Melody was invited by Michael Navidson to go on a little walk in petalburg woods. She was excited as she had recently gone on another walk with dahlia goode that ended pretty positively in her opinion. [break][break]

However, Navy's message was rather cryptic as to why he wanted to meet up and so she was worried that something was wrong. He had indeed been acting a little bit different ever since the dream in Galar despite the fact that some time had passed...maybe this was related to that? Well she wasn't sure but at least she'd get to walk maksim. [break][break]

Her herdier began to bark wildly as an unfamiliar face accompanied by a familiar scent began to walk towards them and Melody was immediately thrown off.

What better place than the woods to go for a sunlit stroll? The woods still suffer and decay thanks to accumulated grudges. Even still, there is beauty. Anywhere the wind carries Melody is beautiful.[break][break]
Sitting on a stump, he looks up at her when she shows herself at the mouth of the trail. Time has taken its toll on him – six years, to be exact. Six years he’ll never get back. He looks more like the man he became in Galar, sleeping under a purple sky.[break][break]
Jessica, his buneary, recoils at the sound of the barking dog. She hides in the sheriff’s poncho. Patting her on the head, he speaks in a voice Melody could recognize.[break][break]
“Easy, girl.” Navy’s voice, but aged like rum in an oak barrel. Looking up at Melody, his eyes are the same. “Those space-time distortions Lopez was telling me about are no joke.” There’s something bitter in his tone. Six years is a heavy toll to pay for not much to show for it.

"Who are you? Where is Na-" she says as she begins to connect the dots "Wait, Navy? What the hell happen to you?" she asked as Maksim the herdier rushed towards him and began to lick him wildly as the man's scent was still the same and he greeted the man as he usually did.[break][break]

"The time distortion?" she asked as she walked towards him with concern and urgency in her voice.

“Hey, boy.” Navy’s smile is fond, remembering the Pokemon. Patting him on the head, he looks up at Melody when she draws near. “Yeah. I’ve been talking it over with the doctors at HQ. Nothing’s wrong on the inside. No cancers, tumors, anything like that. My body just got…older.” He supposes that doesn’t tell her what happened. “I was on a mission for the League, investigating one.”[break][break]
A pause as he looks at the sunlight streaming through the trees. Fall will soon be there. Come to think of it, they’ve almost known each other for a year.[break][break]
A year in this lifetime.[break][break]
“It changed color when I hit thirty in Galar, too.” He reminisces. When he follows up that point, the sheriff’s voice is softer. Grief grips him. “Still…don’t remember much, huh?”

Melody looks at him concerned but she starts to become more at ease when he explains that he's fine health wise. "But.." she says as she couldn't help but continue to worry about it all but she knew it would be an adjustment period. [break][break]

She shakes her head no "I don't still, it hasn't come back to me. I remember glimpses here and there but faces are blurry." as Maksim pushes off of Navy and starts to run around in circles around the pair and melody smiles at him. "Do you remember a lot from it?"

“Pretty much everything.” Or as much as a man could remember about twenty years of his life. Camping out under the sky, learning the quirks of his Spectrier, the sound of Gwyar Wledig ’s forges, the list goes on.[break][break]
“I remember dancing with you on our wedding night.” He says, as he’s said before. They’re useless words, or so he thinks. These words he’s said to her four times at different points across the three months since Galar. Each time they go in one ear and out the other. Each time it is a reminder that he must grieve for one who still lives.[break][break]
Fight. Find something to fight for. Find purpose in that fight.[break][break]
He whispers that to himself as he studies her reaction to the words. Jessica senses her trainer’s apprehension and tries to ease his heart with a hug. Navy gives the bunny a gentle pat on the head. He doesn’t understand how anyone could abuse such a sweet thing – the same thought he had, coincidentally, when Melody first told him about her mother.

He yaps wildly at her but melody just stares at navy, trying to process what he just said. "Our wedding night? What do you mean?" she says as she remembers marrying someone, but their face had been absent in every memory of hers, all she could remember was their features.

The man before her, parched for her love and affection, his body becoming more weather as if he had been wandering the desert for ages proclaiming she had children with him. "That's impossible I'-" she says before trailing off as she reaches for her stomach. She had children? [break][break]

The ring in her pocket setting his skin on fire as if the metal had become super heated, she hadn't pulled it out yet but instead reached into it and gripped it tightly. However, the hints were all there, their trip to mechanical kingdom, the silly comments she had disregarded. Had she been running from the truth this entire time? "How do I know you aren't just teasing me..? Two kids? Really?" she says as the hand over stomach grips her clothes. [break][break]

"N-no! You're not an awful guy!!" she says getting upset he'd ever say something about himself as he starts to move closer to her, she looks puzzled at first but her face quickly shifts as she longs for him to come and hold her, but she swore to herself to never let fear paralyze her again. She moves into him, going in to hug him. "Navy..I-" she says as she digs her face into his chest, it felt familiar to her, it felt comforting. She enjoyed this feeling but there was a problem, she couldn't remember it vividly. "Navy..why are you mourning me when I'm right here, I.." she says as she reaches into her pocket and pulls out their rings. [break][break]

"You're stuck on regaining what we had in the past..why aren't you focused on us now?" she says as her face turns red and she tries to fix his shirt as she realized she stained it with some tears and wrinkled it a bit and her eyes look up towards him. "I..I cant say I love you..but..I really ca-I like you...you..you dummy"

She freezes, however the fear the paralyzed her from the sudden kiss is slowly washed over with his body's heat. He pulls away and Melody is still frozen, however there were sparkles in her eyes. "Tha..tha.." she says as she suddenly looks puzzled "So was that my first kiss or not?" she asks him as she ponders the philosophical consequences. [break][break]

She melts into his embrace, she was so touched starve that it was overwhelming in a good way. "So does this make us official..? If I'm being completely frank I think I've had a crush since you walked in the door to be my body guard."
