For a moment longer they walk in silence, and Bo interrupts it to kickstart another conversation. She glances at him with a subtle tilt of her cheek.[break][break]

There is a small smile to grace her lips; a knowing one. Kicking too much ass would draw attention, and she was here more or less to enjoy herself and to scout for Rocket- sort of.

Copperjah steps forward, heavy feet rumbling the ground beneath them. It makes each rainwater puddle tremble, jumping at her every move. Without warning, the steel elephant slams her trunk down toward Milotic with a POWER WHIP.

The Togekiss is fast, but Crobat is prepared, trained, eager to respond. That slight flicker of movement is enough tell for the bat to pulse a HYPNOSIS out. It catches the Togekiss, or it will, hopefully.[break][break]

GUST proves successful, for the Mothim attempts to PROTECT a second time and fails. It tears at his wings and causes him to plummet, broken pieces of the protective barrier sparkling around his flailing body.

The word home feels hollow, and she purposes not to refer to Hoenn as such. Even still, curiosity gets the better of her. For all of their time spent together since he'd returned, they'd spent very little time talking.[break][break]

Bill's first choice is Milotic. Emma's would be Inteleon for the sake of set-up. That, and she was fishing for a reaction from the man who'd given it to her. The small, helpless Sobble had grown exponentially.[break][break]

Inteleon bows, and rain begins to pour as a result of her odd RAIN DANCE. Nearby, a Copperjah and Umbreon wait patiently for their turn.

It is completely unexpected to see- or rather hear her Beedrill fall. The two collide in the middle, both bull-headed and stubborn enough to not see their fate spelled out in the sand. They crash, falling together for an impromptu nap in the hot sun.[break][break]

Which leaves just Mightyena and Dugtrio.[break][break]

The dog pulls himself out of his flinch to see the ASTONISH. Thanks to both his stubborn resolve and his intimidating sneer, he manages to push right through it. And, although worn out and weak from Bulu's harassment, the mutt clamps down on the Dugtrio to thrash it with a vicious FIRE FANG, ending the battle.[break][break]

There is a moment of pause like bated breath before the crowd goes wild in praise for the finale.

Emma seethes, irritated by her partner's constant nagging and complaining.[break][break]

"Just focus, and stop shouting."[break][break]

Did he need a hearing aid?[break][break]

Mothim does not succumb to the SKY ATTACK, as a shimmering white PROTECT nullifies any damage. It blows right past him, leaving him unable to attack in return.

Mightyena FLINCHES on contact. His attack never lands, for his teeth clash against themselves so hard he sees stars. The hound crashes into the ground, his TAKE DOWN damaging him more than his opponent.[break][break]

And the Beedrill? He faces off against yet another TRI-ATTACK, this one burning his main stinger. Pain lances up his striped, neon-green body, but he is stronger than that. Even at the end of his rope, he has a plan.[break][break]

Cutting down the Bulu was likely their best bet. He had the upper hand in terms of typing, and he aims to succeed. But in order to do so, he had to cut the Bulu down to size. With the rain diminishing, now was the time.[break][break]

He lunges, aiming to cut him through with ENDEAVOR.

Emma pointedly looks ahead, only bristling behind her ice-cold mask at his unfriendly reminder. What made her more uncomfortable was the fact it was true. He had carried her, and she'd even fallen asleep. How pathetic.[break][break]

She tosses out Crobat, and the oversized bat Pokemon charges the first Pokemon it sees- the Togekiss across the field. With a series of AIR SLASHES, it aims to cut into its plump white body.[break][break]

The NPC Mothim advances on King's Unfezant with a BUG BUZZ, hoping to disorient.

Was that.. milk?[break][break]

Emma pulls the soda away from her lips when drops of.. milky rain splash against the edge of the aluminum rim. Her brows come together in concern and she promptly covers her drink with the flat of her palm.[break][break]

Weighed down by ice, the Beedrill is unable to out-pace the second TRI-ATTACK. It collides with him, this time with a PARALYZING ray. He twitches and seizes, violently trying to take control of his body. The necklace the woman wears glows against her chest. It is warm to the touch and she gasps, fingers grasping at it to pull it away from her skin.[break][break]

Beedrill swells in size, single stinger tripling. Three dangerous, pointed stingers shed the paralysis and the ice. It seems rejuvenated, and it turns to the Tapu Bulu. Dugtrio was a threat beneath him(even if he couldn't penetrate). [break][break]

He can smell the poison that plagues the deity, and he takes advantage of it. Like a wolf on the hunt, it zeroes in on the weak. VENOSHOCK acts almost like a psychic move, attempting to throttle the poison in Bulu's veins and make it worse.[break][break]

Mightyena, rattled that he's being ignored, charges to TAKE DOWN Bulu from behind.

Emma sounds exasperated, but her name: 'Anna' is called to the play. She and King are set against a pair of NPCs. Neither of them seem to pick up on the animosity between them, and that is probably a blessing.[break][break]

Her name is called and she wastes no time in approaching the battle arena. This one is different than the rest. For the most part, all of her battles have been typical battle formating. Some of them she'd heard had been more arcade-based or creative, steering away from traditional battling.[break][break]

This one appeared to be traditional as well other than the fact it was set in a pool. [break][break]

With three individual splashes, Emma does her best to calculate the size of each Pokemon. Thankfully, the announcer describes each Pokemon by name for the crowd. Kabutops. Golisopod. Armaldo.[break][break]

Fossil Pokemon, primarily. Nothing she hadn't seen before, given her ex-fiance's passion for the beasts.[break][break]

"A spectacle indeed. Good luck."[break][break]

But it would more likely be herself that needed the luck. Although she was hardly invested in this tournament to score wins, she had come to this one sorely underpowered. The woman releases her own three Pokemon: an Araquanid, a Surskit, and a Sobble. Given her lack of clear action, Doug is free to begin.

It is unexpected for someone to approach her in a crowd. She is typically a loner, a ghost, someone undetected among many eyes and many faces. [break][break]

And yet someone presses next to her, and although he never touches her, his voice carries a heavy weight.[break][break]

Old memories had surfaced faster than new, and Boruta had evidently been one of these old memories. Familiarity and unease settle in her chest like an old friend, and her chin tilts down at the nudge of hush puppies. They smell heavenly, admittedly, and it is equally uneasy how willingly she reaches to acknowledge and accept his offering.[break][break]

"Bo."[break][break]

Her fingers brush against his and hesitate, before she finds the hush puppy between his fingers to pluck it free. This close, it would be hard to miss the bandage covering one eye and see how dark her sunglasses are - nearly impossible for her to see through.

She allows a breathy chuckle, attention drawn by the Shellos on the woman's shoulder. Though she evidently cannot distinguish what exactly, it is, she does realize it is uncannily familiar.[break][break]

It reminds her of the way THEO BECKETT had set his on his shoulder. It was.. affectionate and kind, something she hadn't expected. [break][break]

And given the fact that Skyler was a woman of the sea with her very own ship, she could only assume that it was a water-type Pokemon she held. Which made her choice fairly simple.[break][break]

Emma releases a Galvantula.[break][break]

Somewhere in between their greetings and Skyler's challenge, Emma lifts her fingers to her sunglasses and to the banadage beneath them. She exhales, offering a small smile.[break][break]
