a couple weeks ago, aaron had gone in for his elite four interview. at the time, he and Greyson Connors had agreed that kyle lopez is never giving up his top champion spot. [break][break]he knows the elite four are a defense force, but he always imagined his roommate chilling in his chamber until his monthly challenger shows up. [break][break]"what's the pay look like for champ rank? don't wanna be salary-diffed once i get in there," he smirks, boyish and overly confident. [break][break]his blaziken stops bouncing and raises its fists near its face, unfurling its talons on one hand to gesture at the samurott. at aaron's side, his pikachu copies the fighting pokemon's movements.

Samurott's eyes flick open and, as graceful as a cat, gets into a ready stance. From beneath its spiked helm the water-type watches his opponent.

"No clue." He shrugs. "Less than me, anyways. The issues that would cause? He whistles.

His attention gradually shifts as the fight kicks off proper. Bene the Samurott jets forward, blade edged in green light, as he prepares a FURY CUTTER.

Yet something about its movements seem odd. It was slower than one might've expected. Odd.

aaron is none the wiser to Greyson Connors's laugh, nor the relationship between noah faber and kyle lopez. he nods somberly, remembering how upbeat and cool the gym leader had been in the chasm. it's hard to imagine him not like that.[break][break] aaron wonders if he should buy noah something — or maybe invite him to run rounds with him and CIAN MAHER to take his mind off everything. [break][break]"shit. i guess."[break][break]less than me is an obvious yet disappointing answer, but a less than me salary is higher paying than the donuts he's been making. [break][break]to his SPEEDBOOSTED blaziken, everything is slow. the shifted stance, the forward momentum, the glitter of the samurott's blade — all of it is almost frustratingly sluggish to the fighting-type. it BOUNCES over the samurott, coming back down with a drop kick.

The Blaziken's unnatural speed catches Samurott off-guard; the first and last, he reassures himself.

Using his blade like an anchor, Samurott comes to a jacking halt.

Eyes lance up to track the falling Blaziken, its speed momentarily falling off as it slowly builds to terminal velocity.

Still, it was fast.

As the kick makes contact, Samurott parries it against the flat of his blade. Momentum carrying him, he RETALIATES with a vertical slash.

blaziken's heel connects with the flat of the samurott's blade. the fighting-type growls and pushes off its seamitar, feeling the RETALIATE cut up through its leg feathers as it goes. it lands at a distance, adrenaline thrumming through its veins as blood wells up in its wound. [break][break]"heh ... you got the first blow," aaron observes, arms folded against his chest. "but we're not done yet."[break][break]muscles tensed, blaziken explodes towards the samurott with a fist crackling with electricity. it feints left, then swings a hook with its right.[break][break]

"Soon to be the last" Greyson counters with a confident smile.

Electricity dances along the feathers talons of his opponent, and he misreas the feint, taking the strike on a barely timed, raised forearm.

His SHELL ARMOR protects him from the majority of the attack but the muscles in that area lock and seize.

Grunting, Samurott lowers his head and thrusts a MEGAHORN forward, driving it into his opponents clavicle.
