Angelo hadn't expected to be meeting with the commissioner so soon after skyler dross had announced to him her plans for an impromptu, league HQ invasion. Much less one that didn't see him herded into the confines of a stuffy, sealed office.

Yet here they were, him and the league's top figure, walking casually together down the sun-warmed jetty of his private hangar. Surrounded by the sounds of ocean water softly lapping at the support beams and planks creaking beneath their soles.

dahlia goode's request was accepted with the pilot's pleasure. He wasn't about to veto an opportunity to take their conversation to the openness of the sky - it would make the inevitable bureaucracy more palatable.

“Have you ever flown by seaplane before?” He asks curiously as they approach the white and blue craft, large floats allowing it to bob on the surface.

Angelo is happy to sate dahlia goode's curiosity.

Confidently, he steps onto the floatation device, using it as a platform to climb the ladder up into the cockpit.

“On the take-off and landing, mostly.”

With one hand and a single foot balancing on the rung, Angelo reaches inside to pull forward a headset for Dahlia to observe. Its curled cable stretching near taut.

“But once we're up there proper and flyin' steady, then it's no problem. We'll be able to hear one another with these.”

Returning the headset to its hook after the little show and tell, Angelo drops back down. Float gently dipping beneath his soles.

though she holds utmost trust in angelo's abilities, her nerves show in the uncertain placement of her footfalls. the way her gaze catalogues every detail.[break][break]

she wonders why she makes these silent motions. a fear of flight, perhaps. or the tumult of hoenn's contemporary history etching itself into her veins.[break][break]

"hoenn must look so small from up there." [break][break]

dahlia says loud enough for angelo to hear, but quiet enough for one to wonder if she is speaking to herself. [break][break]

"shall we board?" she balances herself on the flotation device, a hard grip on one leg of the ladder. "we can discuss your role in hoenn's future while admiring the view."

[attr="class","angelomain"]While she catalogues the aspects and functions of the seaplane, Angelo in turn catalogues her.

As he watches dahlia goode fidget and make wondrous comments, the pilot feels very much a sense he’s taking a fish out of water and into a stretch of endless blue - a sea of sky.

Turning over pebbles to see the hidden underside may be fascinating to him but Angelo knew not to lose sight of incoming storms, just because the horizon was clear. Dahlia was still the League’s head honcho, after all.

“Let's push off, then.” He confirms with a tilt of his head up the ladder, inviting her to scramble into the cockpit first. “Hoenn’s waiting for us.”

Once Dahlia had got herself buckled up into her seat and Angelo had routinely fiddled with the controls some, it’s time for take-off.

It’s just a hop, skip and a roar of acceleration from the engine, before they’re leaving the swell of the waves behind for smooth skies.

upon their ascent, a surprised chirp leaves dahlia's mouth and into the cockpit. the powerful whir of the aircraft engine takes them to the skies. from sea to sky, dahlia marvels at this new perspective.[break][break]

though many may soar on their salamence or corviknight, there is something to be said of flying by humankind's own merit.[break][break]

as they steady, dahlia begins business:[break][break]

"as you already understand, your wife and i made a deal." the commissioner says, speaking over the propeller's buzzing. "the deal does not include you. yet. i've heard of and have witnessed your exploits all around hoenn... your talents would certainly be an asset for us."

[attr="class","angelomain"]Clouds, wispy and dreamlike, float by the windows as they eventually reach the perfect height.

Angelo spins the trim wheel to maintain their altitude without need of his constant attention. To keep them drifting across Hoenn’s airspace where they could appreciate the view of sea and sky both.

He’d never get enough of it. This blue expanse of endless possibilities, reachable only if he desired it.

His gaze maintains focus on the beyond, even as Dahlia’s voice chimes in.

“I’ve heard a thing or two about it from her, yeah.” Angelo’s voice is tinny through the headset, smooth edge of his voice just the slightest distorted with static.

That a deal was up in the air between them was fine. After all, this wasn’t a one-sided meeting.

“You’re going to make me blush, commissioner.” With a slight tilt of the wheel, the aircraft begins to bank in a gentle slope to the right. Curving away from Lilycove. “What were you envisioning if I did join you, then? D'you have anything in mind for how my talents could help?”

Her words, not his.
