in the aftermath of their failure, cait experiences a twinge of worry as well as an undercurrent of frustration.

'did i mess up here? maybe i - ...'

the utterance of 'shit' puts her somewhat at ease as her gaze shifts to one of the masked figures. her sylveon peers over its shoulder at her, their tendrils forming something that vaguely resembled a '?' as they tilted their head to the side in bemusement.

"you're fine, sylve," cait assured.

her hypno gave a little shrug before urging for a repeat performance. another command was issued - with some hope that this would allow them to pass this test.

cait stalled momentarily as she took in her surroundings, her eyes rounding slightly in alarm as she was immediately put on edge. something about this place reminded her of the horror films her husband-to-be was so terribly fond of. she wondered if such an adoration for them would rub off on their children.

'now that would be... unfortunate.'

she resisted the urge to nervously lick her lips as she listened to the voice.

'alright. we should be able to make it through this,' she determined. 'we've made it so far.'

the masked duo wielded a combination of heal block and tea time. which left her with the easiest job - bypassing the substitute. cait thought for a moment and then gave a little nod.

"simple enough."

she introduced her sylveon to the field.

"disarming voice!"

the food melted in her mouth with each bite, the offering having been eagerly accepted by the woman. a few crumbs gathered at the corners of her mouth, but they'd be sweetly wiped away by her fiancée shortly after they gathered. the bread was fresh and the ingredients originated from her personal garden and the unfertilized eggs that their pokemon produced in abundance.

anything that wasn't sold in the local market was stored and ended up being served. ultimately, it all accumulated to a meal that was delectable.

"i'm sure their grandparents won't expect these two," she remarked.

she paused after consuming two sandwiches, appearing satisfied as she focused on cradling enca. the babe had eaten their fill after roughly twenty minutes of feeding, those little eyes opening and blinking blearily and uncomprehendingly at their surroundings. cait began the process of burping the infant, her movements well-practiced. eventually the little sound came forth, causing her mother to smile at the success.

"mine will arrive tomorrow. it's basically just another tradition on why they delay. it's meant to help with the bonding process."

she paused briefly, appearing to mull over her future plans at length.

"i think i'll wait a week or two before sharing them with the world. until then they're all mine."

the new mother surrendered enca, gingerly accepting primrose so she could feed next. the girl had a difficult time latching on at first - not as efficient as her sister, it seemed - but eventually she succeeded.

"how about your parents? any word from them?"

hypno ♂: insomnia - nasty plot, hypnosis, psychic, head butt, disable, barrier

she had to rely upon her persian to effectively bypass that spikey shield. of course, prior to committing to a move; the pokemon insisted on receiving some form of affection. the large furred body pressed against her, leaning lightly against the petite woman.

"oh. of course, mama cat."

cait cooed lovingly at the big-headed pokemon, a great rumbling purr escaping the feline.

the dark-type took her rightful place before her owner, eyeing what appeared to be a fat rodent. her tongue flicked out, sliding across furry lips.

"feint!"

persian's eyes gleamed, the creature pinpointing a open spot before she lunged forward; committing to a series of movements meant to 'fake out' the steel-type. her paw struck out, successfully avoiding the shield in its entirety.

the woman tapped her chin, mulling over her own arsenal as the masked men used two rounds of knock off. she wasn't entirely sure if she had a pokemon capable of utilizing a move that could work - but she pondered over if a viable solution was still even within her reach.

- mistress? -

cait blinked and met her hypno's gaze. the pokemon planted an idea in her head, depositing the image of a certain ghost-type.

"ah."

the woman's eyes rounded before she reached for her belt and summoned a peculiar pokemon.

the woman accepted the offering with a mild show of bemusement, her eyebrows arched and a slightly bewildered frown tugging at the corners of her lips.

"thanks?"

the item felt slightly warm to the touch as it was gently pressed into her palm for safekeeping; as though it had been briefly kissed with sunshine. the item was quickly pocketed, her hands settling upon the curves of her hips as the man addressed the other customed wonder.

"...?"

cait's gaze flitted between the two.

"is this some kind of rough superhero roleplay?"

she raised her hands in a sort of mock surrender - waving them a little as she continued. the woman just barely succeeded at keeping her expression semi-serious.

"not that i'm judging, of course. nothing wrong with a little story before the action starts - you know?"

"oh?"

she beckoned him to close the distance, encouraging the man to join her in their shared bed. he helped with rearranging the pillows slightly, allowing for her to better support both of the babes. feeding twins was a more complicated affair - and she intended to go about it more effectively in the near future.

breastfeeding was to be done in the traditional way on occasion. her milk would otherwise be bottled, stored and fed to them that way. senon was concerned that she'd suffer through some discomfort if she relied heavily on the aforementioned method, after all.

'areola abusers,' she thought, recalling his exact words with a little snort.

cait peeled open her robe after taking in enca's freckles with curious eyes, adopting a comfortable and lax position as she encouraged the pair to enjoy their meal. the woman winced a little as both latched on, but quickly adapted to the sensation as they continued to eat.

"can you grab me a snack, baby? and maybe something sweet to drink?"

she hadn't really eaten anything and had only taken sips of water previously. but now that she was only tender - and no longer in terrible pain - she wanted something to settle her loudly grumbling stomach.

"gods," she breathed, squinting a little at enca. "baby girl, you do look just like your daddy."

which meant she'd likely be a little hellion if she inherited his temperament as well.

she struggled not to laugh, barely stifling her giggles for the sake of the little ones. there was no doubt that they'd fuss again if she dared to, the pair having only just began to settle down.

"well..."

the smile she wore was bright and overwhelmingly pleased, cait happily taking in the sight of senon holding his daughters.

"... this mama wants her turn holdin' 'em."

cait extended her arms.

"let me see lil' miss primrose first."

once the child was handed over, she inspected her closely. the twins were not what she had suspected - both appearing to take heavily after only one parent. primrose had inherited her darker skin tone, her ethnic features and -

"ah..."

a small smile formed as the babe's eyes peeked open, allow cait to glimpse a light shade of green. she leaned down and pressed a soft kiss onto that plump cheek, relishing the moment of discovery.

"they're perfect," she murmured, softly.

the mother raised her gaze to senon.

"have they eaten yet?"

her gaze caught upon the portrait of moltres. a tiny gasp escaped as she gazed upon its magnificence, memories of stormy surging upwards in a dizzying flurry of vivid imagery.

'it wasn't so long ago that i witnessed you dive into the depths of a volcano. you were so brave.'

cait bowed her head, uttering a quiet prayer to moltres. she thanked the creature for allying themselves with stormy - for blessing the woman with its great power - even if it was only for a brief period of time.

'stormy...'

her eyes stung briefly, but she sucked in a steadying breath and turned toward the stranger, focusing upon challenge placed before them.

the psychic-type reluctantly surrendered the babe, discreetly signaling to her peers that their mistress had successfully delivered two little females. the bond she shared with a multitude of creatures began to vibrate immediately afterwards, excitement quickly spreading throughout their land.

"hyp," she murmured, her deep voice surprisingly soft.

the pokemon shifted the blankets upon the bed with her large hands, gingerly tucking the green-haired woman in.

"they'll need to eat in a few hours," cait mumbled. "bottles in the... fridge. hafta warm 'em up..."

immediately after uttering this, she fell asleep - her soft snores reaching both hypno and senon's ears.

- i'll prepare their meals when it is time, master. if you've need of rest, the gardevoir in your mate's employ will care for the children. you need only call upon them. -

the hypno's words flowed gently into the man's mind, before she took her leave to ensure the news about the twin's birth had made its rounds.

cait awoke several hours later, the sound of a babe's cry stirring her awake. her instincts surged, quickly causing her to enter a state of wakefulness.

"mwuh?"

she sat up quickly, her curls in a bit of a mess and dried drool at the corner of her mouth. the woman felt surprisingly well and even energetic despite having just given birth - unaware that celebi had visited - administering a thorough healing after briefly investigating the twins beneath senon's watchful gaze.

the legendary was absent now, having left with a pleased gleam in its eye.

"senon?"

the two quickly puzzled out how to strike down the airborne aerodactyl - while cait was forced to mull over her options for a moment longer.

"oh!"

a metaphorical light bulb lit a top her skull, the woman reaching for her waist and selecting a capsule containing a grass-type. the bouncy creature stored within floated before her, their head craned upwards to peer at their target.

"hurricane."

a controlled burst of air was promptly launched at the ancient creature, the dual-type's aim precise.

the next inscription wasn't as simple as the last. the clues were comparatively minimal, not directly betraying the the gods each passage sought to represent.

"this ones a bit vague," she remarked. "the gods typically come in trios. such as moltres, articuno and zapdos. or entei, suicune and raikou. the final two lines offer a hint - but just barely. the word 'wish' makes me think of jirachi - unfortunately their fate isn't heavily intertwined with their brethren..."

cait filed away the passage within her mind, intent on deciphering its meaning.

she was genuinely taken aback by the rare show of absolute vulnerability, senon's eyes presently awash with fresh tears that heavily blurred his vision. his face was twisted with emotion, his infant lightly squirming in his hold as salty liquid splattered upon her plump and round face. a tiny and barely perceptible whimper escaped the enca's lips, but she soon quieted - appearing to quickly settle into a light doze.

"oh, baby," she breathed. "it's okay."

cait gently caressed the man's face, seeking to wipe away his tears with her fingers. she wished she could pull him into her arms, but the woman lacked the energy to effectively comfort her fiancé. the process of giving birth and feeding the twins had left her utterly drained - her personal reserves depleted.

"the doctor mentioned they were a little underweight. and they came earlier than we had expected. but they're perfectly healthy."

her gaze shifted to primrose, who slumbered within hypno's solid arms. the pokemon appeared to be in mild awe at the little creature, handling her with the utmost care.

"we've been blessed with two little girls. enca and primrose game."

there was pride in her voice, the woman proud of what she had created with her mate. cait adjusted her gown, covering her chest and settling down properly; sinking heavily into her pillows as her breathing slowed a little.

"..."

her eyes slowly fell shut.

'i just...need to rest my eyes for a little while.'

"mmm."

cait schooled her features with the ease of a well-tried politician, appearing unperturbed on the surface level by the mention of the silph. the only thing that betrayed her underlying emotion was the sharp toss of the berry to her hypno, the woman discreetly communicating her intentions.

"hypno," the pokemon chimed.

with the held item in his grasp, the pokemon stepped forth - enduring the infectious flames that sought to linger upon his thinly-furred flesh.

"'the world's far end would they greet.'"

once they were allowed to peaceably read the message, her brow would lift high.

"time. space. pane. disorder," she murmured.

cait's eyes shut for a moment as she tilted her head back and then cocked it to the side.

"dialga. palkia. arceus."

she paused briefly, her tone shifting from reverence to one of mild disgust.

"giratina."

the woman contemplated the riddle, comparing it to the scripture she had poured over in recent memory. her words were mere speculation but she felt somewhat confident in the guess.

"dialga and palkia play a more active role in our collective history. while arceus is the key to maintaining it whilst ensuring that giritina had remained imprisoned within a realm of chaos. i'm going to guess it's referring to the gods of time and space, respectfully."

there was indubitably an established hierarchy among their lot. one that caused hypno to shift uncomfortably beneath the disguised male's gaze. the pokemon appeared visibly uncertain, but relaxed slightly within the familiar human's presence. so cait found no real resistance when she lightly shoved him aside, scowling fiercely at crimsen despite his superior height and bulk.

"i highly doubt 'my little monsters' are any of your business," she drawled.

she surmised that word had traveled fast of the twin's arrival. yet it surprised her somewhat that whoever this was had familiarized himself with the news. it was rather... mundane, wasn't it?

'in comparison to what usually happens in hoenn...? it most certainly is.'

"and who are ya'll suppose to be? pokkenger wannabes?"

as crimsen signed his name and boldly established their chosen title, cait could only blink owlishly before realizing that whoever this was was going to be her teammate.

'seriously?'

as the glass was in the process of being cleaned up by the staff, she gave the mess a wide berth whilst claiming another pastry for herself - deciding that fighting against the inevitable wasn't worth the effort. her hypno joined her, casting glances in crimsen's direction all the while.

her husband-to-be was visibly tense - had been tense for the duration of the birthing process even hours in. she wondered if it was frayed nerves or an underlying fear of something going wrong. but even after the fact he had failed to relax, cait observing him as she tentatively surrendered primrose to hypno's arms - giving the pokemon the opportunity to hold the child.

"here."

they had only just finished suckling, the pair having relaxed fully in the aftermath of being fed. happily plump and beginning to slumber, enca was carefully handed off to her father.

"she's definitely yours," cait teased.

once the babe was in his arms, her mother peeled off the cream-colored cap - revealing the head full of red hair. cait admired the color briefly, before seeking out her fiancée's gaze.

"you okay?"

she touched his arm, making soothing circles upon the flesh there.
