Bailey Cooper was quick to adjust to the arrival of winter. In Hoenn, where the climate always seemed to be agreeable, it was a simple change. The young officer swapped her shorts for jeans. That was it. That was the only measure that had to be taken to fight the chill in the air as the region transitioned into the colder months. [break][break]

However, in the depths of the Shoal Cave, this change was not enough. Away from the warmth of the sun, the air was allowed to carry a chill that cut to the bone with a single breeze. Bumbo, her Darmanitan, hovered close to her side and used his body warmth to keep her from freezing. “Keep an eye out for trouble,” Bailey said as she scratched beneath the pokemon’s chin. The fire-type was always overprotective of her –she had raised him for his entire life, after all. Rearing a pokemon from an egg always produced these results.

Bumbo sniffed the air, holding up a hand to keep Bailey from straying too far.[break][break]

The League Officer blinked, wondering what was amiss as her Darmanitan scoured the area with his beady gaze. “Something up?” And she was quick to spy the problem; a small lump of white that was rolling along, minding its own business. An Alolan Sandshrew.[break][break]

It was cute.[break][break]

Bailey let her hand fetch one of the pokeballs from her waist. “Don't worry, bud. I don't think that little guy will cause trouble.” Her fire-type only huffed as she stepped away, watching as she prepared to engage with the tiny wild pokemon.[break][break]

She didn't have the heart to order Bumbo to fight it. “Uh, could you just... pick it up and hold it still for me?” He obliged. The small sandshrew wiggled desperately in the Darmanitan's massive hands.[break][break]

She tapped it with a pokeball, hoping the creature would have enough sense to dwell within the capsule. If not, then they would have to put up a fight.
