Both trainer and 'mon inhaled sharply at the gymleader's voice thundering through the stadium, gloved fist raised. They'd faced it once, and now they would face it again--- to this display of speed Zoroark could not fight. Raikiri a mere flash, a bolt of lightning across the field until it was in front of him. And then, suddenly, her Zoroark no longer stood;

The impact of the illusionary fox against the wall behind her left a large dent, bits of debris tumbling down with it as it fell to the ground, utterly defeated. Getting over her initial shock Yvaine rushed over to her partner not even a split second after, recalling him as soon as she made sure the damage he'd sustained wasn't critical.

With a silent huff she rose again and faced Josh. "Well damnit, you do know how to make the speed difference clear as hell, don'tcha?" she grinned at the Master of Faster. "Expect me around soon for a rematch!"

A hiss escapes her lips as Yvaine takes in the sight of the clash of steel fists against her Zoroark's beaten body. Its Foul Play struck true, but not true enough to make the difference they so badly needed.

With every hit she sees her partner sinking further and further to its knees, until, eventually, it no longer rises.

Defeat. A beam of red recalls the beast to its ball, where it is met with soft whispers of its proud trainer. And then she looks at her opponent, nodding her head in final greeting. "That was a great fight! Congrats to you and your Scizor, Thomas."

Zoroark's Foul Play was perfectly intercepted, the powerful strikes of the Lucario's Close Combat destroying both its momentum and its attack. It's stopped in its tracks, a fist connecting to its jaw, and the fox denying to back down; it pushes against it until it feels itself being pushed back.

Claws glow eerily as it draws back its paws, a Night Slash prepared on each side to attack and attack again if so given the chance.

The end is near yet again; fate does not seem to play in their favor, but such is life. But no matter the cost, they will not cease until the end has truly come.

Zoroark, on its last legs, would like for nothing more than to dodge, but it would be energy ill-wasted. So when the Meowth's Shadow Claw flies, so does a Night Slash of its own, a clash of claws as it attempts to defend against the full burnt of sharpened feline talons.

At this point the field of battle and its surrounding crowds feel almost soothing, their cheers and explosive enthusiasm coaxing her to join them. But she's been shown more than once that the outcome does not allow such enthusiasm just yet. The Zoroark at her side gazes wistfully at the clouds, and all Yvaine can do is whisper what it needs to hear; a little secret between the two of them.

And then she introduces herself to her latest opponent with a smile. "Yvaine, pleased to meet you."

She peers at the other side of the field, waiting for her next opponent to arrive, and raises her hand in greeting once she sees them. "I'm Yvaine, nice to meet you. Let's make this another banger, shall we?"

Zoroark reaches its prey, but the Corviknight's quick wit keeps it from sustaining more damage than the illusionary fox had hoped to inflict. When it once again tries to move away Zoroark flinches away from the sharp wings and sharper talons, preparing to bite at its wings when---

Light.

The shining light on the knight's bracelet disrupts its doings, releasing the avian, and by the time it directs its gaze towards the sky, glimmering crimson meets its eye. A crimson bullet barreling down unto it, like a comet upon a chanceless planet. It knows in that moment there is nothing left for it to do but accept what is to come.

The end is near.

But until it has truly arrived, it will keep on fighting.

Night Daze, fueled with all its will and power. For survival, or a final, defiant act against its destined fate.

Lightning was his speed, and electric were its friends.

When Raikiri flashes past, plucks of yellow fur darting about where Zoroark's claws had hit it previously, the dark-type tries to follow. But the blur of yellow is all it can make out to see, sparks of lightning gathering around it until three spherical orbs become visible.

Zoroark tries to dodge, but to no avail. They volley into its stomach in quick succession, sending the large beast flying, skidding to a halt a fair distance away from the Zeraora. With a grunt the illusionary fox tries to get back up, struggling fiercely and panting once it gets on all fours.

Its energy is forlorn. Now, it decides to await the Speedmaster's next move rather than move first.

It had expected the dome to hold. It had expected to hear the impact of the large avian against something, not feel it barreling into its own body.

The large wings beat around as the Corviknight tries to take to the skies once more, making the illusionary fox cover its face to protect it from the sand that's being kicked up, with it losing a precious opportunity to attack again.

When it peers beyond its dark fur the avian has taken flight, putting a proper distance between them. But Zoroark does not let up, pairing Agility with Foul Play to chase after it at break-neck speed.

And when it takes a dive to engage its foe, Zoroark replies in kind. A Night Daze flickers from its core and pulsates outwards, a dome of dark energy ready to tackle the steel bird's attack head-on.

Zoroark grows cocky as its claws pierce and bounce against the Scyther's carapace; too much so, in fact. Putting its weight into its strikes it becomes an easy target for his opponent when it dodges and pivots around it, leaving himself vulnerable for any attack.

And the attack his opponent chooses is one it cannot dodge. Trying to regain its balance it is numbed by the scythe that slams down on its head, and although it tries to resist, the power and resolve behind the strike proves too much.

It's thrown assunder, bouncing off against the ground as it buckles beneath Scyther's iron mettle. Its lights fade.

Zoroark does not get up anymore. Their battle is fought.

They have lost.

Was... was that a dad joke? Momentarily dumbfounded by the other's greeting she frowns, blinks, only to find a grin slowly creeping unto her face.

"Very well, then. I wasn't planning on giving you anything less than my all!"

The Zoroark moves to its designated spot on the field as well, sizing up the Lucario in front of it. Fangs show in an eager grin, and when the signal is given for their match to commence, it decides to open with Foul Play, barreling towards its new opponent with the intent to strike it down.

"We're not done yet!" Yvaine rallies her partner in turn. "Show them what you got!"

The Pikachu's electric Discharge is met with the dark miasma of her Zoroark's Night Daze, both moves clashing in a beautiful display of light and darkness. If anything, it could have been a reflection of thunder piercing through the clouds. Spurred on by its trainer's shout, the Zoroark does not let up and slowly starts pushing.
