"i haven't," she replied, simply.

ditto were forest creatures, so she wouldn't be surprised if the pink and sentient blob had gone beyond the four walls of their home. and cait had been far too preoccupied with busywork to notice the pokemon's presence; naturally prioritizing her chores above all else.

"actually there was something i needed to talk to you about."

the woman's tone was worryingly flat as she continued to tend to their laundry, her hands lovingly ensuring that her husband-to-be's wardrobe was properly folded.

"regarding your... work," she continued.

finally she raised her gaze, her eyes only slightly narrowed and her features lightly pinched.

the young mother closely observed the first meeting between fernando and the infants. her twins blinked up at him, their features revealing only innocent curiosity. this man, after all, was unfamiliar. his features differed heavily from their father's or grandfather's attributes, causing their combined gazes to fixate upon him.

"i am," she responded.

cait paused briefly, inclining her head as her eyes narrowed slightly.

"children are our future, after all. and i want to make sure they have a positive influence in their life. you know how impressionable little ones can be."

she intended for her children to grow to admire fernando and possibly emulate him as they mentally developed into young adults. he was a successful man who boasted an admirable reputation. by branding him as their uncle, it was likely they'd follow his example.

"how are you, by the way? i hope you've been taking care of yourself."

her analytical gaze swept over his solid frame.

"did you eat recently?"

he'd discover his wife-to-be sitting cross-legged upon the living room floor. freshly washed baby clothes, cloth diapers, towels and their own clothing were resting in a large laundry basket at her side. she had only just begun when he had made his presence known, cait's slightly bemused gaze raising to peer at her male counterpart.

"something wrong, baby?"

cait paused briefly, her senses seeking to detect any amount of whimpering that could have originated from enca or primrose. blessed silence and the occasional coo was heard, which caused her to relax somewhat.

'they just ate. and i changed them half an hour ago. so they should be fine.'

she continued to fold the laundry, returning to her chores without missing a beat.

"i know that tone. did you lose something again?"

her cheeks warm a little in response to the compliment.

"do i?"

she was relieved when he located his prize, bouncing enca lightly as she began to fuss.

'i think they need to eat soon.'

the pack she wore contained two filled bottles containing her breastmilk that would effectively satiate the twins. cait typically wore breast pumps during her chores so she could prep future meals for the girls. it was a pricey purchase for the newest model; but it was well-worth it.

"you hungry, baby?"

she checked on primrose as well, who was in a similar enough state.

"senon, the girls need to eat soon. we should find someplace to settle for a little while."

cait noticed senon's contemplative expression shortly after.

"something wrong?"

her attention flitted toward the tree, noting the glistening honey.

cait's heart swelled and her eyes stung as she squeezed him back. her fondness for fernando hadn't waned, the woman's adoration remaining steadfast despite the passage of time. she had leaned slightly into his hold, relishing the rare show of physical affection. he smelled of cologne with a hint of shaving cream, the scent tickling lightly at her nose.

"thank you for coming to visit," she said. "i really wanted you to meet your nieces."

cait peered up at him with shining eyes once his hold loosened. he was her family - and while they weren't tied by blood - there was an easily identifiable bond that was shared between the two. she grinned as she revealed the gender of her children, the information still relatively fresh and only a month old at this point.

"you'll be the first one aside from the grandparents to meet them in-person."

she led him in, gesturing toward the children who were settled within their own swings. he'd discover that they were quite small - like their mother - and also dramatically different in appearance. while enca retained the features of her father down to his skin-tone and hair; primrose had taken entirely after cait, her skin dark; her curls tight and her eyes a shimmering green - the genetics revolving around their creation causing the sisters to not to look at all like - well - sisters.

"the one who looks like me is primrose," she said. "and the one that looks like senon is enca."

the babes suckled idly on their pacifiers, though their gazes were soon fixed upon fernando. hypno sought to distract them again with the colorful blocks, their attention soon returning to the hovering toys.

she jerks awake, blinking rapidly as she clears her vision. hypno was in the midst of entertaining the twins, levitating colorful blocks before the girls and manipulating them into intricate patterns; her daughters were utterly fixated. the blocks froze into what appears to be a smiling face, the psychic-type's pinprick gaze shifting toward the door.

cait stood and wiped at her mouth whilst fixing her hair, the curly mane tied into her signature ponytail. pulling a compact mirror from her pocket, she checked over her appearance before standing and making her way toward the door.

"fernando!"

she'd greet him with enthusiasm, her eyes alight with delight. now that she no longer boasted a pregnant belly, cait could properly embrace the man.

"it's been ages," she commented, tittering softly.

he'd likely notice she appeared to be slightly tired. the heaviness in her eyes could not be concealed behind her makeup - which was lighter than usual.

"sorry. i look like a bit of a mess, don't i?"

cait absently plucked at her wrinkled shirt and brushed lightly at her denim trousers.

"come in - come in."

"typhlosion. you know what? i'm half-tempted to say yes. maybe she'll settle down after a litter or two. as long as yours is interested, of course."

she was considering returning the pokemon, as the female made yet another attempt at playfully butting her head against the male. the first suggestion was an good one - but the second...

"he's old, baby," cait responded, plainly. "i highly doubt he has much of an interest in that anymore. then again - i did see a documentary about really old couples being super - well -active."

at the moment the old grass-type was in a passable state. but he was sleeping far more than when he had initially been surrendered into her care - and cait often prodded him whenever she feared he had departed in his sleep. she was usually rewarded with raspy grumbles, the pokemon turning his bleary gaze upon her.

"...!"

cait blinked as her vision was abruptly submerged in a partial darkness, the presence of the shades startling her somewhat. she didn't immediately remove them, instead quirking a brow at her husband-to-be. enca giggled at the sight of her mother, having never before seen the woman with such a strange accessory.

"you sure whatever you're looking for is out here?"

she tilted her sunglasses up, squinting a little as her gaze narrowed in on tree after tree. they were widely spread apart, thankfully enough - and the ground was blessedly even here.

in comparison to senon's typhlosion, her own pure fire-type was... rambunctious. at the moment she persisted on wandering ahead, openly relishing the climate and the change of scenery. she'd roll in the soot-covered earth or nibble experimentally at the dry grasses. amusedly enough, she was also partially fixated on her male and transformed counterpart.

it wasn't unusual to see her nipping lightly at the underside of his jaw, before hopping away in a playful motion as she attempted to bait him closer. cait had to shoo her away multiple times with a firm tone behind the command, causing the pokemon to give a little huff before she returned to sniffing at a nearby tree that was utterly barren in honey.

"sorry, typholsion," cait said, directing the apology at her fiancee's companion. "i think she's close to being in season since summer's coming around. so she's in a strange mood."

the woman pulled her attention away from the fire-type, deciding to rely upon her own experience as a botanist as she pointed in a seemingly random direction.

"let's try over there. there's a little more shade and the grass is healthier down that way as well. just barely - but that tells me that there's possibly a water source nearby. which means there may be more trees we can look over."

the topic of their intimacy had been brought up only occasionally following enca and primrose's birth. she had needed time to recover - followed by her schedule being filled with filled diapers, copious amount of baby powder, bottled milk and chores. their moments had been restricted to 'grandparent mondays' and whenever she allowed her pokemon to take over watching the children.

her sex drive had decreased, but it was gradually building back up to what it once was.

"so we're looking for a tree?"

the snom helped quite a bit, with primrose quieting as cool air brushed gently against her skin. her gaze had followed her father, the girl having already decided to favor her sire.

"if it's honey you want we have a decent supply at home."

cait had two vespiquen that she tasked with occasionally delivering a jar of the stuff. it lasted them for several months and tasted just fine.

'now i'm curious how mt. pyre honey tastes like in comparison.'

traveling with the twins in tow proved to be... interesting. it presented a few challenges, but it was worth introducing them to new environmental stimuli. the climate of mt. pyre dramatically differed from that of fortree; the amount of warmth and the taste of the air noticeably different. while enca didn't appear to be effected in the least - primose barely tolerated the change.

the girl whined and fussed non-stop before she eventually settled, effectively calmed once she was placed within her daddy's arms for a prolonged period of time.

"enca doesn't mind it as much," cait commented.

while primrose was presently being carried by her gardevoir, the young mother had taken to carrying enca; who barely reacted to the humidity as her round eyes took everything in.

"but primrose and i certainly do."

the woman frowned slightly at their surroundings... because it reminded her of stormy.

"maybe we should have went to the beach," she remarked.

following the birth of the twins she had developed a routine that was somewhat rigid in nature. it involved a consistent schedule of feeding, chores and brief periods of relaxation. at first there was a learning curve and a sizeable adjustment period, but she struggled through it with the aid of fiancée and her pokemon.

'thank the goddess that i have so much help.'

the twins were quite a handful. and with senon having already returned to work, she handled the responsibility of ensuring the pair were tended to around the clock. and while cait couldn't deny that it was hard, she also found it immeasurably fulfilling. especially as she observed her daughters begin to grow little by little.

"there we go - all clean."

she animatedly spread her hands and fingers apart, the grin she wore comically wide; the babes giving their own adorable smiles in reaction as they cooed at their mother. cait shook her hands free of baby powder, raising her verdant gaze to check the time.

"alright you two. now that you're all clean we can head into the living room. hypno? can you grab enca?"

hypno and her gardevoir served as the primary caretakers among her pokemon. they were thoroughly educated prior to the twin's birth and had volunteered prior to taking on the responsibility. hypno was especially eager to help as she remained at her mistress's side, the human-sized pokemon expertly handling the lightly wriggling babe.

the sisters were gingerly deposited into their own baby swing, cait turning on the interactive toys that hovered above their heads. this served to entertain the pair as she settled on the couch, cracking her neck and stretching out her body with a yawn.

"mm."

her eyes shut briefly, the woman having completely forgotten she had invited someone of importance to arrive within the next hour.

a look of concern creased her own freckled features as she observed the conflicted emotions that crossed the youth's face, followed by him veering the subject entirely elsewhere. cait went along with it after a moment, her smile tentative as she turned her attention toward the kitchen.

"i could use some help with gathering a few fresh ingredients while i prep everything else," she said.

cait pointed toward the backdoor that was connected to the kitchen.

"i have a small garden in the back. can you grab several onions, carrots and potatoes each?"

despite the small seed of worry that had begun to develop, she moved to pull out the appropriate tools needed to prep their meal.

"i usually have a few pokemon oversee the garden so that no one except senon and i take anything from it. if they cause you any trouble just tell them i sent you. there's a basket on the counter you can take to carry everything."

she absently pointed toward the woven object.

"and if you have trouble identifying the plants they should be able to point out what you need."

once he was outside, he'd quickly pinpoint the garden's location; as well as the slumbering houndoom and houndour who oversaw it.

his answer wasn't immediate, the man tucking into not one - but two of the sandwiches. cait peered at him with an expression that had turned slightly blank, the young woman blinking slowly in response to the odd reaction to her inquiry.

"you're going to choke if you aren't careful," she warned.

the avatar shook her head in a small show of exasperation, adjusting her hold slightly on primrose. once the initial feeding period was over, she intended to settle them down for a nap. there was already a temporary crib set up at their bedside which would effectively accommodate the tiny duo. and in a few months - the twins would transition to the nursery proper.

"senon."

cait raised her hand and snapped her fingers before his face, encouraging eye contact.

"your parents, baby? do they know?"
