a bad idea, ditch this whole league stuff to make movies. Adam could see himself a fancy and well renowned director. It would probably pay a hell of a lot more.

He had a brilliant idea for a movie for this place too. Evil spirits haunting the entire place maybe have them communicate through a TV or something. What would he call this? Hmm, maybe poltergeist? No that was a stupid name for a movie. Maybe instead of that, it could be something about someone who gets possessed?

They could turn their head around 360 like and yell random demonic shit. Adam waved his hand dismissively at the thought. He would have time to brainstorm movie ideas later; he was supposed to be looking for some kids? Apparently, a bunch came in and only one came out.

This whole situation sounded like a movie synopsis! And here Adam was the foolish but brave man trying to solve the mystery of the missing kids along with his trusty spirit medium! Can they discover what happened to the kids and save them without losing themselves in the process?

What sorts of horror await them deep inside the walls of the cabin?! Oh, the horror! Oh, the humanity! Can our daring heroes save the day?! ”Check to see if you can find any auras around here. Kids probably got wrapped up in some ghost Pokémon shenanigans.” Adam shrugged as they then started to move around the cabin looking for clues.

A lot of the time whenever people were freaking out over some spooky shit it ended up being a ghost Pokémon problem. Either the Pokémon was pulling pranks on people or some dickhead managed to piss one off and it was taking its anger out on everyone.

Adam wasn’t sure how many times he was called into situations like this and that was one of the causes. You would think that in a world like this people would be smarter about not being fuck-ups and messing around with supernatural creatures but no matter where you are stupid is as stupid does.

The sound of what Adam would assume to be a Lycanroc could be heard coming from outside. ”Oh man you wanna do something funny?” He’d ask his Lucario partner, the Pokémon giving him a curious albeit concerned look.

Adam decided it’d be funny to hide in a closet to spook over it was that was approaching the cabin. It was probably whoever he was supposed to be working with. Hopefully they had a good sense of humor….and didn’t have a heart attack and die.

The sound of something hitting the deck of the boat would free Adam of what felt like an eternal boredom. Looking over to see what had made the sound he noticed what looked like a stone slab resting on the deck.

”What the hell is that?” Picking it up, Adam inspected the stone slab. It took him a second to realize what it was exactly what he was holding and the realization filled him with a terrible dread. What he was holding was a keystone and not just any keystone, one that was typically associated with the ghost Pokémon Spiritomb.

Legends spoke of this Pokémon being such an annoying shit that brought about nothing but chaos that it was sealed away for eons. Whether or not that was true, and given the fact that multiple of these things existed it was even less likely outside of the whole myth thing, they were just bad news.

”Oh hell no! I ain’t getting cursed! BEGON FOUL DEMON!” To prevent the Pokémon from causing any kind of terror the man chucked the keystone off of the boat. Yeeting the damn thing into the ocean.

Adam had an interesting job to take care of today, at least it sounded like it would be fun. A boat captain would often ferry through these waters but as of recently any time he would set sail and would hit the open waters he would be attacked by all sorts of Pokémon.

For years this wasn’t a problem but he had to get to where he was going so against the odds he would head out to sea. This is why he decided to hire help which is where Adam came in. The man’s job was simple; protect the boat and its passengers if any Pokémon attacked.

They didn’t care if he beat them senseless or caught them, just make sure no one got hurt and nothing got damaged. But here was the problem with that, so far nothing showed up!

Not even one of those annoying as Wingulls. Nope, Adam spent most of his time standing at the railing of the ship, chin resting in his hand as he stared out to the open waters.

Rugrats [Mission]

Sun couldn’t help but think to himself how good it felt to sock that dragon right in his dumb face. But maybe he had gone too far? Sure he wanted to teach the damn asshole a lesson but he didn’t want to beat the dragon senseless.

That would probably get him into a hell of a lot of trouble with his own trainer and that dumb girl this dragon belonged to, just thinking about her again made Sun groan thinking that she should train her Pokémon better. If she had they wouldn’t be in this situation and Sun could still be taking a nice and well-deserved nap.

But the dragon got back up and looked understandably pissed. The look on his face made Sun smirk, the monkey had done some physical and emotional damage. Probably hurt the Deino’s pride, it was talking a lot of shit not too long ago. But this dragon was a baby and needed to understand how to stay in his own lane, it wasn’t messing with Sun.

At least that’s what the fire monkey was thinking until the damn dragon started to charge at him. ”Oh shit!” Sun used his natural acrobatic abilities along with the actual move in an attempt to get out of the way.

His aim was for a nearby shelf behind the Deino and while he made it, he didn’t do so unscathed. The charge still managed to get his left side and as such his landing was shit and he barely managed to pull himself up. Sun was surprised, that attack was strong as hell, he wouldn't be able to take one of those head-on and shrug it off. If the dragon was better with it then Sun would be in a whole hell of a lot of trouble.

”Alright, let’s end this right the fuck now.” He leaped at the Deino, in an attempt to use Close Combat on the Dragon to wrap this up. Sun’s movement was slower and more sluggish thanks to taking some of that earlier attack from the Deino.

Dragon boot camp [Mission]

Adam watched, a big smile on his face, as Noelle made her speech. The way she spoke with such confidence and knowledge really showed that despite how much of klutz and an airhead she can act like at times there was a brilliant trainer in there. It was probably why they decided to give her the titles she had, there was more than just being the daughter of someone important.

The contrast between these two sides of her were a bit jarring but admirable nonetheless. All of these Blackthorn kids were truly passionate about dragon Pokémon and all that goes behind training them.

He was a bit surprised to hear here ask for his Garchomp, the Pokémon wasn’t really the teaching type. ”Are you sure about that? You sure you don’t want Siren? She’d be easier to deal with. I get that might be the point of picking him but....ya know what alright.” He’d ask but still summoned the dragon anyway.

the Garchomp letting out a proud roar as he appeared in front of the group, stretching his body to show off his size and power. The dragon was always a bit of a showoff you enjoyed letting everyone in the room know that he had the biggest dick, it can get really annoying.

”Alright Kanē, here’s the deal.” Adam walked over to the Garchomp, pulling the Pokémon closer to him. ”We’re teaching these scrubs here how to train dragon Pokémon and you’ve been picked to help out. So listen to Noelle, alright?” The dragon wasn’t really the type who taught, no, he was a fighter but he wasn’t completely against the idea or disobedient so he nodded to show he understood what was going on.

”He’s all yours Noelle.” The silver-haired male would give her a thumbs-up. He’d watch intently, extremely curious as to what she was up to. But he figured she wanted Kanē because of how wild he was.

Adam let out a deep sigh of relief, if she hadn’t played along there was a very good chance the Solrock might have went postal which would have caused a fight. Granted the girl almost gave her a heart attack in the way she did respond.

His hair might already be basically white but that sure would have made it white then. She might honestly be the death of him at some point so maybe it would be better off to throw her at Mateo and cuff the two of them together. Hell, it’d be doing her a favor that was for sure.

”Yeah you did great,” The man shook his head in response to Noelle, returning a thumbs up. ”But next time let’s not do any dramatic pauses please? You’re going to give me a heart attack.” Adam looked to the Slowbro, at least this one wasn’t a pain to deal with but when are Slowbros really a pain?

The slow Pokémon only ever managed to be mild annoyances when they got in your way but other than that he was a-okay with this Pokémon. This one seemed to like Ms. Dragon Princess and watching their interaction was cute.

The man clapped as the sound of the pokeball indicated that the capture was successful. ”Well isn’t that nice, you’ve got yourself a new buddy there. Slowbros make for interesting Pokémon to raise and care for.” He was happy for the girl. She was branching out from her whole dragon shtick.

Granted he knew about her main Pokémon that wasn’t a dragon at all but it was still to see her diversify. Speaking of Pokémon, there was another duo of Pokémon that appeared. One that did so out of the waters nearby and another that popped from the ground.

Adam figured that the Gabite was going through a series of tunnels that probably stretched all through this place. ”So how about that one, huh?” He’d nudge Noelle with his elbow and point toward the Gabite.

”That’s gotta be up your alley right? Don’t you really like this species?” If memory served him correctly she was a big fan of Garchomp. Adam wasn’t particularly too interested in either, he already had a Garchomp.

Adam folded his arms, watching with a bit of a skeptical look on his face. He trusted that she’d be able to handle this but he didn’t like how unconfident she sounded. It then didn’t help that as soon as she called out her Pokémon it went running off without so much of a care about whatever its trainer wanted from it.

That wasn’t particularly a good sign but he didn’t judge her too much because of it. Every Pokémon was different in terms of disposition and obedience and this was a Charmeleon we were talking about, they were all somewhat rebellious.

”A bit of a handful, eh?” He’d ask, a rhetorical question of course. ”Well they are going through that weird teenage phase during this stage of evolution. So this isn't unexpected.” Adam would add, taking out one of his pokeballs. He’d then release his Lucario, a Pokémon Bryony would be familiar with and one that would be on standby just in case things went south.

”Alright, Soul. Make sure things don’t get too hairy.” The Lucario let out a grunt, acknowledging his trainer’s command and watching the other Pokémon like a hawk.

”Alright Bee, it’s a bit of a shaky start but you’ve got this.” Hopefully his words were comforting.

”I would say so,” He responded, a quick shrug of his shoulders as he did so. As they walked his eyes scanned their surroundings, trying to see if he could spot any foul play. There had been nothing but dirt and stone, nothing useful to them.

They were still on the right path but both of his tracks hadn’t changed much in disposition so he didn’t think they were that close. ”I’ve been good, life’s been good. How about yourself? What brought you to Hoenn?” A curiosity he had from the moment he spotted her. He felt like he had been asking that question a lot.

A brow raises as Cecilia asks him to carry the lantern. Why in the world did she bring it if she wasn’t going to hold on to it herself?

”Alright, I’ll hold onto it for now.” He’d take the lantern supposing that there was some merit to him having it given that he was the one leading the charge. ”I don’t think it’ll be much farther from here.” Prometheus and Soul looked to be on to something and the Lucario nodded at the man to confirm his words.
