EXPOSITION

WELCOME TO AFTERNOON TEA

WELCOME TO THE FLEUR TEA ATELIER a sophisticated tea house of many stories. Although the lower floors feature spaces for enjoying specialty teas and fanciful pastries, the upper floors are dedicated to battling. After all, being this close to Hoenn's Pokemon League means you are within a diverse community of formidable trainers.[break][break]

After some time conversing and enjoying the service, the maître d'hôtel arrives in a smart suit. A Mr. Mime wheels in a fanciful room service trolley beside him. On top of the trolley, is a large cloche. "you are all signed up for the tiered tea room challenge, yes? what is your team's name?" [break][break]

He pulls out a notepad and pen, expecting an answer. Afterward, he asks his Mr. Mime to reveal the contents underneath the cloche. Several items for your Pokemon to equip are revealed.

After selections are made (or not made), he directs you all to wooden staircase. "bon courage! may you all get on like a house on fire!" He offers a hint with a smile.[break]

This is why vigilantes did their thing at night; witnesses and meddlers.

Only the stupid and the skilled bothered moving around in the day and now, because he'd been approached, the day was telling him which category he fit in.

The pot was looking for something to call black if Crimsen was pressed about meddlers. But, in this way at least he wasn't concerned about being a hypocrite. "If you wanted to get close to me..." The voice modulator hid his identity, not the amount of effort he was having to put in to keep this guy at bay.

"You should have brought chocolate!" He pushed on the stranger, grabbing at the waist of their pants he lifted with all his might.

There was a glass window pane just behind him and he was going to throw this bastard right through it.

Getting into an altercation with Crimsen wasn't exactly his plan. But then, any 'sane' attempts to reach out to the vigilante had come up short, or could potentially be intercepted by the wrong people. So in his desperation to reach out to the other vigilante, The Phantom did something he would never normally do.

And this struggle was a reminder of why he never did this sort of thing normally. At the very least, he'd give credit to Crimsen for his skill.

"I just wanted to talk!", the man in the white mask told him, his own voice modulator only masking his voice. As he grabbed at him, The Phantom locked himself in a grapple with the other man. And seeing as escape wasn't exactly an option, especially since Crimsen attempted to throw him into a pane of glass, The Phantom pivoted his weight at the right moment, keeping a solid grip on his opponent, in order to take him with him through the pane of glass.

it was due to hypno's efforts that the woman avoided injury, the human-sized creature angling his body to prevent any stay glass shards from harming his mistress. his solid arms remained around her, his pin-prink gaze fixed on the scene taking place just over his shoulder.

"what is - "

cait sputtered, having nearly choked on her pastry before swallowing it down. she freed herself from her psychic-type's grip moments later, muttering a thanks while she investigated what appeared to be a pile of men who wore the oddest attire.

"what in the world is going on?"

she had only just selected her item of choice -

That's what happened when you tried to power play, you got finessed. The proper leverage could always turn the greatest strength back on itself.

So Crimsen went through the grass too, quite begrudgingly.

Granted, this wasn't the first time he'd been thrown through a glass pane. It wasn't even the first time he'd thrown himself through a glass pane.

He landed, rolled and rose swiftly enough. The pain in his back only fired him up. The other guy was up too. Great.

Clearly Crimsen was being the aggressor, but he didn't take office calls and he didn't do random approaches. That was his day job, and it might have been daytime but this wasn't his dayjob. It was was just the back-end of a double-shift.

At 196cm it was annoying this guy was equally tall. He was leaner too, but that meant Crimsen was stronger.

-or so he was willing to find out as he put his fists up.

"what in the world is going on?"

The sound muddled and quenched his red hot focus like a hot knife in a jar of honey. No one could hear it but his brain sizzled from the mental whiplash.

What the fuck. If Cait was here where were his hatchlings?

Pyroar Papa or Talonflame Father, either way he was no good to the girls if he dropped dead from snap-anxiety.

In the moments it took to breathe he remembered, it was GrandMonday; Enca was with his mother and Prim was with Cait's. He only just managed to keep from clutching at his heart. Back to business.

He approached Cait with his arms locked at the wrists and behind his back. A gesture that seemingly kept her psychic type from attacking him immediately.

He even leaned down a bit to bring their heads together. "OOOOOOh. A celebrity." He started off playful. "Check you out; Snapback Queen." If he wasn't in-character he might have reached for the fringes of her dress.

He dropped octaves soon enough. "Shouldn't you be somewhere, with your own little monsters?" He looked over to her hypno; it wasn't 'Hypno'. So it probably didn't recognize him, any attempt to read its mind for an identity would be met with rampant thoughts of how exposing its mistress' mate's secret was beyond its paygrade.

He dominated his own mental space with an absolute truth; Cait was hypno's leader and he was Cait's leader. Effectively, he was offering an elevation of respect in the family/pack hierarchy in exchange for the young one staying in its place and out of the human affairs of its trainer and her partner.

In the event it didn't probe for his identity he was effectively just reminding himself of how "in-charge" he was.

there was indubitably an established hierarchy among their lot. one that caused hypno to shift uncomfortably beneath the disguised male's gaze. the pokemon appeared visibly uncertain, but relaxed slightly within the familiar human's presence. so cait found no real resistance when she lightly shoved him aside, scowling fiercely at crimsen despite his superior height and bulk.

"i highly doubt 'my little monsters' are any of your business," she drawled.

she surmised that word had traveled fast of the twin's arrival. yet it surprised her somewhat that whoever this was had familiarized himself with the news. it was rather... mundane, wasn't it?

'in comparison to what usually happens in hoenn...? it most certainly is.'

"and who are ya'll suppose to be? pokkenger wannabes?"

as crimsen signed his name and boldly established their chosen title, cait could only blink owlishly before realizing that whoever this was was going to be her teammate.

'seriously?'

as the glass was in the process of being cleaned up by the staff, she gave the mess a wide berth whilst claiming another pastry for herself - deciding that fighting against the inevitable wasn't worth the effort. her hypno joined her, casting glances in crimsen's direction all the while.

When the man in the suit approached the vigilante saw his way out. Whatever this was, he could beat it or win it; a gamble worth taking. Especially with Cait at his back.

She jabbed at him with a diss by mentioning the Pokkenger the most famous and as far as Crimsen knew, the original, vigilante of Hoenn.

Without missing a beat in the natural rhythm he had with Cait, he responded appropriately. "Who?"

Waving over a person with a clipboard he 'signed' up, reinforcing the strokes on his his written name until it satisfied his vigilante sense of flair.

It was simple; join a team with Cait for whatever this was; he could co-op annoy and protect her all at the same time.

In doing this, he could also get the other guy to fuck off. Lest he be a third wheel. Two birds, one stone.
Taking the () Heavy Duty Boots he turned to face their host still waiting for a name. "I've got the name." He turned back to face the Phantom whose name he didn't yet know. "Coprophobia, as in; stay out of my shit." It wasn't a threat but, he'd already tried to put the man through a window for saying "Hi.".

The masked man fought through the pain, also getting to his feet. He would stare down his opponent momentarily, getting ready to defend himself. Although the other man had more mass on him, The Phantom's strikes were still no less dangerous.

But before they could continue their fight, a familiar face interrupted them. The presence of Cait was enough to get the other man to stand down. In turn, the Phantom backed off, allowing Crimsen to talk to her.

Pokkenger wannabes? That would be more fitting to Crimsen than The Phantom. If she knew who The Phantom was, and what he did, she might be incentivized to stop him then and there.

Rather than fucking off, the man in black and white signed up as The Phantom. If he had to play third wheel to earn the man's trust, so be it. He would do whatever it took to turn this shitshow around.

"Classy.", remarked the grim vigilante, as he made his selection, the Mental Herb. While it wasn't applicable for this immediate challenge, he had the feeling that it would come into play later.

The Kindler wipes his brow. Quickly, his Magby scuttles through his legs and faces the challengers ahead. "ah! so it's time. although moltres and her avatar may have disappeared, her flame burns strong within the kindler clan." He nods to the small Magby as it opens its rounded beak. "avoid being BURNED by chimney's fires!"[break][break]

The Magby leaps and fires a WILL-O-WISP at every single Pokémon you've summoned.[break][break]

In the middle of the room's flooring, an inscription is written:[break]

The () Heavy Duty Boots wouldn't do much good against a WILL-O-WISP. His slight-of-hand made it seem as though the pokéball he threw came out of nowhere.

As the Head Ranger or the Vigilante, Sénon Game always kept one in the chamber. If it wasn't the ditto, gyarados, riolu, croagunk, or alakazam it was probably a fire-type.

With a precise kick, the galarian pokémon dispelled the incoming fire attack, crossing its arms in the aftermath of its success.

Briefly taking his eyes off the magby Crimsen's eyes from behind his helmet shot to side-eye Cait at the mention of Stormy.

Coming to the center of the flooring he read the inscription and once again felt his obsession with space-god being pulled at.

With his phone (in a different case than the one Cait knew her partner to use) he took a picture of the word-puzzle.

Before setting out, The Phantom would quietly go into his PC. Taking the hint from earlier, he would send for Rufus the Arcanine to join him. If the threat was related to Fire, then having something that could absorb Fire would be for the best.

Upon reaching the first challenge, the Kindler that greeted them would get his attention. His mentioning of Moltres and Stormy made him frown under his mask. He wondered what came of Stormy, and if she was okay.

In any case, the flurry of Will-O-Wisps showed that he made the right call. Thomas would send out Rufus the Arcanine. Thanks to his Fire-typing, the Arcanine absorbed the Will-O-Wisp with no repercussions on his end.

Like Crimsen, The Phantom would study the inscription, even taking a picture of it for the future.

cait schooled her features with the ease of a well-tried politician, appearing unperturbed on the surface level by the mention of the silph. the only thing that betrayed her underlying emotion was the sharp toss of the berry to her hypno, the woman discreetly communicating her intentions.

"hypno," the pokemon chimed.

with the held item in his grasp, the pokemon stepped forth - enduring the infectious flames that sought to linger upon his thinly-furred flesh.

"'the world's far end would they greet.'"

once they were allowed to peaceably read the message, her brow would lift high.

"time. space. pane. disorder," she murmured.

cait's eyes shut for a moment as she tilted her head back and then cocked it to the side.

"dialga. palkia. arceus."

she paused briefly, her tone shifting from reverence to one of mild disgust.

"giratina."

the woman contemplated the riddle, comparing it to the scripture she had poured over in recent memory. her words were mere speculation but she felt somewhat confident in the guess.

"dialga and palkia play a more active role in our collective history. while arceus is the key to maintaining it whilst ensuring that giritina had remained imprisoned within a realm of chaos. i'm going to guess it's referring to the gods of time and space, respectfully."

- cait utilizes her held item [ rawst berry ] on hypno to ensure he does not suffer from a burn.

He waves to the team, the extended arm revealing the synthetic patagium. "a long time ago, during the primal age, rayquaza had to calm the titans of the sea and land! the two wanted nothing but to keep all the natural energy of this region for themselves. i wouldn't be surprised if rayquaza felt the same way too." The Sky Trainer beckons for his Aerodactyl and with a caw, it flaps its leathery wings. It soars toward the ceiling and waits in mid-air. "can you land a hit on my aerodactyl? it's pretty high up thanks to FLY!"[break][break]

He was right about Palkia and Dialga. Even the Giratina references made sense. It was the Arceus stuff that went over his head.

Something about looking through a pane.
