Letting out an exhale, the blonde brought his nerves back down to base best he could as they wandered through the Fiery Path. His instincts were kicking in again, telling him that something could be there. Something might be, probably is, there. Brown eyes darted to and fro, and while his body language and expressions indicated a calm, his mind was boiling of possibilities of what could jump out.

A Stunky petered by, but didn't pay them any mind. Josh watched it from the corner of his eye, but it didn't attack. And thus he left it alone. It wasn't something he wasn't interested in catching at the moment after all.

"WRRRRRRRR"

The sound of a flaming ball heading for them caused Josh to grab Lightning and scoop him up, before rolling to the side just in time to dodge. The Flame Wheel wielding Pokemon would slam into the rocky wall behind them, causing the cave to begin to rumble a bit. Figuring it would take more than that to cause a cave-in, Josh turned his attention to the Pokemon that had clearly decided the Trainer and his Raichu were a threat to their domain.

When the dust settled, he wasn't sure what Pokemon he was seeing. It was nothing he had seen or heard of, and he quirked a brow at the revelation. But his excitement at the prospect of a battle with it only grew at this. And clearly, a fight was what it wanted.

"Lightning, Thunderbolt."

He made the command calmly as Lightning snapped into action without hesitation. Josh needed a few breaths as the battle began. It had been a little while since he had really gotten into a battle of this kind... He'd spent so much time with his family and with settling the move, he was a little out of practice. But he'd get his groove back quickly, he knew.

"Rai... CHUUUU!"

Lightning's cheeks sparked as the Electric Rodent fired a surge of electricity before the thing could attack again, hitting it dead on. The creature wasn't finished though, and would curl into a ball again before launching itself at Lightning, covered in flames once more. Josh threw his arm to the side before calling out. "Thunderpunch!" Josh commanded, and sparks once again generated from Lightning, this time from his fist as he charged forward. "RAAAAIIIII!" Lightning cried out as he intercepted the Flame Wheel, taking some damage in the process but managing to stop the Flame Wheel in its tracks. Josh took the opportunity to grab a Pokeball from his bag then. He let out a low exhale as he stared at it... Eyes widening at the prospect of catching another Pokemon for the first time in so long. The adrenaline flowing through him from this battle was... It was incredible. And the anticipation before a catch...

He didn't hesitate further. Tossing the Pokeball at this new Pokemon, he hoped for the best.
