"Did one of you find someone else?" She asked, refusing to give him the satisfaction of saying what she really meant out loud, despite his insistence that she do just that. In any case, her question was really the same thing, wasn't it? The censored version, perhaps.[break][break]
If there was one thing she would not let crumble, it was the trust between them. They might not always get along, but they were family. She did have their best interests at heart, no matter what Matias might think.

She frowns at Delilah, the woman finally acknowledging her statements as she moves over to Matias. [break][break]

part of her resented Delilah for being one of the silphs who left the region, returning for who knows what reason. he saw them during the dinner parties they attended together. They were so happy, so in love..one doesn't propose and then just ruin all of that. It goes against all logic. [break][break]

"Who was it Matias?" she says a little bit dissapointed and sad that Delly was correct. "I'm sure you had your reasons?" she says not wanting to give up on her brother, he was her hero, the war hero who tried to defend her home region. her eyes dart back towards Delilah. "It was deliciously sweet, but now it seems the people around it are feeling rather sour." she says resigning herself to just be a third wheel in this conversation.

Did it really matter? Of course it mattered. It all mattered. Eva Morales was a person with feelings, hopes, dreams. Matias himself had a heart buried somewhere beneath the bravado.[break][break]
Delilah stared at her siblings, the contrast between them: Yui, so petite and delicate; Matias, so tall and domineering. A sudden ache quivered through her at the sight of them. I've been away too long, she thought. The bitter claws of self-inflicted blame slashed at her heart, but she did not let it deter her from trying to make things right. She did not know any other way. Some might call it stubborn, but Delilah simply could not imagine retreating into the depths of her guilt.[break][break]
"You're only human, Matias," she murmured, trying to be gentle in the way some of her acting roles encouraged her to be, wary of patronizing him further. "Nobody is perfect. Not even someone chosen by a God."[break][break]
Groudon's influence on Matias hung between the three of them like an unpleasant stench. She didn't trust the creature not to corrupt her brother, already feeling as if its volatile nature had only further riled Matias into recklessness as of late.[break][break]
"More than I can ever know?" She repeated. "Then enlighten me, brother."

She stays silent for the most part, not protesting as matias moves to sit closer to her. She leans in slightly, unwilling to admit out loud she liked the physical contact with him as he was often the one who provided her comfort. [break][break]

She'd never admit it out loud though, if she spoke it then it'd become reality. [break][break]

"I mean not really, but it changes how people will perceive you." she responds to MATIAS SILPH as he was forgetting something "You see cheating on someone cause you were horny, makes people think of you as a bad person who doesn't care about others. But change the narrative to reflect that you were in love with someone and trapped in a loveless future marriage and suddenly it's a christmas special of you finding the one." [break][break]

Relating the situation back to Delilah Silph's speciality, after all who better to know how to influence public opinion and make people believe she is something she isnt.

"Avatars are not despised," Delilah sighed. Had he always been this black and white, lacking nuance in the same way he lacked manners? "Your former fiancée is one such person. The public adores her, and for good reason."[break][break]
She stood awkwardly as her siblings cuddled on the couch. For the first time since returning to Hoenn, she felt uncomfortably like the outsider she clearly was. She called upon her acting skills, pretending she were anybody but the woman who had abandoned her family for fame. It was always for them, she insisted.[break][break]
Somewhere, a memory stirred, like a dormant volcano beginning to wake. She rejected it, refusing to remember her life before the Silphs had taken her in. It didn't matter; it was inconsequential. She had a job to do.[break][break]
"You never answered Yui's question," Delilah murmured. "Public opinion is something I have sway over, but the best lies always carry a measure of truth to them."[break][break]
"You're welcome to work with me, Yui," she smiled at the younger woman, wishing it were a serious option. As if Fernando would allow it.

Was there a measure of self-loathing beneath his arrogance? Delilah pursed her lips, feeling torn. On one hand, he was so quick to dismiss Hoenn's citizenry - people he ought to be proud to protect, to represent - but on the other, she recognized that it wasn't exactly easy to live life constantly in the spotlight. She knew that better than most, didn't she? Always under the scrutiny of public opinion; something as simple as how she chose to wear her hair on any given day could cause some degree of uproar, depending on the public's mood. Matias dealt with pressure of a different flavor, but it was pressure none-the-less.[break][break]
