It seems content with getting first blood, but the price to pay for it was a dire one. Too close to his opponent to properly dodge, Zoroark's defense was wide open when Elise's Mismagius fired its Thunderbolt, the bolt striking it square in the chest and forcing it back.

A pained grunt escapes the maned fox, who quickly recuperates and braces itself once more. "Not bad! But let's see what you can do against this!" It slams its fists into the ground, forcing a shockwave of dark energy past its body and towards the Mismagius. Night Daze, its most preferred means of attack.

And with the same suddenness it is picked up and thrown, tossed across the smaller pokémon's shoulder like it weighed nothing. A myth just as quickly debunked by the loud bang as it slams into the ground behind it. Using the momentum of the bounce it twists and turns, planting both feet into the ground and returning the favor with an unorthodox Foul Play.

All she can do is egg her partner on, because her eyes see nothing more than flashes of black and yellow darting across the field. If her other eye had still worked she'd probably have been able to see more, but such was the price she'd paid.

Her Zoroark yipped every now and then, signaling how things went where she could not perceive, however, keeping her up to date. The Electro Balls following in Raikiri's wake proved troublesome; although it managed to dodge the first, the second hit true and made it stumble, nearly crashing at breakneck speed.

It recovered itself, boosting itself with another Agility, and when the third arrived it dared move against it, trying to send it back to Raikiri with a single Night Slash.

There's so much to be said about speed, but as it turns out, Yvaine and her Zoroark have yet to master its ways the way Josh Devlin has. It shows when the dark-type brushes up against the Mawile and finds itself being catapulted backwards by its Iron Defense.

It skids to a halt, shakes its head to get the ringing of the impact out of its system and steadies itself once more. So speed failed. Maybe a series of Night Slashes would do the trick?

With glowing claws it approached anew, lashing out at the Mawile's enforced body, hoping to break past its Iron Defense.

With an impressive leap it took its position, hunkering low and bracing its body. If it wanted to do well against such a speed monster, it would have to take an entirely different approach than last time... which meant it needed to amp speed to stand even a fighting chance. Yvaine smiled at her partner, nodding before giving it its final directions.

"As we've discussed! I trust your judgement, Zoroark!"

When the buzzer signaled the start of the match her Zoroark immediately boosted its speed with Agility, attempting to tackle the Zeraora with Foul Play.

The redhead grins widely, feeling the rhythmic beat of her Zoroark's wagging tail beating against the back of her leg. Although it got entirely obliberated by Josh Devlin's Zeraora Raikiri in their last match, it was more than aparent that it wanted to try again. Where Yvaine knew restraint, her partner always wished to push through time and time again.

Especially when it came to battles. It was a proud pokémon, enjoying the challenge of a powerful opponent so it could grow stronger way faster. So it was only normal it grew excited when it saw Josh and Raikiri again, not even bothering to stifle a happy bark in greeting.

"Here's to hoping we'll perform better this time."

Side by side Yvaine and her Zoroark entered the stadium once more. Although her last fight had rattled her resolve, some time away from the battles to chase the scent of food, ambiance, and thunder had restored her enough to attempt once more. Mayhaps not as giddy as she had been at the start, or as ambitious, but she would attempt. Attempt to find the fun despite the losses stacking in rapid succession. This was not about the results, but the bonding between her and her Zoroark.

She just had to remind herself every now and than of said reason. The true reason she had signed up for this tournament. To prove her mettle was only one of the extras added to said reason.

Raising her hand in greeting, she nodded at her Zoroark to go ahead and get in position, feeling its body brush against her as it passed her by. It knew the reason why the losses were eating at its trainer, the deeper meaning that had nothing to do with battling. But it would show her there was more to it.

With a determined huff it nodded its head at the young woman and the Mightyena before them. "You too! Let's make this a good one."

Lady Victory did not share her ambition it seemed; for Zoroark's luck turned on it just as quickly as it came.

Not only did its opponent mega-evolve into a more powerful form when it was mere inches away from it, blinding the illusionary fox with its light, but its subsequent Extreme Speed-enhanced uppercut flung the fox skyward like a mere ragdoll. Yvaine, wishing to save her partner from a nasty drop back down recalled it mid-air, the situation aparent that it had been KO'd before it would touch the ground again.

There was the click of her tongue, disappointment creeping into her expression for a short moment. She was proud of the fights they'd fought, but the way they were so easily being tossed around by many of their opponents was slowly starting to take its toll.

Perhaps it was time to change their training regime again...

"That was a hell of a comeback alright. Congratulations on your victory, Megan." Yvaine said, extending her hand towards the younger woman.

It scrambles unto its feet with haste, shaking debris from its mane before slamming one of its paws into the ground. It bares fangs in an excited grin and roars, letting Agility fuel its Foul Play as it charges forth one more.

Bruised and beaten, that's how her Zoroark emerged once they clashed again, a volley of fists of a devastating Close Combat raining down on its battered body. It grows agitated in its inability to escape from the downpour of hits, snarling violently at the Lucario.

And then it forces itself forward into the Lucario's attack, allowing its agitation to fuel a pulsing Night Daze from within, hoping to hit it point-blank.
