Klaus flushes as he suddenly finds Beau's arm slung around his shoulders and his smaller frame pulled against the man's body. He'd forgotten the other was a Gym leader for a time, and for a fleeting moment panic claws at this throat and a soft, strangled noise not unlike a whimper escapes his throat.

Would Beau suddenly realise Klaus spent the darker hours of the night smuggling when he was bored? He knew Klaus worked at the lighthouse - surely it was a thought that could cross anyone's mind.

"I went on a date last night," he says instead. That would shake Beau off his trail.

The next moment he finds himself seated in a chair. Looking from it to Beau, his brow furrows minutely as he debates whether to help the man. Klaus was decent in the kitchen but he couldn't say he enjoyed cooking.

Suddenly he pipes up in clarification, "It was bad. The date. Not - not this."

Klaus's sour mood flees in place of uncertainty as the door rattles and then opens. His own mouth opening to speak, his words clog in his throat as he finally spies Beau after more than a year away. He tries, and wholly fails, not to look from Beau's face to his broad chest, and then clears his throat with a strangled cough.

"Right. It's nice to see you. Or whatever."

Slowly moving past Beau as if the man might bite him - and wouldn't that be a dream come true? - Klaus peers around the apartment as he takes in its sights for the first time. "This is nice," he says lamely, uncertain what to say. It's much cleaner than his own room on the lighthouse's grounds at least.

"I brought a movie. For us to watch. Together." Klaus offers the DVD to Beau without quite looking at him - instead distracted by what he's fairly certain is a photo of Beau shirtless.

The hope to blow off some steam before whatever this will be leaves Klaus feeling unhinged at best, but still slinks over to Beau's apartment the morning after his date with Marianne Lovelace. Hands shoved deep in his hoodie, he fidgets with a DVD containing the horror movie The Sadness and a small pokeball brought all the way from Kalos.

At the very least it would be movie Klaus had enjoyed. Whether Beau would was wholly up in the air.

The weather has turned stormy by the time he knocks on Beau's door - much like the night they made plans to meet. With a crack of lightning and rumble of thunder when the door opens, Klaus utters a timid, "Hey," as he's met with the sight of Beau

Despite his dislike of the genre - this much noise tended to give him anxiety, Klaus slowly feels the tension bleed from his frame as Togepi quiets down. He gives a half-hearted smile and chuckle at Beau's words.

He leans against the counter, content to not speak for the time being as the music plays and Togepi chirrups along occasionally as if it knew the words. Hell, maybe it did. A quick glance at his own Pokemon reveals Froakie and Applin both sitting with relieved looks and bubble-made headphones to block out the music.

Klaus snorts.

A few more songs pass and finally the front door swings open to reveal the daycare's owners. While the older man looks sheepish, his wife announces for both of their benefits, "Gas! Can you believe it. Just gas. And here everyone thought it was a heart attack."

Wouldn't it be his luck if Marianne went home with this man instead. His face a touch red, Klaus gives a little shrug and blurts out a quiet "Yeah," in reply.

"Do you want, like, to get a drink and sit down or something," he hazards, only to shoot his rival a deep glare when the man suggests Marianne can stay with him instead. "Man, fuck off," Klaus snaps - no longer interested in making a good impression at this point.

To the deeply amused bartender, Klaus orders a beer and tacks on a "And whatever the fuck she wants," before taking his drink and going to sit down. Marianne could either join him or not.

He was getting drunk tonight with or without her.

Relief instantly seizes Klaus as the Togepi becomes Beau's problem by virtue of holding the thing last. Raking a hand through his hair, he stares a touch enviously as Beau seems to immediately quiet the screaming bastard.

Well, he certainly wouldn't complain.

"Yeah, whatever, let me look," Klaus mumbles, though nonetheless searches for a radio in the small room. He comes up lucky for once, and just behind the reception counter is a small stand-alone radio that he flicks on.

Heavy metal of all things screams from the tinny speakers, and Klaus winces subtly as he quickly moves to turn down the volume. A soft "Fuck," sounds from Klaus before he beings turning the dial for another station, only to stop as a shrill scream from Togepi gives him pause.

Blinking once, he carefully, slowly, turns the station back to the screaming metal and Togepi coos again to settle into the embrace of Beau's arms. Turning his gaze from the Togepi to Beau, he offers an incredulous look that practically says, "Are you seeing this shit?"

Meanwhile, Froakie shoots Klaus an annoyed look at the shredding guitars from the radio and pointedly sculpts both itself and Applin a pair of bubble headphones to blot out the sound.

Winding his way up the stairs of the lighthouse, Klaus plops himself before the radio. He fits the headphones over his ears, his attention drawn to the buzzing in his pocket, and flicks on a few switches before checking his phone.

A half-smile quirks onto his lips as he taps out:

Yeah ok that's fine. I'll bring a movie or something.
[break][break]
Blueberries.
[break][break]
Somewhat giddy with anticipation, Klaus coos softly to his Alolan Meowth when she hops up onto the desk and takes her place beside the radio. Giving her a few scratches beneath her chin, he then turns his attention back to the storm beyond the lighthouse's window.

Outside the storm rages with howling wind and monstrous waves. He hopes there aren't too many accidents resulting from the weather. Buoyed by his impending... outting... Klaus flicks on the final button and offers safe harbour to the ships approaching Lilycove.

A single drop of ruby colour litters an otherwise monotone landscape as Klaus emerges from a patch of brittle grass and spindly tree limbs; nestled at the roots of an aged tree, an apple with green eyes and a tail sit inconspicuously.

The eyes blink at Klaus. Klaus blinks back.
[break][break]
Staring at one another for a time, he eventually offers somewhat apologetically, "Sorry if you're comfy, but you're coming with me."

Mumbling along to the lyrics as he walks, a shiver in a patch of grass draws Klaus's attention. He stills as he watches the blade of grass continue to shudder, until finally a Petilil pops out from the cold ground; shaking off the dirt and cold, the Pokemon huffs out a breath and hops in place to warm itself.

"Hey," Klaus calls over the music pouring into his ears, one headphone lifted away, "You wanna come with?" It was one he was looking for, after all.

Despite the cold the pond Klaus stumbles across seems teeming with life; specifically, an Alomomola dances near the surface and colours the water a brilliant coral. Thanking everything he can imagine that he doesn't have to set foot in the water, Klaus soon moves on in search of other Pokemon.

Sipping at his newly-poured cup of coffee, Klaus peers at his texts and winces subtly as Beau relays his floor battle. Setting his cup down, he then snorts and weighs his concerns about Beau's cooking; the man was a walking disaster of an entirely different sort than Klaus was. In theory he might be decent at cooking with all that working out he did - but then again maybe he just ate protein powder out of the canister and called it a day.

Biting at his bottom lip for a moment, his thumbs hover over his keyboard before he taps out,

Alright pick a morning and make me cry.

Good cry not sad cry.

His blush deepening, Klaus quickly sips at his coffee to distract himself and steps carefully as his Meowth weaves through his legs while climbing up towards the top of the lighthouse to check the radio.
