"That so?" He doesn't believe it, but he wants to. His restaurant in Lilycove is booming, and his restaurant in Mauville is just as exclusive. Half the towns in Hoenn would dream for Preston Fugu to make an appearance and open a restaurant, yet he didn't.

Dewford. An island sitting on top of a dragon. It was a risky business venture. A dangerous one, with minimal chance of anything positive coming from it. Cooking for a war-torn town didn't have many benefits, but...

"Dewford has the best Tentacool in the region. The poison they produce is exotic, and the flesh of Octillery is..." Preston tailed off, before scowling. "Dammit."

...it was a challenge too delicious to ignore.

"I'll think about it." Preston begrudged. The best they were going to get, but for the chef, it was essentially a 'yes' with extra steps. Many people dealt with 'no', Preston did the opposite. Besides, it'd let him make amends for what he had done when he was younger.

Could a former Rocket find redemption through cooking?

Probably not, but it was worth a shot.

"I'll take that ride." Preston extended a hand.

John Sullivan's healing scales help more than her efforts had, and for that Luka is very grateful. Of course, it's not really her place to be— Eva Morales is the one he's helping, after all. Still, in a world where it's so easy just to focus on one's own survival, she always appreciates finding the ones like her, who put others before themselves.[break][break]

It's a spark of hope amid an otherwise bleak existence, and she clings to it as best she can.[break][break]

Even so, Doug's assessment is most likely correct. "This is bad, isn't it?" Her teeth worry her bottom lip. Everything that had happened above their heads was little more than a blur, but from the way Rocket is retreating now, it seems they must have gotten something out of this.[break][break]

She'll have to ask Remiel Calcifet about it— some other time, though. He's too busy screaming right now.[break][break]

Luka sighs as she stands and continues to offer her mount to Eva Morales and anyone else who might need it. For now, it seems that just getting out alive is the best they can do.
