she licked at the remnants of grease that had gathered at her fingertips.

"naming the boys will be your responsibility."

if the twins were girls, she had every intention to wring the man dry until he gave her what she wanted. but despite boys being her endgame, cait would leave the responsibility of naming them to her mate. she was perfectly content in taking care of them; eager to nurture them into healthy, well-rounded adults.

'three or four,' she decided, mulling over an appropriate amount of little ones.

they possessed the resources to take care of numerous children. and it was likely they'd have a comfortable life and solid opportunities aplenty.

"and i just like the name," she stated, plainly. "but - "

cait scrounged up a memory from her past.

"when i was younger i wrote a few short stories. the protagonist was a little girl like me - and i called her primrose. i wasn't allowed to become a pokemon trainer at the usual age; so i fantasized about it through her."

she visibly sobered a little.

"i don't think i could manage having my own children leaving at - what - ten? thirteen? it's... too soon."

she envisioned a sizeable chunk of those occupying hoenn re-settling once rocket had been thoroughly purged. there was likely a decent amount of money to be made plenty of land that had become available. the economy was also likely to be in an unpredictable state once the government wrested back control of the troubled region.

"you must miss home."

cait popped a piece of sliced bread into her mouth, relishing the sweet taste of jam and chasing it down with a sip of water.

"then again... i can't imagine people like fernando or stormy returning home after - well - everything."

she is silent for roughly several beats, her expression betraying her musings. from her perspective he was the one who should be thanked. he had been willing to give her everything she could possibly want. and there was no denying that he was a gift sent by arceus themselves; the godly being rewarding the woman with a loving companion and children.

"i..."

cait opened and closed her mouth, uncertain of how to respond. her eyes stung a little, but she quickly calmed as a smile tugged at the corners of her lips. she appeared pleased by his show of gratitude, a hint of bashfulness resulting in her silence.

'you're everything to me.'

a comfortable and quiet peace settled following his words as they traveled down a cobbled path, enjoying their nearness and the serenity of the moment.

cait barely stifled a chuckle.

"you can be," she confirmed.

she looks at him and her memories of the past few months shuffle themselves to the very forefront. the couple was still going strong following her abrupt announcement of her pregnancy. the bond they had forged having intensified by a sizeable margin as their blood combined to form a healthy pair of twins.

images of him finishing the nursery, making sure the pieces of furniture were properly assembled and placed, joining her at every doctor's appointment and ensuring she kept up with her pre-natal care came to mind. and despite the swell of her belly, their physical intimacy had remained as it had been before; remarkably intense.

"thank me for what, my lord?"

the brilliant greens of her eyes gleamed in the darkness - her orbs not entirely dissimilar to dark emeralds.

her mare accepted her mistress's slight weight with ease. despite her minimal gains from her pregnancy, the change was barely noted. cait settled into her position with a hint of awkwardness, her coordination suffering as she neared her due date.

'it won't be long now,' she thought.

cait winced as she felt the increasingly familiar sensation of a kick - followed by another.

"your heirs are... restless," she complained, shaking her head as she played the part of a noble lady. "keeping me awake at all hours of the night. they're no different from their sire."

their mounts began at a slow space, the ride made to be a comfortable one as cait followed senon's lead.

she could only pray that stormy would come to her senses and decide to - at least partially - settle here. the path which led her to men like fernando lacked what she probably needed. the woman desired and required love and she'd find it here if she wanted to.

"if you don't mind me asking you a favor," cait began, her tone suddenly tentative. "do you mind staying here for a spell after the twins are born? i - "

the woman paused briefly, a hint of a grimace forming.

"i could really use the support. and i won't be at my best afterwards. i'll need some help during the first few days."

"no," she responded. "i've only ever been to johto. senon wanted to have us move our family to goldenrod. i guess he wanted to raise a family without rocket looming over us all."

she shook her head but a small smile played on her lips.

"but i do want to travel a little to visit the religious sights of the world. temples, churches, and any other location that carries ceremonial value."

cait paused, furrowing her brow lightly as she eyed the man across from her. hypno had seated herself and tucked into the meal, favoring the fresh asparagus and roasted farfetch'd. the pokemon had impeccable manners, wielding the utensils without issue and silently consuming a portion of the meal as the humans spoke.

"how was it in kanto?"

there was also the added layer of if they were a pair of girls, boys or one of each gender.

cait paused momentarily, taking in matias and mentally comparing him to the likes of FERNANDO SILPH and Stormy Silph . after all, depending on the legitimacy of his surname, he was likely familiar with her beloved silphs.

"you're stormy's brother," she commented. "i'm surprised i haven't met you after all these years."

hypno reentered, hovering three perfectly polished apples with green skin. she relinquished her psychic grasp when they were placed before the legendary.

"i hope you don't mind granny smiths, my lady. i mostly bake with apples nowadays - and they're the best for it."

'are there any apples in the storage, hypno?'

her hypno appeared to mull over the question, likely searching her memory for the answer.

- a few of the fruits that were almost ready were killed off due to the snow... -

cait struggled to keep a grimace from her face, reminded of the poor weather and her plants that had suffered for it. nearly half of her harvest had been utterly ruined in the bitter cold, frost and snow; killing off her creations in the span of a few days. she'd recover easily enough - but it delayed production of her personal goods by several months or longer.

- but we've purchased a bag from the market a few days ago. -

her mood immediately lifted.

"can you grab several apples for the lady, hypno?"

her pokemon nodded and left the dining area, slipping out of sight. it was the presence of the magical leaf that next drew cait's gaze, the woman detecting the power which oozed in gentle waves from the manipulated plant matter.

"well you're welcome to enjoy what you can. until hypno returns with the fruit might i recommend the bread with some of my homemade jam? and there's also the salad."

she was suddenly reminded of the fact that they hadn't been intimate for a period of time. distance had prevented them from doing so, the complication temporarily alleviated by call, text and images that were exchanged. cait was satisfied by the attention but also slightly worried - wondering if his interest would remain steadfast as her proportions shifted.

this single invasion thought caused a slight frown to tug at the corners of her lips. it was a silly worry but still -

"so where will we be staying?"

she shifted the topic, placing her newly earned pokemon into her purse. once she was near an appropriate device, she'd ensure they'd be returned to her home and allowed to free roam.

"i want to see it," she said, reaching for his hand.

"we'll be having twins. and we don't know just yet. we wanted it to be a surprise. i'm hoping for two boys," she said. "but we've painted the nursery a neutral color to accommodate either."

with the pair being due in march, it wouldn't be long before they had their hands full. she was excited as well as nervous to tackle the role of mother. but it didn't help that hoenn was still in a chaotic state, meaning her growing family and her tribe were at risk.

"over here. the meal's ready."

her hypno had set down the plates, three seats and one comfortably large cushion for the grass-type legendary prepared for them. the spread was generous and fresh, the plates empty but ready to be filled with their food of choice.

"you're not strictly vegetarian, i hope?"

the question was directed at both.

she happily accepted the brownies, though her smile lessened slightly at the mention of Eva Morales . a small surge of guilt came about, the woman recalling the golden-haired female's plea that she had stubbornly refused to heed.

"thank you," she said. "it's good to see you and the lady virizion as well."

cait struggled not to stare, instead politely dipping her head toward the goddess. despite her calm exterior her heart was absolutely aflutter, an excitement broiling beneath the surface.

"i hope your trip was pleasant. how is miss morales, by the way?"

'are they a pair? probably,' she concluded.

the pregnant woman led them inside, the furniture's original positions slightly shifted to ensure the legendary had an ample amount of room to navigate the confined space.

"i do apologize if you smell paint. sénon just finished painting the nursery and its still drying."

her brief encounter with lady virizon and the blade mistress's chosen had replayed itself within her mind as of late. the memory was so persistent that she had extended a tentative invitation to matias silph, relying upon her close bond with FERNANDO SILPH to acquire his contact information. her request had come in the form of a letter, handwritten and stamped with her tribe's seal.

it requested that he arrive at his leisure to her cabin in the woods for a meal. she expressed her interest in his lady's presence as well, cait eager to once again be blessed by the presence of a goddess she had been raised to acknowledge - and to worship. and to her utmost delight - he had accepted her invitation - the tiredness that had struck her as of late lifting almost entirely in the wake of the good news.

she waddled to and fro, though she was soon made to halt her excessive activities as she persisted on thoroughly cleaning her home and tending to the cabin's exterior. her hypno intervened, the pokemon's usually stoic expression betraying her disapproval as she deployed her gardevoir to work in her stead.

"i'm not crippled," cait protested.

the woman observed her pokemon clean and even begin the prep work for her planned meal.

- rest for now. -

her shoulders sagged for a little in response to her hypno's instruction before she took a seat.

the next day the cabin was smelling absolutely divine. the surfaces were wiped down twice over - maple candles had been lit - and garlic butter farfetch'd and asparagus with freshly baked white bread, a salad and her family's sweet tea were on the cusp of being ready. she wore a simple power blue dress, the wardrobe meant to accommodate her large belly.

'it's been a while since i had guests,' she thought, mildly nervous.

if cait could manage it in her state, she'd personally escort him through her property - but she left the responsibility in the hands of one of her gardevoir. the pokemon would meet and escort him through the property - ensuring he wasn't disturbed by the free-roaming creatures that inhabited her acres.

following her engagement with sénon, he had aided in securing more land for their home to better accommodate the amount of pokemon they kept. which meant the paths were mildly confusing if you weren't familiar with the area nor where the cabin was precisely located.

"he'll be here soon. as will lady virizon," cait chimed, offering everything a cursory glance over.

both she and hypno made sure everything was just right in the final moments, the woman moving toward the door as she received a subtle signal that he'd soon arrive.

sénon had invested the effort to ensure that her rapidash was both present and was in possession of her reigns and saddle. typically the mare was utterly intolerant when anyone but herself handled her - yet cait's fiancée had become an exception within a year's time.

which meant her infuriatingly stubborn espeon remained the odd-one-out.

"i suppose," she murmured.

she reached out and ran her hand down her pokemon's muzzle, the equine responding favorably to her touch.

"can you help me up?"

cait would have no trouble if she wasn't in such a delicate state. but she was limited movement-wise as of late, her body's proportions having shifted as she entered her third trimester.

she couldn't deny that she was sorely tempted. as she polished off the remainder of her drink, she took in her immediate surroundings. there was longing present within her gaze, her feet kicking a little in air as she remained upon her too-tall seat.

"it's beautiful here," she admitted. "and it probably has everything i could possibly want. but it's not - "

cait considered the appropriate words as she trailed off. the woman didn't doubt for a moment she'd grow sick with longing if she lingered here. while this was idealistic in regards to vacationing spots - it was hardly a suitable place to raise brand new members of her tribe.

"no," she said, simply. "i'm staying in fortree. we'll be fine. we'll figure it out."

she claimed the hefty cup containing her coins, quietly making her way to the prize center. a primly dressed man awaited her, gesturing toward the prizes listed.

"i'd like to do three rounds of gacha."

he accepted her coins, leaving only a meager handful in her possession before approaching a machine and pressing the button three times. three pokeballs spilled out - each labeled with the random pokemon contained within.

"luxio," he read, surrendering each. "golduck and a gallade. congratulations, ma'am."
