They both manage to make it out unscathed and its for the better. Evan's attention stays focused on the pokemon before them, whistling to get his own pokemon's attention when the others take their opening to attack. "Breath doll, and hold it back for them."

The hatterene mellows during their fiery barrage, calming her mind and focusing herself so that she might play the part that seems theirs to play well. Moments later the beast will find itself enveloped in psychic energy to hold it at bay. While the pair is by no means well versed in such a battle yet they can at least make certain the more experienced pair has no problems keeping the beast from rampaging further.

Evan turns to the girl and her own pokemon. "She'll keep it from advancing."

He leaves the final blow to them, one more push should be all they need as the pokemon struggles against the psychic strength of his pokemon, wearing itself down further than it already has been.

Owning an establishment can make even the easiest of dailies in a game like this a troublesome thing to complete, enough so Evan had to be reminded to come give his hand a try at the sword in the stone. Mostly because he might as well if nothing else, who knows what might happen as the glove is slipped off his skeletal hand so that he give it a true enough try.

He laughs as he grips the hilt, because it's almost silly to think about really.

He towers over the other man, normally not the case but it makes the way he retrieves his weapon more amusing than it might normally be. He's glad he's chosen someone with such gusto behind him.

The comment however, makes him give himself away.

Evan laughs, something boisterous and filled with gravel from deep in his virtual lungs. It hold the same mirthful tone that he is known for in the real world.

"If that were true, don't you think I would have smited you already little warrior?" without hesitation he reaches out with the gnarled wooden staff in his hand to bop the now smaller man on the head with a much softer chuckle.

Surely he'll figure it out, won't he?

Initially he says nothing, simply staring at the honedge that truly, he probably has no place trying to pull from the stone.

He's curious anyway, and like many things in the game he figures it is worth the try anyway. The healer class could use a good sword if it was special after all right? or something like that, certainly. Probably.

The hulking figure that is Oberon reaches out for the hilt of the ghost, and pulls with the hopes of something happening.

"Hmmm...."

Evan muses to himself, deeply rooted in the tutorial messages that he sees around him. Trying to parse exactly what was expected of him here was something else entirely from what he was expecting to spend the evening on. He agreed to come along only because Lars seemed so interested, in his own mind gaming wasn't really something he was into.

"Let's see..."

The voice is rather gravelly, debating what to do as he walks aimlessly, the hulking figure he's taken on for the sake of the game thudding in expected steps as he walks across the tutorial field. He almost doesn't realize the nearly familiar face until he's within eyesight, noticing instantly just how little he seemed to actually change about his appearance.

Evan stands there staring at him through the skull face he's chosen, waiting to see how long it takes Lars to realize it might be him. The aesthetic should be expected after all.

"Carefully, and with a lot of practice." his regime was one of the few things the usually laid back and care free man was almost neurotic about. When he missed it even just a little it irked him to no degree. It was almost odd seeing as how he took everything else in stride. Then again experience spoke to how poor a choice it was to keep his piercings badly maintained.

It's a subject they do not linger on for long before Evan is moving to usher the other man into the Stray. It was far too cold out to stay outside and Evan pats around his pockets until he finds his keys, unlocking the rarely locked building. It's kept so only when he's gone and the place isn't open anymore. Even with his pokemon patrolling he prefers to be safe.

It's only once their both in the door that he speaks again. "Heavens you must be freezing lars." he looks to him for confirmation, half expecting denial. There's no way he isn't freezing after tat though.

There's a small moment when he enters the room where the both of them take a second to look each other over. Lars doesn't know it but Evan looks a lot more than he seems like he does, just never when Lars might see him. He's gotten good at being discreet over the years. The fact he doesn't hide how his eyes linger on him this time is a rarity.

Lars moves and a slow grin grows across evan's lips as he moves towards the couch. It's a little more than flirty. It dares to be mischievous. "what else?"

Evan looks back out over the room, arm sweeping out in front of him in dramatic gesture at the rest of the room, fully equipped for the night of fun ahead. "Karaoke love."

He hopes Lars is comfortable singing as he picks up the Bramble from the table and hands it to him.

"Because screaming won't do us any good if we end up dying anyway." it's so nonchalant, so deadpan, so matter of fact that nearly anyone in their right mind may think Evan insane for the comment as he looks over at Lars. He chuckles a little at his Umbreon ears, the espeon ones on his own head wiggling ever so slightly with the movement.

He looks back out over the view again. Nodding makes the ears wiggle with more gusto. "Which would you rather if we were going to die right now? That we do so freaking out or enjoying a nice conversation together before we plummet to our deaths?"

Call him a little too care free, fearless, or perhaps just fool hardy. Whatever it was that made him so calm in the face of such a situation it was almost unreal.

"I might have a thing or two up for grabs." Evan says with a playful smile to the blond entering his kitchen. He doesn't quite turn away from his work yet however, rubbing his hands together to get the crumbs and traces of flour off his fingers before turning around. His back leans against the counter top and he gestures for lars to sit at the table.

Inked arms cross over his chest, smiling at the man for a moment, looking him over before he finally speaks again. "Just to be on the safe side, you've got all night right?"

Evan wants to be sure, before they get too deep into the fun of sweets and treats that will be served over the course of the rest of the week. There's no denying however, by the looks of the kitchen, that his goal is to give the other man a stomach ache by the time he's done.

"Yes. It looks like we were"

There's a daringly uncomfortable weight in the air and Evan hates it. It's not something he feels often and to feel it now seems like a shame.

"We should go for a walk." Evan states rather definitively, eyes trailing past his coffee cup and trough the snow covered park. The paths were still covered in the fluffy white specs that scatted across the ground earlier in the day.

Evan stands with a surprisingly fluid movement, keeping the coffee cup level enough to keep it from spilling again. When he turns to the other man sitting with him it's with a smile on his lips and barely there rose on his cheeks. It calms a little, enough to almost seem like it could be from the cold rather than their conversation.

"C'mon let's go." he reaches for his hand to pull him up from the bench and pull him along out onto the path. If they're going to be stuck out here with each other they might as well enjoy it a little bit, no?
