[attr="class","body"]Kouji felt his stomach tighten, but he couldn’t lose out to this nerd; it was a cruel lock that was being formed around Kouji smirked for a moment before it was wiped away, the smiles were gone as he looked at the sight of his Eevee being torn to shreds, it was a difficult sight; he saw red for a moment before it came to a stop; the pokemon twitched, but he didn’t need a moment to know she was broken.

No, he wasn’t a child. She was dead, she wouldn’t move again, she would never ever move again. It was a simple truth, it was the only truth, and Kouji faced that directly, as a man should’ve faced it. He stepped forward; into the battlefield of pokemon, and picked up his eevee that hit the floor unceremoniously.

He held her bloody form in his hand, his eyes were empty as he cradled her, there was only one resolution for this fight now. ”Sneasel.” He pulled her from his pocket and threw her out.

Sneasel looked back at its trainer, a howl from her throat as if to answer his call, before looking forward at the pokemon it was to face.

”Beat up.” He said, as two other shadows jumped from it, a series of dark-types, his Deino and Absol joined in the fight.

He wrapped up his eevee, and placed her down on the ground, before his eyes spotted the other trainer. ”Alright, no more playing around.” And then he charged forward himself, cutting around the battle field.

Two pokemon jumped out into the open as he looked over at the girl. ”Alright, a Pawniard huh? Well, if you wanna stay training, that’s fine, but I’ll go for the pawniard.” He said as he grabbed a pokeball, might as well jump into the fray straight off. It might run, but he kept an eye out on the strange water bug.

Steel hardness, and yet a deep darkness, he enjoyed the idea of having both of them at once; a pokemon he could properly connect with, and so he threw the pokeball forward, hoping against hope that it would be caught.

Kouji couldn’t catch sight of River anymore, but he knew just what he needed to do; stepping forward into the clearing, he took a look at the bunker. Rounding it, and looking around it, he looked at it. His hands did not go into the door, but he did feel somewhat uncomfortable with the fact, it was a strange thing, but it was true.

It looked clear, no troubles this far in, they could take it, but at the same time…That wasn’t their mission. He saw the last time he had gone off on his own script, and how that ended up, better back away now, and wait to see what River would be able to pull up.

And get ready to support him just in case, but he did get the feeling he was being watched.

Kouji smirked as he looked at the battle, the pokemon he was facing was strong, stronger than Scraggy was; it didn’t take a genius to see that much. ”Dodge.” He shouted, but the flames weren’t so easy a thing to avoid.

They flared up, powerful as they could be, and began to nip at the smaller pokemon, it began to take it directly, and then exploded against him, sending him flying back. A strong strike, but he stood up, forced himself to stand up.

Going back with a yell, the little Scraggy jumped into the battle once more, powering up a strike, that was, his low-kick, sliding against the sand to kick the shiny Delphox in the shins.

Kouji heard the words, but his body was too busy moving; his mind was a machine; it was to be expected for the young man raised on violence, and who had embraced it so fully, but it moved as naturally as always. His knife flicked out, and he stepped forward, one of the trainers was being grasped, his hand moved fluidly as he slid forward with his right leg into a smooth slash across the throat, it was a dirty sight but he didn’t need to pay attention to that directly.

He stepped to the side, the officer who had been shot had stepped back, and Kouji hadn’t the time to do anything else but dash in, shoulder barge against the wound, and throw his all into the stab that went directly into the man’s stomach, it offered some protection, but bullet proof vests were infamously bad with knifes, not like Kouji paid much attention to details like that, his knife slipped into the gap between the ultra dense fibers, and slid into the flesh, before he twisted it. ”Night Slash!” He shouted to his Absol.

The Cloyster had opted to shoot another ice shard, this time in Kouji’s direction, a fast move that got off the moment it had made that direction, but Absol had attacked mere moments after, a slash with its strongest move, a fast moving attack that struck a point of vulnerability and caused the pokemon to fade moments after.

The ice shard shot towards him, scraped the back of his neck, and took a streak of hair that was replaced with red; just inches away from an instant death that was too fast for him to perceive. But that was fine.

He moved back, his eyes towards Gavin, and the rest of the pokemon battle, it was finishing up soon enough.

”I wasn’t messing around sir, but I can’t consider myself a winner unless it’s a total breakdown.” In that sense he had lost as that trainer had run away, but that was fine, he hoped down, a hand to the back of his neck, another wound to the pile, today had really been a high intensity day.

Kouji couldn’t hold back in that clash of spirits, it was tough, he had everything he could have loaded up. As he charged forward; it felt like the space between the two expanded, the colours shifted, a myriad rainbow. Each was a different emotion, each was a different scent, each had a different sound, each had a different weight.

Red was anger, green was envy, purple was pride, he felt them, the weight of each settled on him, the colors all mashed together just moments before impact; his fist rocked back, a shout building at his throat as the world went the purest of whites.

”Naaaaaaaavyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.”

The word was thrown out with all his force, until his voice went raw, he threw his punch forward; the two fists glided past each other, and he felt the fist impact his face; just as he felt his own fist make contact.

And then the world went black, the deepest of nights; a dark blacker than black; the loss of consciousness, but that dot of red, was it just blood spotting at his vision?

”Eh?” Kouji tilted his head to the side as he fiddled with the pokeball in his hand. ”Didn’t you just get flipped over? Is that really something you should be saying?” It seemed rather straight forward to him. Her tone was strong, this woman was a leader, but that didn’t mean she was a fighter. He didn’t want to underestimate her in the slightest but.

”It’d suck to kick the ass of a hot chick, so why not just turn around and go? I’ll just pretend I didn’t see ya. I don’t know, consider it the remnants of my…Gentlemanly heart? Chivalric heart? I’m not sure, something flowery like that.” He threw his pokeball up and caught it, he was still tense and ready to go. But…

He might as well extend the favor that she offered him, a chance to run.

A champion that stands above the others, that was the goal. Kouji didn’t have any such thing, he knew, he had thought, and he felt he had reached until he had seen just how far away from the top he had been that entire day.

”Close but no dice. I don’t care about being the best warrior in Rocket. I’m more of a breaker nowadays, if they send me to attack things I’m satisfied with just that much, but if I had a goal…” Kouji made sure to be straight forward about it, what he actually wanted before smirking as he brought himself back up to his feet.

It would be the first time he put this into words, but at the same time it felt just right. ”For a never ending brawl, everywhere.” Chaos, unending battles, if he couldn’t have a normal life in society, nobody else should be able to. Kouji came to that conclusion in that moment. It was different to rocket, it was his goal and his alone, he finally gave voice to it.

It wasn’t a goal born of simple spite, but something built up by him in this encounter, in all of his encounters. He had grown, his pokemon had grown, and he wanted that to continue, a world of unending evolution, that was his goal. ”I just want to be able to fight all the time, with everyone.” That was it, his simple idea. But he wouldn’t put voice again to it, for a while.

”Let’s wrap this up. My mind’s is fading, and I’d rather go out to punch.” His legs were shaky, he could feel it, in the dream. His mind was growing sharper, for this singular blow that he would deliver. It would be the final send off.

Kouji hadn’t expected to get jumped; the feeling of someone jumping onto him, of covering his mouth; it kicked him into gear straight away. He might well have been a so-so trainer, but he was a street rat, a delinquent, a man who spent almost every day getting into fights, being jumped?

Well, he had an idea on how to deal with it, the person was lighter than him, he bent forward at pace, bending his knees, and bucking his hips upwards as if to throw them off his back as if to get them off him as soon as possible, a hand flying for his pokeballs at his waist. ”Alright, let’s see who tried to kill me.” He said with a smirk, as if the idea itself excited him.

Being on watch was far more boring than a battle he was excited for.

”Well…” He said with a shrug, he knew a day like that would come at some point. He’d left everyone behind, betrayed those that supported him, and kicked down the pillar that was the centerpoint of his life for better or worse. It was the kind of life he had lived for a singular concept he didn’t really understand.

”When it happens, I’ll just go out nice and flashy. I’d rather get surrounded alone than stabbed in the back.” That was the simple truth of it, at least he knew who he could fight, he didn’t have to think too much, it was the situation in which he could simply swing his fists around.

”So, what’s your goal? The big thing driving ya?” He had asked this to grunts, scientists, his enemies, his allies, those he killed, those he saved, but he had forgotten to ask the very person he had spent the better quarter of this day fighting.

Kouji smirked in return, but that smirk dropped away just the same. ”It ain’t just running away that gets you a scarred back.” He knew the truth of that full well. ”It’s getting betrayed. A guy like you is someone that can be easily sold off. The world ain’t that kind and it definitely ain’t peachy. Stabbing someone in the back, that’s the average monday for some people.”

He knew that full well, he’d done it before, and he’d do it again, it was the darkness that clung to things, he and his pokemon weren’t all the different in some ways, it was why he gravitated towards that type. They looked cute and fluffy at times, and yet, their repressed, suppressed, evil notions would overtake them at some point.

It was the knowledge any dark type trainer should have held, most suppressed it to never be seen again. But Kouji encouraged it, and in doing so, he encouraged himself.

”Your biggest enemy is usually the one next to ya.”
