He knows better than to push a point when there are superiors in the room, so he does not, but his gaze does shift and then narrow to when fern delaney takes the stage. What starts as pride shadows into disappointment as fern delaney questions the very earth they stand on — as they question Kanto.

[break][break] Jayden's mouth is quick to open, but Underboss Beckett answers first. He nods in agreement. "Underboss Beckett is correct. Kanto is our heart. We are merely it's appendages, set to act in the way they see fit." It has always been that way, in any of the many reports probably sent to the motherland; Jayden didn't see why this particular fact would be any different.

[break][break] "To that effect," he says, speaking of Amor Rose's words. "Kanto brought me back from Cinnebar with Kaname Fujihara for that use, and I've also been working on assisting recruits from Kanto to fill in our ranks ever since METENO."

[break][break] The conversation shifts back to the power of legendaries and the DRK Triad.

[break][break] "I agree with Head Scientist Naomi Sato that Maldacena isn't entirely trustworthy. We should be cautious."

[break][break] After all, not only the RKS simulations, but the time in Cyberspace had taught them that.

[break][break] "He may just want to keep us alive for his own curiosity, not because he wants Hoenn itself to survive. It would be dangerous to assume otherwise." His eyes flicker to BARNABY FINCH, and then over to the scientists as they confirm that there is no way - not currently, at least - for them to contact Malcadena. Privately, Jayden thought that was for the best. The DRK Triad seemed more dangerous than they were helpful, and he doubted that they would think kindly of him either, especially since he'd tried to attack one of them during Littleroot. "But that does not mean we cannot proceed. As Admin Bee mentions, we can just tread with caution."

[break][break] "It all matters," he said to mint frost. "If Malcadena is to be believed, the ORIGIN POINT will likely include that cataclysm as well as many others." Rocket, the DRK Triad, Kyurem, the Rifts, Ruinous Beasts. All of it would coalesce into a moment in time that would end them all. "Allowing the League to get their hands on the Ruinous Beasts or befriending the DRK Triad is undoubtedly an imminent threat."

[break][break] When bryan delarosa speaks up, Jayden blinks. As much as Jayden hated MATIAS SILPH, he had to conceded that the other brought up a point.

[break][break] "The League does not have loyalty the way we do — they are a mess of moving parts. Killing dahlia goode would surely send them in shambles. At least for a time."

[break][break] His lips tip into a frown.

[break][break] "But is she not just a replacement for Commissioner Ulysses?"

[break][break] "The danger is not individuals but the League's ideologies. The League's loudest voices, including MATIAS SILPH, that allow people's opinions to be skewed into falsities. The League is like a hydra that will just regrow it's head once chopped off."

[break][break] The League had about the same amount of intelligence as one too. It would be only so easy to kill dahlia goode and then have it be replaced by a blithering fool of equal potential.

[break][break] "Chopping off it's heart is another matter entirely." A considerate look passed by his mind's eye. "Or replacing the head with one of our own."

[break][break] Was it a matter of loyalty or power? What would be the thing that allowed the Unown to ally themselves with Rocket instead of the organization that they were currently with? What had the Drk Triad done to them to form that bond? Was it a bond that could be broken?

[break][break] But those were questions of a higher authority. Questions that Jayden lay Rocket's Science division to unravel. He had the utmost faith in Naomi Sato that she would be able to do so — and so he let the question lay to rest.

[break][break] As the question turns to Kanto, the air shifts. It is in a subtle way, one that not even Jayden is aware of. Where other people's memories are always fraught with trauma when referring to Rocket's origin point, Jayden usually finds only comfort. It is his family after all, his home.

[break][break] But he looks at Nomi now, thinking of the things he saw in his version of the Ultra Deep Sea, and the things that he unknowingly subjected fern delaney to.

[break][break] 'They were murdered. By their own test subjects.'

[break][break] It seemed that Naomi Sato had her own terrors as well.

[break][break] His lips turned into an upside down crescent moon and he stepped forward to close the distance between them both. He was reminded of the time spent with Ashley Shepard before the raid began, and the moment that had been shared between them both.

[break][break] Was he sorry because he hadn't known? Was he sorry because now he had?

[break][break] Silently, wordlessly, Jayden pulled his sister into a one-armed hug.

[break][break] but even so, he can exercise sympathy. he understands, if only a little bit, how difficult it can be. to be unable to wake up from a nightmare. he steps away from the beast, walking across the island to open the fridge. he pulls a tray of fruit, one of which is an orange. a sting of memory reminds him of Felix Gallagher, who he hasn't heard from either. setting it onto the island, he picks one up and pulls apart the skin, slowly and carefully.

[attr="class","star2"] Jayden is a little overprotective but that may have been true of either man in the room. It is only made more obvious now, because of everything that had happened to them both, and only now because he is on edge ever since MATIAS SILPH transgressions.

[break][break] When mint frost asks, Jayden is compelled to give an answer. His words are about as straight-forward as a bullet train.

[break][break] "A member of the DRK Triad. A disguised League member. A Megalopolan."

[break][break] His lips twist into a grim line, only pulled away by the sound of their voice. Still not willing to move too far away from them, Jayden does slide minutely to the side. Only so that mint frost can have a glimpse of them.

[break][break] Still reluctant, still greedy to have all of their attention but it is Mint, so he can afford to be sparing.

[break][break] A hand curls against their shoulder as they lean into him, blinking with surprise. "Stalkers?" His lips tip into a frown. "I will have to check my intel and then dispose of them."

[break][break] It is said with such mundaneness that one may mistake it for seriousness — but anyone who knew the Rocket Admin well (which, of course, would be the only two others in the room) would know it was a joke.

[break][break] A click of his tongue, and one of his ghosts appears out of the floor like smoke.

[break][break] "Midna. Go help him."

[break][break] The sneaky Banette cackles, before dipping into the floor again and then reappearing on the opposite side of the room. With shadowy claws, she pries the wooden door open and hangs upside down from it, offering it to the Beast.

[break][break] As that is done, Jayden's gaze slides over Fern's in silent question.

[break][break] 'Do you want to ask him now, or should I?'

[break][break] Jayden's gaze flashes like steel in the darkness of the shadow grotto.

[break][break] He shares more with the Legue's freya morningstar than simply a shared neck-bite.

[break][break] "He ended former Underboss Chu-e Choi's life, attacked Littleroot for the League's far-fetched "cause", as well as impeded us at the Ancient Tomb. it isn't the first time he's seen it, but it is the first time that he considers it relevant. jayden's face pinches together with concern as the silence in the apartment takes up more space, the sound of the beast chewing on the straw the only thing that echoes there.

"fern's at work," jayden reminded mint, sliding off his shoes by the door. his fingers ghosted over the security panel, locking it securely, before he stepped into the monochrome space.

[break][break] in the time that he and fern delaney had been together, his apartment had made a subtle shift from cold and unassuming to slightly warmer. there was evidence of the other admin littered all across the apartment. none of which was as adorable as lada and hesus cuddling on the slate-gray couch, with a multi-colored blanket draped over them.
