Thomas watched with satisfaction as the demonic spirits were flung into the gates, where only hell awaited them.

Thomas smiled as the children raced towards their family, finally reuniting in heaven. As Thomas peered within, he saw a familiar figure.

Shadow, his long lost Poochyena.

Thomas' mouth fell agape, the man slowly stepped towards the gates. "Shadow, buddy.", Thomas uttered. Thomas' hand stretched out to meet in the middle with the canine, his steps practically an unconscious motion.

In that moment, Thomas only wanted to reunite with the Poochyena. Wanted to hug him one more time. The Poochyena wanted the same thing, to feel his master's loving embrace again.

The Urshifu and Marshadow quickly stepped in to stop him, snapping him back from his temptation to cross into the Afterlife.

As greatly as it pained him, he still had his duties in the world of the living. He still had Pokemon that needed him.

"Shadow, I'll reunite with you, I promise!", Thomas called out. As the gates closed, the Poochyena whimpered, standing on his hind legs, paws pressed against the gates.

"Let's go.", Thomas uttered, sorrow in his voice.

Thomas rolled his eyes at the threat delivered by the CEO.

"Your brother isn't mad at you. If anything, he just wants to see you again.", he assured the girl softly.

"For the kids? Probably paradise. For guys like us? Eternal torment.", Thomas remarked, half-jokingly.

Thomas took a look around, taking notice to how many ghosts were waiting for passage to the afterlife. So this was the effect of all the wars and tragedy that afflicted the world? He had to wonder if Yveltal was satisfied with this, or alarmed.

Thomas watched the reunion between the two siblings. He was glad Kevin made it out. Though he had questions about the grandfather. Did he make it, or was he left wandering the Border somewhere?

His musing is broken by the arrival of a malevolent spirit with a Rocket insignia on its chest, accompanied by the demonic ghost of an Electrode.

"Stand back, I got this!", Thomas told the group, before sending out his Urshifu.

"Time to send you to hell!", Thomas bellowed towards the spirit, before pulling out his pocket watch, opening it to reveal a Keystone within. Upon pressing it, the Mega Stone on the Urshifu reacted, encasing him in an orb of light, before he emerged, his fur white, with red outlines.

"Begone, foul spirit!", Thomas bellowed, gesturing his Urshifu to strike down the spirit.

The Urshifu got into a stance, lining himself up, before lunging at the spirits, striking them with a powerful shout. The G-Max One Blow sent the duo hurdling through the gates, and into the hell that they deserved.

"Sometimes, pain and injury are unavoidable. And if he's willing to inflict this upon himself to fight for you, then that's ultimately his wish. I know it's hard, seeing your friend hurt himself, but all you can do is support him in that endeavor as best you can.", Thomas told the teenager.

"Yeah, the Audinos frequently find themselves having to heal people and Pokemon. Whether it's after a disaster has befallen the Region, or just a person or Pokemon needing quick medical treatment, they're always there for them, ready to care for them.", Thomas answered.

"They're all truly wonderful. I'm blessed to have befriended so many of them.", he remarked, a soft smile on his features.

"Thank you. And feel free to visit whenever you'd like. Whether you or your Pokemon need treatment, or you just want to visit and play with the little ones. I know they'd be happy to see you again."

He looked down to see how the girl, and the Marshadow were holding hands. If not for how grim the situation was, Thomas would've commented on how adorable the two were.

"The gates aren't far from here.", he told the ghost, before heading off in the direction of the gates to the afterlife, going slow enough to allow the duo to keep up.

Thomas' Marshadow looked at the pair, and felt a bit jealous. Thomas, who picked up on this, chuckled. "Want me to carry you, little guy?", Thomas offered the Marshadow.

The Marshadow found themselves surprised by the offer, but lifted their arms up, allowing Thomas to pick them up, and cradle them in his arms.

Following his meeting with ollie morales , and the revelation that Councilwoman PENELOPE LIVY was among the missing persons, Thomas raced to the League offices. If Penelope got taken by whatever was responsible, then who knows what other important figures were also unaccounted for.

With all of the self-control he could muster, Thomas walked into the lobby, rather than burst through the doors. Thomas' pace was brisk, but not frantic, despite his grave and almost panicked expression.

"Is Commissioner Goode in? I need to speak with her, it's an emergency.", Thomas told the receptionist.

Thomas chuckled lightly. "It all depends on how you live your life. If I remember right, you certainly didn't enjoy running it. But even when you've grown up, there's still plenty of adventures to pursue. As long as you find something you enjoy doing with life, and don't lose your sense of adventure, adulthood isn't so bad.", Thomas assured Vanilla.

There were many ways to describe Thomas' life, even as an adult. Boring wasn't one of them. Even running his Ranch wasn't boring, given how much he was able to expand it, and how much he loved living with all the Pokemon living within it.

"I sent a message to Head Ranger Morales earlier. I'm still waiting to hear back from him.", Thomas told Vanilla.

He could only hope that ollie morales was okay. Same with Eva Morales.

Thomas listened to what Proxii had to say on the matter. Several more people went missing. "You think it was Rocket?", Thomas wondered. "Or you think it had something to do with the Toxic Chains?"

The Toxic Chains referring both to the Night of the Blood Moon, and the previous month's encounters with Toxic Chained Pokemon wreaking havoc across the Region.

"I know I won't just sit around. I'm gonna look into whatever leads I can find.", he told Vanilla.

Unfortunately for Thomas and Ermac, the fact that everyone else chose to boost made their attempt virtually moot. Leilani Kalawai'a, kyle lopez, and CIAN MAHER all managed to pass him. Though Raju Mystic fell behind. And Thomas was now on Josh Devlin's tail.

Despite this, Thomas was not about to give this up. Coming off of their boost, the duo readied themselves for the next obstacle. As they were directed beneath the surface, Thomas held his breath. Ermac's focus was on avoiding creating a bottleneck with a fellow racer, and potentially drowning his master.

If they were to make it to the surface, the duo found themselves being launched into the air. Thomas held onto the ghostly fish, the duo attempting to position themselves to stick the landing, then deal with what came afterward.

Upon emerging from the body of his partner, Thomas floated up. The ghost of the Kalosian aimed himself towards his body, before diving back down into it.

Thomas coughed in pain, clutching his gut. Even though Ralph pulled his punch, the Rage Fist still hurt like absolute hell.

"If nothing else, it could lead us to finding out more about the Realm, and the secrets it hides. Secrets that could benefit someone like you. Besides, kid deserves to be in heaven with her family.", Thomas told the CEO.

Thomas staggered to his feet, seeing that the girl made her decision.

"Let's reunite her with her family, yeah?", Thomas told the Orrean.

"It's a long story, I'll tell you on the way out.", Thomas promised the man inhabiting his body.

"I believe your grandfather is waiting in heaven. I met your brother in another section of the Border. He sent me on your trail, actually.", Thomas told the ghost of the girl soothingly. "No, they're not mad at you. They just want you to see you again, safe and sound.", he attempted to comfort her.

Thomas' own Marshadow emerged from the shadow of his physical body, and began to greet the other Marshadow that the girl held onto. "I'll let you three get acquainted, I've got some quick business to attend to."

He then beckoned Mordred and Ralph to him and Ozni. "Ralph, Rage Fist on my body. Mordred, smack into this body with Phantom Force.", Thomas commanded the two.

The duo did as they were instructed. The Annihilape struck Thomas' body in the midsection with a spectral fist. Meanwhile, the Ceruledge bumped into Ozni's body with Phantom Force, expeling both vessels of their souls, and allowing them to dive back into their proper bodies.

Thomas offered Isaac a handshake. "I don't plan on giving up on fighting for this world, Isaac.", Thomas began. "I'll fight to the bitter end for that better tomorrow."

"Thank you, Isaac. I promise you, you won't regret this. We have a lot of work cut out for us. But it'll be worth it in the end."

He knew that he had a lot of work in earning any trust with Isaac, after what he did. But he was ready to do everything to earn Isaac's trust. To prove to him that they were truly in this fight together.

"An odd field to specialize in, but who am I to criticize? Besides, it has its uses.", Thomas replied.

"An Iron Crown and an Iron Boulder? Interesting.", Thomas remarked. "If you need help with them, you know where to find me. One of my underground biomes is an isolated chamber for such exotic Pokemon. I - built it for Yveltal, after being blessed by them. Now it just serves as a place to safely train such dangerous Pokemon.", he'd offer.

Thomas listened to what he had to say about the Raging Bolt. The fact that it dissolved into mist when attempting to leave the area was interesting, and concerning.

Thomas couldn't help but chuckle when he remarked about flying on Latios.

"So you encountered this Raikou in its 'Johtoian form'? And when you went back later, it reappeared as a 'Hoennian Raikou'?", Thomas inquired, raising an eyebrow. It was a strange story. His next remark, and how he seemed to be holding something back, wasn't missed on the Kalosian. Though if Josh was withholding information, he likely had a good reason to do so.

"A Successor? You think they're going for multiples?", Thomas inquired. It wouldn't surprise him, as he was one of Yveltal's two Avatars, for a time.

"Yeah, follow me.", Thomas told Josh, before heading to the large training grounds.

The fluffy Audino eagerly ate up the Wigglytuff's affection. Having any excuse to continue cuddling the Wigglytuff, and feel her fur against his was always welcomed.

Thomas couldn't help but smile as he saw the teenager's reaction to the horde's greeting. He was glad she enjoyed the presence of the cute Pokemon. And grateful to see the Primeape reciprocate their affection.

Thomas held the Stufful in his arms, hugging the sentient teddy bear of a Pokemon. Unlike most of her species, who hated being touched, this one seemed to eat up Thomas' affection. The Stufful wrapped her limbs around Thomas, nuzzling him eagerly, as his hand stroked the top of her head.

Another Minccino, who wore two bows on her head, greeted the group. She raced over to the Minccino in martial arts garb, greeting her fellow Minccino cheerfully.

"You're welcome to stop by anytime you're in town.", Thomas told the teenager.

"By the way, I noticed the way your Pokemon are garbed. You into martial arts?", he inquired.
