Born in Slateport Town, Michael Navidson has lived in Hoenn his whole life. His younger brother, Gabriel, aspired to be a famous Pokemon trainer. Michael is a man who has walked the edge of both sides of the law. His parents died when he was young, forcing him to work from a young age to make money for himself and his brother. What he learned quickly is that he had a knack for finding things. People, missing property, anything else that needed finding. Michael could find it![break][break]

He bought his brother Gabe his first Pokemon during a festival at Slateport. A vendor was selling a Pokemon that he swore up and down was a rare, mighty beast. Gabe saw the little thing and begged his brother to buy him the Pokemon. Lo and behold, it was a Magikarp. Michael dismissed the Pokemon out of hand as a useless Pokemon. His brother told him there was no such thing as a useless Pokemon.[break][break]

Michael, meanwhile, caught himself a Skarmory. Old Ironsides, as Michael calls it, is his first Pokemon and longstanding partner. Old Ironsides proved an asset thanks to its flight and ability to spot things Michael himself could not. Day after day, Michael would come home to his brother training his Magikarp. Michael chuckled at his brothers’ insistence that the Pokemon could become anything remotely useful.[break][break]

After a few years, Michael ate his words. The Magikarp evolved into a Gyarados. Not too big to admit his mistake, Michael told his brother that, for once, he was wrong. Michael soon wished Gabe well, gave him some of his savings, and told him he could go on his journey if he wanted. Gabriel set out with wide eyes and a heartfelt desire to take on the world.[break][break]

Like so many would-be heroes, he died. It was not a glamorous thing. In one of the many incidents the Hoenn region has endured in the past few years, he passed away as a civilian casualty. Michael was devastated. His last living family is gone now. Remembering a promise he made to his brother when he set out from home, Michael has decided to undertake the League challenge to honor his brother’s memory. [break][break]

Inevitably, he’ll take a few side-jobs along the way.
