As much as it pained her, she understood where he was coming from. It would've been annoying to see him waltzing in, arm coiled around around another woman's waist, their hand tethered to his. Just as it was annoying to watch ollie morales flaunt that scientist in front of the entire guest list.

Looking back up, the sunlight leading her eyes, Penelope was greeted by a wide, fixed smile and outstretched hand. In it's palm was promised relief. All she needed to do was accept. To cast away thoughts of the world for one night and let ignorance act as her shield.

In that moment, surrounded by the glow of firelight and the warmth of chatter, life felt like a recording of the past. A moment still trapped in the amber of time, immune to mortal corruption.

but he is leaps and bounds ahead of her and that much becomes clear not long into their dance. he channels the energy of the song well, moving with the song instead of against it.[break][break]

A short, hearty laughter billowed through her nostrils. Around and around again, they spun like a carousel, their energy as bright as the colors that would adorn the horses. By the end of the first song she'd found her turned into a dreidel, unable to stop without another force hampering her spin.
