Stormy is immediately startled by the aggression the Diggersby exudes. [break][break]

"I take it back! I apologize, Sir Diggersby. You're almighty and brave, not cute and floppy."[break][break]

She winces a little bit at how upset he seems to be, pounding his ear-fists against each other to assert his manliness. [break][break]

Tapiti does not seem to care though, in fact, she seems to roll her eyes. She has no time for Pokemon with an ego the size of their over-sized ears.[break][break]

What she was not prepared for, however, was just how quickly the big ass bunny could move. In a flash, she felt fists jab at her ribs. It's a good thing she started packing in a few more meals.[break][break]

With a bellow, the Camerupt would swing her head back to glare at him, insulted he would dare lay a hand on her. [break][break]

Falling victim to the Pyukumuku's taunt, both Tapiti and Sol would feel energized and aggressive.[break][break]

"Don't let them tell you what to do!"[break][break]

Stormy's advice falls on mostly deaf ears, as the pair surge forward. Or, Sol surges forward.[break][break]

Tapiti's heavy feet stomp, churning the ground with an immense rumble. EARTH POWER is meant as a distraction, to cause Diggersby to stumble. Stormy frowns a little bit at the idea, considering her opponents typing. [break][break]

Sol seems to suck in as much breath as he can, his tiny little body trembling as he exudes effort. All at once, a BLIZZARD seems to emerge, the wind picking up and hail coming down harder. The entire field becomes lost in the whirlwind of snow and ice. [break][break]

Perhaps the blizzard combined with Camerupt's earth power would jostle them.[break][break]

their close proximity to the enemy will only work in their favor because this is what they have been trained to do: fight and overcome.

the EARTH POWER is enough to cause diggersby to trip, losing his footing but his job has been done. the attack he had landed earlier did more than camerupt might have realized. TOXIC from pyukumuku seeps along the red coat of the camerupt, poisoning. it's only then does the purple glow around diggersby's ear-fists become prominent.

the BLIZZARD doesn't seem to bother pyukumuku but it does a number on diggersby, who raises his ear-fists to shield his head. shards of ice look to pierce his skin but he's tougher than he looks. he rises to his feet again with a HELPING HAND and lunges forward.

a simple move for a simple pokemon; diggersby repeats the same HAMMER ARM attack on the camerupt, this time aiming high.

There's a heat that flares up across Tapiti's fur. Her eyes grow wild with rage, and she trembles again, using another curse. Despite her lack of speed, the beast doesn't require agility to use her quick wit. [break][break]

Before Diggersby's full effect of toxic punch, courtesy of Pyukumuku, would take, Camerupt would unleash an incredible amount of fire. Flames would spill like lava from her back, effectively coating her in the searing hot flames and molten rock. It would splash and play, leaping from her as she bellowed. Whatever remained of the toxic would be burned away and splashed aside, potentially splashing Diggsersby for getting too close.[break][break]

Because, after all, he had come back for another round of pummelling. While his back was effectively turned and his attention grabbed, Castform would once again let it hail across the brute's back. The frozen particles would melt immediately on contact for Tapiti, who didn't seem at all affected by the cold. [break][break]

Should Diggersby's fists still connect with her hide, the dual-type would bellow in frustration, raising her feet to stomp.[break][break]

the onset of BLIZZARD is what causes poochyena to rub his body against alexander's leg, crying softly as he looks up at his trainer with puppy-eyes. alexander reaches down and picks the pupper up to cradle in his arms, rocking him to and fro ever so slightly to calm him down.

"i got you, buddy."

ERUPTION damages diggersby but not as much as the BLIZZARD does. the attack separates them, creates distance, and diggersby is left on his knees a few feet away, panting as his eyes narrow to a thin line. he's hurt, alexander sees it, but the ground-type has a spirit that mirrors that of a fire-type's.

pyukumuku remains relatively undamaged by the attacks, her typing helping her withstand the damage. she purrs softly, noticing how bad diggersby is looking. PAIN SPLIT gives diggersby much needed life and energy; she is happy to share the buden.

she is also happy to lend a HELPING HAND.

camerupt's CURSE has been doing nothing because of the TAUNT. diggersby clenches one of his fist-ears and slams it into the ground, causing the EARTH to QUAKE before two sharp spikes burst out of the ground, looking to hit both the camerupt and the castform.

the power is controlled, mindful to not damage her gym.

Stormy can't help but melt at how adorable Alex is with his puppy. She visibly awe's, smiling fondly towards the pair.[break][break]

The blizzard rages on, creating a useful barrier to keep Alex's Pokemon away from her own. As it dies down, Castform fully notices the Pyukumuku sitting in between the ears of the Diggersby. One brief glance at Tapiti confirms it.[break][break]

Instead of organizing another around of hail and ice, Castform seems to change his course of action.[break][break]

Tapiti notices the pain split, and although she is still fired up from the taunt from before, all of a sudden it seems to melt away. All of the rage from the past three turns has disappeared.[break][break]

She settles back, waiting patiently for Castform to turn things around. With both of Alex's Pokemon weakened, she's preparing.[break][break]

Stormy smiles a little bit, an affirming nod catches Castform's attention.[break][break]

The hail stops immediately and is replaced with a blistering heat. It nearly causes a tornado to spring up from the sudden change from hot and cold. Castform's SUNNY DAY opens up the clouds and brings out the sun. Almost immediately his form changes from a storm cloud to a blazing sun.[break][break]

Tapiti has parked her frame in her position, concentrating hard and absorbing as much energy from the sun as she can. A few more moments of waiting allow her to focus on her target. In a brilliant beam of power, Tapiti aims a SOLAR BEAM at the pair. [break][break]

The earth-quake has been almost useful in Tapiti's aim, as the rocks jut up just before she attacks, holding her in place. Castform is struck from the side, a piece of the earth glancing off of his body. It hurts more than it would have had he still been in the storm form. Tapiti seems mostly unfazed, and eventually shifts her weight to break apart the barriers holding her in place.[break][break]

the sudden halt of the HAIL is a telling indication of what's to come. he feels the change in temperature, feels the humidity increase and predicts her next move even before she makes it.

"up."

nodding, diggersby bends at his knees and shifts his body weight towards the ground. just as the SOLAR BEAM erupts out of camerupt, diggersby BOUNCES all the way up, soaring high above the ground with diggersby still comfortable on his head. he hovers for moments and avoids the full force of the attack, only to shift his weight forward to come plummeting down.

TOXIC coats his ear-fists as he slams out of the BOUNCE to punch the castform before turning and switching targets to HAMMER ARM the camerupt.

all the while, pyukumuku has been silently RECOVERING.

the switch from cold to hot annoys india who makes his distaste known with a growl. the poochyena nibbles away at alexander's fingers, but the champion does not mind.

Mouth agape, she watches as the Diggersby leaps out of the way of the solar beam. The powerful move explodes as it makes contact with the ground, showering the vicinity with chunks of rock and debris.[break][break]

Just as the Diggersby lands and Camerupt adjusts herself to quickly recover from her last attack, Castform is the next target. The ground-type bunny leaps towards him with his poisonous ears, prepared to jab him. Fortunately, Castform has become quicker and experienced at battling.[break][break]

He reacts instantly with a powerful FIRE BLAST before the opponent could land his attack. He immediately spins out of the way, floating higher in the air to maintain his distance.[break][break]

With the toxic narrowly dodged, it leaves Camerupt open to attack. Fortunately she is also prepared. Given her enormous size and additional CURSE she had placed on herself, she's well aware of the fact she's constantly open for attack. Her boosted defense protects her from the worst of the hammer arm, and she puffs smoke from her nose as she stomps her feet again, opening up another fissure in a clean circle around her.[break][break]

Stormy laughs out loud, having now realised what it is she's planned. There's a distinct look of distaste in the old girls eyes as she grunts to Castform. Sol immediately does as he's asked, performing an extravagant RAIN DANCE that summons a powerful downpour. It fills up the fissure-created moat Camerupt has built to protect herself. If that Diggersby wants her, he'll have to get wet.[break][break]

Growlithe, who was not at all upset about the sudden increase in heat, is now devastated to see that his fur is now soaking wet. He cowers between Stormy's legs and shivers.[break][break]

the powerful FIRE BLAST scorches the furs off diggersby's back, but thankfully he turns just enough that makes it so most of the attack hits pyukumuku. her water-typing is what absorbs most of the damage. after the HAMMER ARM connects, diggersby takes a leap away, bouncing to safety.

castform performs an elegant RAIN DANCE, beckoning for clouds to form and rain to pour. the changes in the weather is to be expected in a pokemon battle, but india is still too young to know any better. he shivers in alexander's arms, suddenly cold from the wet fur.

"sorry, india."

retrieving another pokeball, alexander calls out a lampent. she hovers close by, her blue fire keeping them warm. her hooded hat keeps her nice and dry from the rain as well. alexander nods a thank you.

he looks back to the battle, impressed at the makeshift moat that seems to have dissuaded diggersby from attacking. there is the option to simply attempt to leap over, but the ground-type peers down at the water and shakes his head.

pyukumuku RECOVERS one more time before once again SPLITTING the PAIN. it is through this tactic that will allow them to outlast their opponents.

diggersby slams one of his ear-fists down into the ground, causing an EARTHQUAKE. two sharp spikes bursts out from underneath camerupt and castform.

While Castform recovers from the fire blast, Camerupt stands idle in the middle of her makeshift moat. It seems to have done the trick, pausing the battle for long enough to gather her bearings. Another CURSE boosts her defences just a little bit more. She doesn't need to move if she's a literal wall.[break][break]

It doesn't seem to have stopped Diggersby entirely, however. While Stormy's team is slowly deteriorating and growing exhausted, Alexanders continue to pump out tons of energy. Stormy narrows her eyes at the Pyukumuku as it continues to recover and pain split between them. There was little to nothing Stormy could do to counter that.[break][break]

The rain continues to pour, the droplets splashing and soaking into the Camerupt's fur. It's uncomfortable and wet and she's thoroughly displeased, but otherwise still alert.[break][break]

Diggersby pounds his ear-fists into the ground in front of him and the act shakes up the moat. Water splashes and spills over the edge and for a moment, Tapiti's balance is lost. One hoof slips off of the edge of her island and she bellows in surprise and irritation.[break][break]

Sol conjures a powerful HURRICANE, the wind-storm picking up and carrying water, dirt, rocks, bits of branches from around the arena, anything that he can. He organizes it so that it surrounds Tapiti without hindering her too badly. The wind pulls at her fur and occasionally a stone glances off her backside. [break][break]

He's trying to section her off and protect her.[break][break]

The Camerupt begins to stomp her own feet, each one opening up a new crack in the ground. The earth shakes beneath her, threatening to engulf whoever dares come near her. But it's clear her movements have become slower and less enthusiastic. She's growing more and more exhausted with each passing turn.[break][break]

alexander curiously raises an eyebrow as he observes the battle. to section off one's own pokemon is an interesting tactic but it also works against them because it isolates the one. camerupt is clearly the harder hitter between the two but the multiple CURSES have rendered her slow and immobile. it is the very reason why it is now forced to stay on the moat and act as target practice.

the HURRICANE further traps the camerupt. he narrows his eyes at the development, slightly worried about the fire-type's well-being. he notices the castform as well, but deems it not a threat in the moment. the CURSE-boosted camerupt is the real threat.

"keep your distance."

the ground shakes, splitting into two as a FISSURE starts to form. the visible cracking gives diggesby enough time to hop out of the way, but it also forces him to create further distance between them and the camerupt. this would be a problem if he had no other means of attacking it. but he does. he just did the same thing last round.

with a HELPING HAND diggersby slams both his ear-fists into the ground, battling the currents of the FISSURE to send an EARTHQUAKE underneath camerupt's very feet, looking to split the earth until it is no longer stable enough for anyone to stand on.

alexander wants to call out to stormy, worried about the outcome of the battle, but holds his tongue. he knows how it feels to be told how to battle, what he should or should not do. it feels degrading. demoralizing. he will not put her through the same thing.

instead he keeps himself occupied by scratching the back of india's ears to keep him calm.

Just as Alex notices the predicament the Camerupt has put herself into, Stormy notices it as well. Her forehead creases and she begins to open her mouth to call out to them to stop.[break][break]

She's stubborn, however, and afraid of appearing weak. Her training with Fernando is a constant reminder. She doesn't want to fail.[break][break]

Tapiti feels the earth churn beneath her feet, but it's not of her own power. With a moan of surprise, she finds her hooves submerged in water. Castform panics, ceasing the rainfall and turning up the heat again. [break][break]

The slow-moving dual-type concentrates, heating up the mountains of magma that rest on her back. They've kept her warm for the most part, helped her withstand the power of Sol's hurricane. Now with the sunny day boosting her energy and strength, the ERUPTION she spews from her back drips down her legs and throws chunks of molten rock all around the arena.[break][break]

She uses the fallen lava as stepping stones as they rapidly cool the water and form into rocks. Technically, this is a strategy Stormy uses to repair the arena in the first place.[break][break]

Knowing full well that she is about to be ganged up on because of her lack of speed, she braces herself for impact while charging another SOLAR BEAM.[break][break]

Sol remains at a distance, fully realising that he is useless in battle.[break][break]

The moment the pair of fiesty Pokemon approach the Camerupt to attempt to finish her, she'll try to blast them with a point-blank, last-ditch effort.[break][break]

the way the RAIN suddenly stops gives away what's about to come. camerupt is on its last legs; the fire-type is only able to withstand so much before it's forced to succumb to the pain. when he feels the air start to dry just like it did before, he knows what's about to come.

"brace!"

pyukumuku's preemptive RECOVER prepares her for the attack. diggersby has no defensive moves so he's forced to use an AGILITY, his speed increasing just in time to battle the onslaught of ERUPTION that rains down upon them. hot, molten lava goes splat splat splat around them and diggersby never stops moving, not even for a second. the battlefield is big enough for him to move around, bouncing up and down, left and right, dodging all the fire-attacks. but in doing so puts him and pyukumuku right near camerupt.

a powerful SOLAR BEAM flies straight at them. they both understand the gravity of the situation and yet they cannot avoid it. like a deerling caught in headlights, diggersby stands frozen in place. but then he feels a sudden weight lift off of him and when he looks ahead, he sees the body of his smaller friend. he reaches out with both ears, mouth gasping but it's too late.

the SOLAR BEAM hits pyukumuku.

she takes the brunt of the damage, absorbing most of it and doing her best to protect her friend. her body flies back into diggersby's and he catches her, but that only means the impact forces him back as well. the two are sent flying across the gym before slamming into the ground.

despite this, alexander does not move.

india whimpers and cries and forces his trainer to release him. the young dark-type charges all the way across the battlefield, feet skidding but he only stops when he crashes into the body of the diggersby. india nudges his head against diggersby's body, sniffing.

after a few seconds, diggersby groans, eyes blinking as he shifts on the ground. his tummy faces the ceiling and he turns his head to the side to see his fallen friend. his eyes widen and he immediately jumps up. his ear-hands scramble to scoop her body up, checking for a pulse. a tear rolls down the side of his cheek.

lampent's flame dims. only now does alexander approach. india moves just enough to allow his trainer to kneel beside the ground-type. the champion places a hand on diggersby's shoulder, eyes fixed on his pyukumuku.

"she will be fine, buddy. look, you can see her breathing." he gestures down and true enough there is movement in how her body expands and collapses. this seems to calm diggersby down a bit. "try and feel her breaths."

to do that, diggersby lowers his friend into his other set of hands, which are much smaller and shorter than his ears. only then does he feel her breathing; faint, but stable. at this, diggersby releases the tension in his body and drops to the ground, sitting on his butt as he cradles pyukumuku in his arms.

"i am proud of the two of you. you might have lost the battle but you showed your spirit out there. you showed your connection. and to me, that is what matters the most."

diggersby nods, understanding, and he lets his two ear-fists fall around his trainer for a brief hug. alexander returns it, then stands up and steps back. at that, india takes it as his cue to rush forward to also try and hug diggersby.

Camerupt's legs give out from under her after her solar beam fires. Her face dips into the unsettled dirt and she heaves an exhausted sigh. [break][break]

Stormy gasps in shock at the power behind the grass-type move. It sends Pyukumuku flying backwards, it's tiny body limp as she hits the ground. Alex's Poochyena charges across the field, as does the Diggersby. Both stand over the fallen Pokemon with tears in their eyes, or shock, or horror.[break][break]

Her own heart sinks, and she finds that her hands have flown to her mouth.[break][break]

"Oh my God, Alex. Is she okay?"[break][break]

She, too, runs across the battlefield to stand next to them. Thankfully, it appears that the tiny little slug is alive and breathing, and she nearly falls to her knees in relief.[break][break]

Taking a deep breath to settle the dread that had set her muscles to stone, she shakes off her panic and attempts to smile at the pair.[break][break]

"Your Pokemon are so well coordinated, Alex. You should be proud. I can only hope I become half the battler you are."[break][break]

With a thud, Tapiti falls to her side in defeat. Sol remains close by, hovering anxiously around his fallen friend. Stormy rushes to the dual-types side, hands brushing the muddy fur around her face.[break][break]

"Tapiti, you fought so hard, but don't have to push yourself so hard to prove yourself to me, ever. This is a Pokemon battle, my friend, not a war. I trust you to be there for me when it counts, but right now I can be here for you."[break][break]

She moans, finally giving into her exhaustion and falling asleep with her head in her lap. Stormy returns her not long after, brushing dirt off of her clothes and smiling sadly.[break][break]

It only takes her a moment to rejoin Alex, and she pulls a badge from her pocket.[break][break]

"I carry these with me a lot. You definitely deserve it."[break][break]

as stormy leaves to tend to her own fallen pokemon, alexander is granted some time to reflect back on the battle. his pokemon fought well, there is no denying that, but there is room for improvement. movement, positioning, reaction; all of it needs to be analyzed so they can be worked upon. he considers it and has a rough idea of what needs to be done.

stormy returns to them not long after and he greets her with a warm smile. he notices the sad in her smile and ignores the badge, instead he pulls her in for a quick but tender embrace. he doesn't say anything. he simply holds her and caresses the back of her head.

he pulls away moments after.

"you and your team fought well! pyu-pyu will be fine. we have been through worse."

smiling, he accepts the badge from her. diggersby has noticeably relaxed after his earlier panic. india and lampent are the same; the dark-type's tail has even perked right back up, wagging slightly as he peers up at the shiny badge in his trainer's hand.

glancing around the battlefield, alexander lets out a soft chuckle.

"devon will be sure to cover the damages."

She's breathless as he pulls her in for a hug, and she hesitates only a moment before hugging him back. The stress she felt in regards to his Pokemon's condition shrinks as he lets go of her and assures her she'll be fine. [break][break]

"Good, that's good. I didn't mean to hurt her that badly."[break][break]

As the badge leaves her hand, she glances down at the curious Poochyena, smiling. With a deep breath, Stormy laughs a little bit as she, too, looks around at the mess the pair of them had made. [break][break]
"No, no, this was mostly my fault. Nothing a little lava and water can't fix, I'm sure."[break][break]

Growlithe had followed her across the field and was presently sitting between her legs, looking up at her curiously. Or maybe he was simply begging for food.[break][break]

She leans down a bit to give him a scratch around the ears.[break][break]

"I think someone's saying it's lunch time. Are you hungry?"[break][break]

Although, just as she asks it, she considers that Alex is likely busy and has other things to get to today. He had never specified how long he intended to visit.[break][break]
