From the dock in Dewford Town, Thomas, and his Pokemon, had just finished securing the supplies to the boat. With the load strapped down, Thomas would join his partner, a man he was now all too familiar with.

Once they had set sail for the island, Thomas finally turned to the sheriff, breaking the silence between them.

"Navy, how've you been?", Thomas asked the man.

Regardless, he’s thankful for the company. Ordering his deputies to load up the ship, he steps on, nods at the captain. They’re off, off to war. Off to the island.[break][break]
“As good as I can be, Tom.” His voice is apprehensive. A moment later, he sighs. “That sounds dodgy, doesn’t it? We’re going off to war. People are gonna die and the League doesn’t even know what’s inside the mountain. Trying to make peace with that.”

Truth be told, Thomas didn't expect to be let off so easily. Perhaps it was his pessimism at play, but he was still grateful for the mercy that dahlia goode granted him. It was a second chance that he didn't plan to squander.

"I understand where you're coming from. I'd have gone with a more - covert approach myself. Keep the discovery under wraps, as best as possible, and keep quiet about the expedition team. But seeing as Rocket seemingly found this potential resource at the same time, and they're willing to fight, it has to be something. Let's just hope whatever it is, it's worth all the trouble and bloodshed.", he'd respond to the sheriff.

“Part of me thinks this is a cover for something.” That nervous notion makes him look back at the town he’s leaving behind. He spares a prayer for the deputies left to defend the place.

"Two weeks? Any idea what they were planning to do before Rocket forced our hand?", Thomas inquired.

"Right. Truth be told, I'm worried about those who did join us being captured. Would rather not have a repeat of what happened with Elinor.", he'd confide.

His part in the rescue of Elinor Anderson helped contribute to the sweetheart deal he had gotten. That, and the fact that even at his worst, he explicity avoided targeting innocent people.

"Back when the Mossdeep shitshow went down, Rocket attempted to take Fallarbor and Verdanturf while most of us were dealing with that shit. I was there, in Verdanturf, holding the line against the Rockets accompanying Silas.", he'd begin.

To this day, he lamented the fact that he wasn't among those who got to kill SILAS BLACKWELL. After all the pain and suffering that man caused, he wanted a piece of him.

"You think they're planning something similar to that? Attempting to gain more ground in the Region, while we're fighting over all this?", he'd ask, getting to the point.

Even with the intel provided by being AQUA’s newest member, most of it amounts up to speculation. “The saving grace is this: Rocket has the same problem as the League. If there’s so much as a whiff of trouble, they send out everything they’ve got.”[break][break]
Pacing the ship, he looks off to the horizon. There’s a cigar perched in his lips. He supposes it’s an inspiring sight for the troops and the people of Dewford. Even if he feels a thousand daggers piercing his gut, he projects an image of confidence for those who can’t hear the words.[break][break]
“Just think ‘bout all the masked people. It’s the same masks over and over again. Clearly some of ‘em are important in the org. Even if they’re not open like bryan delarosa or Cillian Quinn, they’re big cheeses. If we see all the usual suspects out there today, we’ll know we’re probably good.” Another look is cast back to Dewford, growing smaller with every wave. “Probably.”

Thomas listened to what the sheriff had to say, and realized that he had a point. Though in all honesty, he was worried less about the masks they'd encounter on the battlefield, but about the masks that went unaccounted for.

Most specifically, the mask of the man he had encountered twice. Both as Wraith, during the battle of Littleroot, and as himself in the Ultra Sea. Though he didn't know it, the mask he was thinking about was that of jayden cross.

"Good point.", Thomas replied to the man. Thomas would flash a hip flask to the man, before quickly putting it away. It was clear that he hadn't opened it, yet. No, he was saving that for the aftermath of the battle.

"Here's to hoping I drink this in celebration of a victory, rather than in lamentation of another defeat.", Thomas told Michael with a dry chuckle.

"I don't plan on drinking this until the battle's truly over.", Thomas assured sheriff. "But if I'm working with the League again, I'm gonna need this shit to survive.", he'd continue.

Perhaps it was his paranoia, but something compelled Thomas to release his Clawitzer from his Pokeball. "Colt, shadow us.", he told the Clawitzer, who'd dive under the water, waiting for trouble to rear its ugly head.

"Right, I don't know how I survived listening to that vain blowhard Cole every time we had a meeting.", Thomas commented, a light chuckle escaping him. "I don't know if you should be thanking him, or if you should punch him in the dick for that.", Thomas remarked, again in a playful manner. "But seriously, congrats on the promotion.", he'd tell the sheriff with sincerity.

"Sounds good to me, man. If we win, drinks are on me.", he'd promise the Gym Leader.

The Clawitzer would emerge from the depths. The crustacean with the oversized pincer began to urgently cry out to Thomas, as if warning him that danger was on the way.

"Looks like shit's about to get exciting.", Thomas remarked, a grin manifesting.

His heart’s gold, but that brain of his is too savvy for its own good.” With a crack of his neck, he’s ready. He expects fire from Rocket. Maybe a sweep from the sky, wide-eyed bombardiers dropping payloads.[break][break]
It’s worse. At least in Navy’s mind. What comes instead is that smell. Since April, that smell’s lived in the back of his synapses. Interdream mist. The good stuff.[break][break]
“Hattori!” His partner in crime, the most miniscule Greninja the average person will ever see, appears from the shadows. When the Roaring Moons descend, Hattori greets them with water shuriken to the neck. It’s not enough to kill, but it throws off their attack vectors. They’re sent down into the drink, where other agents are there to give them cause for concern.[break][break]
“This…just got a whole lot more complicated.” He says as another of the Roaring Moons tries to pelt the deck with dragon fire.

The lighthearted chitchat between the two would be interrupted. Not by Rockets, but by Paradox Pokemon, all spawned from the Interdream Mist. A swarm of Roaring Moon, all of them converging onto the ship.

Colt is quick to act, firing off an Aura Sphere at one of the Roaring Moon. Though this wasn't enough to bring the beast down, it did manage to get its attention, diverting it, and a few others, away from the cargo.

As the primordial Salamence attempt to pelt the ship with dragon fire, Thomas sent out his Iron Valiant, Artanis, to deal with them. Thanks to their Fairy-typing, the Iron Valiant was able to absorb the attacks of the dark dragons with ease. In retaliation, the hybrid knight unleashed a Dazzling Gleam at the attackers.

Hattori nods, doing just that. Swinging from dragon to dragon, he rides the waves of air and confounds them. The dazzling light of aura spheres and fairy gleams provide a kaleidoscope of color in the background, an electric light show to start their day off right.[break][break]
A second Pokemon is thrown out. Much like Vortigern is a supermassive Garchomp, Arthur is an oversized example of a Kommo-O. Navy’s sync stone roars to life, surging with power. Arthur prepares himself for the battle, ringing his armored scales together. His clangorous soul resonates with Navy.[break][break]
Ice gathers around Navy’s fist. It is no trick, no fluke. Navy has at his disposal a Pokemon move. As a Roaring Moon swoops down, Navy jumps up. He levels the ice punch at the Pokemon’s soft belly. It cries, taking back to the sky.[break][break]
“Sygna suits just got an upgrade!”
