"Huh. Really didn't expect to see so many people with inflated egos."

Remi leans forward a bit to get a better look at the few who hadn't chosen to take focus bands. Her lips are pursed, but she raises a brow and seems amused and intrigued.

"I'll place my bet on the blue-haired kid. Pretty sure I saw him get manhandled by a giant Rillaboom. That's balls, I'll bet on his."

Remi pulls away to glance at THEO BECKETT and Lulu Flint, specifically. With her thumb, she gestures backward with a sly grin.

"Who've you got eyes on?"

"Oh... I think I could."

She seems amused by his teasing and his fishing, brushing hair out of her face with the back of one mitted hand. Her cheeks are rosy and her eyes twinkle with interest. Drunk Remi is certainly far more bold, but that is hardly necessary when it comes to him. He was different, someone worth giving her full attention to.

"Mmm.. like--"

She steps forward one more step, fingers clumsy where they meet the collar of his jacket. Given her lack of fingers in her mittens, it's probably not easy for her to hook him and pull him-- but she certainly tries. The intent is to land a semi-sloppy kiss upon his lips, awkward because of her suddenness and the likelihood of error.

And, on the assumption now that he's close enough for her to whisper in his ear, she is not the least bit shy in detailing all of the naughty things she'd like to do with him.

People were predictable, and Katherine's response was typical and reasonable for someone hearing news like this. She gives an empty apology, but even in spite of that, it means something. It's an attempt.

Remi waves away her empathetic notes, lets it wash over her along with her grief. All she can really muster anyway is bitterness and anger. Anger at her brother, who had thrown his life away on a fool's errand, and anger at the world for letting him do it.

And herself, for not seeing the danger he was chasing sooner.

"Y'know, I keep hearing people say that. Not all of them are dangerous, not every person would use them poorly, not everyone is stupid. Are you sure? Or is that just something a stupid person would say?"

She understands she's getting heated, making it personal when she probably shouldn't. She has no ground to stand on, no idea what it's like. She wasn't one of the gods chosen, she didn't have that sort of bond. She was an outsider looking in, peering through fogged glass and attempting to make sense of the impossible.

"No one seems to know a goddamned thing. Said he went missing on a ranger assignment. His mates found him pierced through by someone's Drillbur. Whoever attacked him was burnt to a crisp by the legendary Pokemon standing over my brother's body. No one knows why, or what happened, or where to start looking. All I know is it's got to be related to the Pokemon supposedly protecting him. That thing is what got him killed."

With the bottle back in her hands, she takes a swig far more generous than perhaps would be considered polite. But given the faraway look in her eye and the tone she carries when bringing up her brother, perhaps its warranted. All of a sudden, the winking and flirting and general good vibes between them fade and she exhales.

"Oh, I found him alright. He's dead."

She glances at Katherine, though the way she looks at her doesn't suggest anything outside of veiled grief. For once, her date tonight with the woman wasn't hiding an ulterior motive-- she was just beyond keeping secrets that meant nothing when kept.

"He ran off to Hoenn chasing a dream that ended up getting him killed. Legendary Pokemon and avatars and the mysterious bond between them and people-- stupid."

Remi's brows raise in amusement.

"Nice throw, asshole."

The next game rolls around and Remi sets down her drink with a resounding thud. She rolls up her proverbial sleeves and grabs hold of three darts. Teddiursa has managed to sneak off someplace near the dart boards in preparation. Though admittedly, the cub's intentions really don't reflect her own.

One after another, she tosses her thrown darts. And, whichever one was the lowest, Teddiursa would do her best to discreetly and quickly move it closer to the middle without being caught.

Remi stifles her snort in the bottom of her glass while she takes another sip.

"And you read the briefing and thought 'hey, wow, Remi would be really good at fixing this problem!' What's up with that? Should I be insulted or flattered?"

She pulls down her sunglasses masking her hangover. Although every version of Remi he's seen has probably never been top quality, best foot forward, today especially seems like she's running on low battery. Once she gets a good look at the Pangoro, she pushes her sunglasses back up the bridge of her nose and sniffs.

He hops out of the vehicle and she crawls out after, wincing a bit at the slamming of doors. But his sly, lewd comment brings her attention back around the side of the truck, her stare pointed even though he couldn't see her eyes.

"I do, do I? Huh. Maybe you should come over here and prove it, then."

But she strolls past him and searches for her pokeball containing Bane. She releases him and, for a moment, there is a brief pause in which the daycares stock take stock of him. They size him up and grunt, but look away and down at their feet to continue ignoring each other.

It really did seem that no one was in the mood for a little fun today.

The attention he gives to her is amusing, really, and is expressed in the subtle uptilt of her lips. She inclines her head, curiosity and intrigue waiting patiently while he muses over her request. Eventually, he murmurs the response she wants, and her fingers brush against his cheek briefly to note her affirmation.

On the way out, the sexist and hateful comments fall on deaf ears. Remi had come here to get paid and get laid-- and so far, she was the one winning both tickets. His arm curls around her waist, a thoughtful approach given how cold and aloof he had been, but one she appreciates nonetheless.

She leads the way with a sly smile, venturing down to the hotel suites within the building. The door clicks behind them and she wastes no time in pressing him against the door once they're inside.

"I really like your poker face."

Her smile grows, amused by her attempt at a joke, before she curls a finger and begs him to come hither.

"Give them a pattern?"

Frankly, all dances look silly to her. They all look erratic and out of order and slightly irrational. Spinda just made it a whole lot more obvious that they were out of sync than most people. She frowns, more than a little bit concerned that the woman with the best skills in the room was dumbfounded.

"You look ridiculous."

Remi allows Oscar to take the lead. He is the senior in the situation and she has no qualms about keeping her mouth shut and her head down so long as she got paid. Her attention spans calmly to the duffel bag full of cash, and then to the Delibird that waddles forward.

Once it reaches the other side, the men open up the pouch and examine the merchandise. After a moment or two of deliberation, they seem to come to an agreement and meet their gaze again. For dramatic effect, they keep a handle on the duffel bag a moment longer than necessary before zipping it up and tossing it across. Remi fetches it, slings it over her shoulder, and glances to Oscar.

"Everything peachy, boys?"

"Oh wow, thanks Jackpot." Remi rolls her eyes and exhibits her exasperated sarcasm vividly. She exhales, hangs her head for a moment, and shoots a glare back at the complete stranger she had come to realize would probably be a gigantic pain in her ass in the days to come.

He asks her where she's headed next, and she looks at him with both disgust because holy shit-- where does he get the audacity?

"Nowhere with you, asshole. Stay out of my way from here on out, yeah?"

And, with her lack of answer, Remi blows past him with the clear intent to get out of here. If he was here, she had no intention of wasting her energy trying to outdo him around every corner. She had much better things to waste her time on.

Remi chuckles, her voice dark and full of temptation. She feels the squeeze at her hips, allows herself to be pulled right back in. She had given the woman an out, a chance to pull back and change her mind.

But clearly, that wasn't what she wanted at all. And Remi was more than happy to oblige, if only to give her a taste of what she might be missing.

Her breath is warm where she presses kisses to Evelyn's neck, teasing with pinprick bites until she reaches her chin. There, she pauses before allowing herself to indulge.

Remi meets her gaze before capturing her in an aggressive, unapologetic kiss. But it is fleeting as it is intense, and she smirks and pulls away entirely.

"I'd better let you get back to work. Hate to take away from your hard work and important research."

She means it, too, in spite of how sarcastic it might come across.
