An official recount of events that had taken place only hours ago had forced the councilman to actually think.

Normally he would do things in the moment, taking them as they had come and not think on them otherwise; but with how surreal everything had been, even with everything he had gone through prior, he couldn’t help but dwell on the thoughts that came with the resurfaced memories.

Choosing to isolate himself as he wrote up his recounts was only a bad idea when he was left alone with his thoughts, forced to scratch at scabs; blood once clotted resurfacing once more and taunting him to itch.

Once the report was forwarded to his secretary, he’d sit quietly, contemplating to himself and letting more and more bubbles of thought pop into his mind, neurotic ticks causing unease and jitters. He needed to do something, talk to someone and the only one who he could really talk to wasn’t a person as close to him as Stormy Silph , but an individual he would only contact as a very last choice, FERNANDO SILPH .

“Meet me at the bar Kaleidoskull in Lilycove at 11pm.

-Kim”

A message sent to his private number, gained through the grapevine or otherwise.

Once he had arrived, the councilman sat in the empty bar, a collection of peanut shells accumulating in a disposable bowl to the side of himself and a glass of water sat before him.

“Shitpost are the essence of memes, Ferny. Have you ever seen a meme that would not/could not be considered a shitpost? Hell even jokes are shitpost if you strip them down to their bare essentials.”

He pauses, his hands motioning outward as he continued to speak, furthering on about absolutely nothing.

“You see Fernando, shitpost are what makes the world revolve. If it wasn’t for shitpost we would have never evolved. Comedy, tragedy, satire, you name it, without shitpost, these would all be obsolete.”

His hands once again motioned before him, a scale of sorts made with both of his palms facing upwards.

“There is a balance that is needed for entertainment, and without shitpost, one side outweighs the other and what enjoyment there is to be had with something is thrown out the window.”

“That’s how you get someone like you. A joyless individual who knows not of shitposting etiquette.”

Kim would scoff audibally towards him, his eyes darting towards the pokemon before scoffing once more.

The Teddiursa would put up its best defense, the bear taking the brunt of the Wood Hammer, blocking with its stubby arms. But once the the ghost type pounced and the roughhousing began, the cubs fur would become more and more frazzled, phantom limbs swiping at the normal type as the two rolled about.

When the onslaught ended, the Tedduirsa would create space between the two of them, shifting backwards and eyeing the Mimikyu. It would not take long for the pokemon to begin rushing in.

“Uaid.”

The councilman said sternly, his features calm as he looked to the pokemon.

“You’ve done good, no need to push yourself.”

The Teddiursa looked back, breathing softly before standing up straight, giving a nod to the Mimikyu before walking back to his trainers side, taking a seat and leaning against the mans leg.

A honey stick would be handed down to the bear, Kim squatting down and gently ruffling the pokemons head before coming to a stand.

A hand gently tapped at his side, releasing a Volcarona, the bug immediately Quivering, its wings fluttering in a Dance of scales and heat.

“Whirlwind.”

Kim commands, the Volcarona conjuring up a huge gust of wind, shifting the Mimikyu back from whence it came and forcing another pokemon to take its place.

He’d smile at Cait coyly, a wink following as the Volcarona waited idly.

Her next selection threw him off a bit, a Mimikyu taking the floor.

Considering he only had a selection of three actual attacks and the other two were completely ineffective against the opposing pokemon put him at a disadvantage for versatility. There were only two things he could really do at this point, and stalling out the battle with rest and hoping sleep talk would allow a feint attack to get through was not the way he wanted to go. So instead, he’d simply let the Teddiursa fight, its only usable move being used repeatedly.

His first Feint Attack would rid the Mimikyu of its Disguise, the cub backing away and awaiting to retaliate against its opponent.

“Not a bad choice.”

He whispered under his breath before speaking up.

“I guess you really were just playing the fool.”

He joked, a friendly chuckle escaping with his words.

The way he moved was so spicy, each jostle of his hips causing him to almost perspire. If he continued to rival Kim, a kerchief would surely be needed.

But said kerchiefs would be saved, a metaphorical fire ignited within Kim as a Mismagius rose from his shadow, literal flares of Mystical Fire appearing around him as he smiled.

“You’re good, but you’re only at beginner level.”

As the music continued, he’d shift it up, his moves turning more aggressive, the flares shooting off towards the Roserade in sync with his newfound level reached.

“Try to keep up.”

The Mismagius took to the floor, floating in place as she eyed the Roserade down.

To say he was embarrassed would be an overstatement, but her wording did catch him off guard, a hand moving to cover his mouth as he gave a cheeky smile, inadvertently looking away for only a moment.

His eyes avert long enough for the chikorita to slam onto the Teddiursa, its minor bulk still doing a decent amount of damage to the cub, its chubby form lying on top of the now downed normal type. But, this would only create an opening for the Teddiursa, the bear kicking the Chikorita away from itself then going in for the final strike, a Feint Attack.

The bear rolled over, rushing towards the pokemon from the front, before appearing at it’s backside, slamming into it with a shoulder tackle and launching the grass type a decent distance away from itself.

“Good round.” He commented as the Teddiursa waddled back to Kim’s side of the field, a light snack given to the cub as he prepared for the next round.

“Would me switching pokemon be to your liking Kay?”

No wonder she was so awkward, she was the antisocial sort, and from the looks of it her anxieties had anxieties.

He held no qualms for her short spiel but there were still a bitter feeling that sturred in his chest, her look making him annoyed with every passing second. So he decided something on a whim.

“Okay.”

He said defeatedly his irritated expression softening but brows still slightly furrowed as he spoke, uncrossing his arms.

“Use this place whenever you want.”

He had decided to simply abandon the area, it being too much trouble to fight for any longer; it was ruined the moment she had found it anyways.

Moving towards where he had entered, he’d grab the teddiursa by the scruff of its neck, the Gothorita following behind as he gave Avery one final word.

“I hope for both our sakes you don’t find the next place I decide to set up in.”

There was a bitter taste of defeat on his tounge, more poignant than ever based on the fact alone that he had willingly given up something so important to him.

“Whaaaaat?”

He over exaggerates, unsuccessfully hiding his grins.

“I’d never mess with you Kay, you should know me better than that.”

The multiple leaves chipped away at the bear, his guard up as they scraped at his fur. Once the onslaught stopped he would begin attacking on his own, a dual clawed Slash poising to attack the green pokemon with one hit after another.

“If it’s that much of a secret then fine, I won’t bother you about it anymore… for now at least.”

He’d chuckle, his arms shrugging as he crossed them over his chest.

“But I find it a little funny that you could lose focus over something as little as that. Gym’s are supposed to be a challenge of mind and body, and if you get thrown off guard because of some questioning, it won’t really feel like much of a challenge. The mind portion would be gone with the wind and soon after the body will have been as well.”

He had already gotten the upper hand by delaying her for so long. If he were anyone else they might not have been so kind as to hold off on attacking for as long as he did.

“Unless this is just another gimmick I’m not understanding. Maybe something on the lines of, ‘ The ditzy garden lady who’s secretly packing heat. ’ ”

He wandered, the topic nearly fleeing from him before his mind returned to the subject at hand.

“Anyways, I meant to ask if you have any favorite memes. Personally, I like the classic ragecomics. You know, the ‘me gusta’s’, the ‘le’s’, the ‘trole’s’ and who can forget, the classic nyan -chu. Good times..” He laments, the memory of those lost aching his chest.

Of course it was calm, he wouldn’t choose anywhere that wasn’t calm if it was his aim to relax. The only reason why things had become anything otherwise was because of the unwarranted presence of another, presence unwelcome at that.

His brow furrowed slightly, thoughts further deteriorating his unamicable mood.

Arms crossed as a hand's fingers idly tapped his elbow, his nerves getting the better of him as he stood in place.

“Why did you pick to have your picnic here instead of somewhere normal like a park or something? We’re not exactly in a safe location, and your pokemon don’t look like they’d be able to handle themselves in a battle.”

Of course the pokemon in the area were of the friendly nature, the very few run-ins with them that he had being a simple acknowledgement of each others presence before returning to their own business; but she didn’t know that. For all she knew they could be the easily agitated sort, unwelcome of others in their territory.

His smile would be replaced with a sullen look, the woman deciding to take a legal stand on the matter, her silence secured.

Though he did not respect her appeal one bit, choosing to further egg her on.

“Is it because your taste buds have atrophied from disuse?”

“I remember one time you made fried combusken and honestly, it was dry, real dry. And the seasoning was barely noticeable. Can you just not taste Celebi?”

He was unaware whether his questions were to prod her further or honest to goodness interest, but he was too far into the pestering to stop now.

“Again.”

He commanded, the half awake Teddiursa springing forth once more, going in for an attack with it’s left paw before attacking with it’s right, the Feint Attack landing with ease. Immediately after it would prepare another Brick Break, its claw bearing down on the grass type before it, its eyes lifting as it did; awake at last.

Kim does little to retaliate against the Riolu, unconcerned by the pokemon’s light kick. Instead he’d simply look down on it, pity set onto his features. Having a trainer as weak as the girl was surely something it would come to be ashamed of in the future.

When she introduced herself, he’d continue to scowl at her, his childish ways showing no sign of relent. But the Teddiursa would gladly join in, the baby bear shuffling over quickly and starting to dig into the food, unwilling to wait another moment for its trainer to give up his tantrum.

‘ Thank you for having us. ‘

The Gothorita conveyed once more before bowing, moving to return to her trainers side, taking a seat to his side. She was quiet until she mentally sent a message Kim’s way, her voice ringing only within his mind.

‘ I hate this too, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to be a complete asshole to someone I just met. ‘

And with that, she would once again fall silent, a deep breath taken as she leaned under the shade of a tree.

As much as it pained him to admit, she was right; but that didn’t make him any less frustrated. All these feelings that he’s been keeping bottled up had to come out eventually, Avery was just the unlucky sucker that got caught up in the crossfire.

“How did you find this place.”

He finally spoke, looking her head on. Maybe questioning her would help to calm himself in some small caliber.
