"I see." Isra understands but does not have a response beyond that. It makes this more worthy of the league's attention in this manner, at least for now.

She pauses a moment, watches him drink and wonders for a moment just how often he ends the night in this manner. It isn't really any of her concern but it's in her nature to question nonetheless. "If you were in control, what would you do with the situation?"

Now she seeks something a little different. She still hasn't quite gotten a feel for him like she wants. For her this is important, she doesn't listen to the dribble of idiots when it comes to such matter.

it's not the first time he's been asked that and it won't be the last. he's pretty sure she's hit him with some variant of the question but his answer will be the same. it's the same one he gave freya morningstar , only different in diction.

Isra frowned. That was noy what she was asking but naturally, his ego was too large wasn't it?

"That's not what i was asking. I dont care about such what ifs, bullshit could have been pre-emptive's mean nothing. We're past that." there was an odd placed sternnes in her voice, but she had never been a woman for dwelling on the past in an unproductive manner. What he would have done before means nothing about now.

"if at this very moment in this same position you could make the final decisions, what would you do about the jirachi situation?"

Her brow furrowed ever so slightly.

fernando smiles at her. the redness of his ears is starting to spread. they're hot, almost on fire. she's late to the party and he's already a glass in. looks like he forgot to eat dinner and possibly lunch.

"what's the point in pondering on what ifs, bullshit?"

her attitude seems to have shifted to something unlike his own and he relishes the change. it brings a faux satisfaction to his heart, to see her eyebrows slant, ever so slightly, and paint her expression as crossed.

"i don't have the final call and there's no chance that i will."

her prick at his pride misses its mark. fernando has nothing to prove, much less to her. the fact she adds in that last remark warns him that she's prying, trying to instigate him into opening up. her challenge is met with a flat refusal. fernando lowers his head and goes back to looking over the papers in front of him.

She blinks, tilts her head. So much like a moving doll in the movenent, a puppet in practiced strings.

She knows he won't believe her. That's okay. She'll forgive his ignorance, he has no reason to know the game she plays and if he chooses to not place a piece on the board then so be it.

She is content in her silence.

silence is a shared pleasured between them. feranndo can make due with mild disturbances but he's grown used to tuning out those around him. shifting through the papers in front of him is second nature. only verbally running through a list of numbers can really throw him off.

after a few minutes, he takes one of the papers in front of him and neatly moves it to the side, away from the rest.

"i take it you have your ideas on what you'd do if given the chance?"

"you're so petty," he remarks, shaking his in disapproval. it's like dealing with a child. a grown, adolescent child who's still trifling enough to oppose their parents but with the knowledge of how to make headway. "it's not like it matters. neither of our opinions matter in this regard. our time is better spent on other things."

fernando returns to his work, taking his time to write down several notes at the bottom of the papers on his desk. some of them are comment about adjustments that need to be made, why certain allocations are wrong or ineffective, as well as what should be done instead. other comments are disparaging but written in a way that stems from facts and addressed by the infinite likely situations that would cause that allotment of league resources to be wasted.

a list of new pokemon he's captured lies among them. over a dozen are sanctioned and provided to the league. he only keeps a few for his own, noticeably those that isra's both met and had to handle. he's past the stage of personally caring for the newcomers.

If he wishes to goad her he will have to try harder. Calling her petty means nothing and she chooses not to entertain whatever he's trying to play at, staring at him hard as he talks.

Largely because he's wrong, he just doesn't know how.

When he returns to his work her eyes shift to the papers, watching the numbers and his comments but saying nothing. Her compulsion to speak is silenced by her contemplation of the course of their conversation. She turns the sentences over and over again in her head until she turns over the letter that was covering the thing that was eating at her, looming in sight until she says something.

"You're wrong."

She leaves it at that.

fernando's intrigued but only slightly. he knows by now that isra has a tendency to give him leading comments. whether that's her way of toying with him or just a quirk, he's unsure, but ultimately the results are the same. her comment, while ominous, do little to phase him. still, he'll entertain her.

"If I answer that, you get something but i don't. Get what you give." if she answers he gets more insight into how she thinks while she gets nothing in return, a game she is not eager to partivipate in. If he wants to keep asking questions he'll need to start answering too.

After all, they never officially called an end to the questions game, did they?

he knows the answer to his question but he asks anyway. "what do you want, isra?" surprisingly, referring to her on a first name basis seems more natural then his standard of using surnames. the realization itself is enough to cause him to glare.
