When she had been told to meet Skyler at the beach, that was decidedly not what she had expected. Especially given the promised diving trip, her expectation had been that she would be called over to the docks or something. She even did see a boat coming closer, only to blink confusedly when it stopped some distance from the shore. Not that she had much of a problem with any of this, really. Violet just had no practical experience with any of this. The only ships she had boarded so far had been small rowing boats at home and a few larger ocean liners and yachts, usually for celebrations she had invited herself into.

But a privately owned small craft like this? She had no idea at all. For once, she definitely was not just playing the out of touch aloof lady at all. Though she had dressed relatively sensitively for this, at least. A light, sleeveless white summer dress hid her own swimwear, with little more than a pair of sandals and a handbag otherwise. Copious amounts of sunscreen promised to keep her pale skin relatively safe.

In short, she was still very much in her element when her date for the day leaves hers. In a way that makes Vio smirk profoundly. That was a welcoming committee she could get used to, after all. “Oh, hi there. Have you seen my date? She looks a lot like you, just less like someone straight out of a spy movie~”. Obviously, that was an allusion to the famous one about the man from Mime 6.

“I am certain that you will make do,” she simply replied, trying to sound very haughty. It didn’t really work though, given that her facial expression was anything but. They did have a way of going back and forth with jokes like this, didn’t they? Skyler was someone who could at the very least match her in wit, which was very promising all things considered. It was Vio’s third most favourite thing about the other.

If there was any awkwardness in the other’s actions, it is either disregarded or goes unnoticed. Instead, the faux aristocrat simply nods. “Yes, I can swim reasonably well. Though you are quite brazen, wanting to take off my dress all but immediately like that.” Another chuckle, since they both knew what she actually meant. Not wasting any time though, Vi made sure that the other wouldn’t have to do anything and swiftly pulled the dress over her head. This was a beach, after all, so either style of dress was perfectly decent. Her swimsuit was an embroidered cloth bikini in whit with teal accents, to match her usual style of clothing.

Wasting no time, Violet folded the dress neatly and stacked it with her bag and the sandals she kicked off. Levitation sure would be useful for this. Without that, she’d probably have Frosmoth carry it. Naturally, her pokeballs were secured on a belt that she put on again. The shop owner had assured her that it was how all the divers did it. “That more to your liking, my dear?”

“My, thank you,” she replied. Sometimes, it was best to just respond completely deadpan to a tease like that. Well, not emotionless, since she still sounded friendly and polite. But she simply took the compliment, rather than take it teasingly. Which, in and of itself could probably be considered a tease, really.
Though somehow, she had apparently managed to subconsciously tease a few Pokémon to jump out of the waves and approach them. That was….new. But she certainly would not complain, really.

Skyler certainly didn’t, ordering her Starmie to multitask its psychic abilities, not just levitating the bag and clothes, but also all out assaulting the Lapras. “This definitely is brazen indeed,” Vi commented while reaching for her own poke balls, quickly throwing one of them to release Frosmoth. It was her go-to Pokémon, after all. While everyone was distracted with the big Lapras stuck in the net, she instead sent it off towards one of the stalls, where an Aromatisse was trying to capitalize on the confusion and loot a bit. Vi was not quite sure what it might have wanted with ice cream, especially this early in the morning. But it was instead greeted by an Icy Wind, briefly freezing it.
Fortunately, it was not a water type, so it wasn’t too resistant to the attack. Not that Vi actually knew that, really. This was just her most common strategy to try and capture new Pokémon, really. As such, she threw a ball of her own, simply hoping for the best, before a voice drew her attention back towards Skyler again. A hand was offered. And while she was still waiting for the capture to either succeed or fail, that question was answered clearly and quickly. “Of course I do, my dear.” Well, as much as she trusted anyone, really. It wasn’t as deep as it probably sounded, but she was certain that she was safe with the other, as she grasped the hand offered.

Well, she had not expected that! Being a bit distracted with the ongoing capture, she was caught completely off guard by this, easily being pulled into the other’s arms like that. However, she did not feel like there was anything bad about this at all, being in this close a contact with the still drying, warm skin. It was rather enjoyable, even if a faint blush crept up her face. “Doesn’t feel wrong though,” she noted quietly, staying in the moment for a bit before they ultimately separated. They both could play this particular game and she certainly did not mind that fact at all.

Frosmoth, in the meantime, is being a faithful Pokemon, collecting the ball with the captured Aromatisse for her to clip onto the belt as well. With that little delay though, Vio has to rush just a little bit to catch up with the other woman, hastily entering the water. She has no fear of it, of course, though in the first few moments, it feels a lot colder than expected.
There is a brief shudder as she acclimates. “Yeah, it’s all okay,” she replied, even as she struggled a bit getting going.

Which was decidedly not helped when she entered somewhat deeper water and something weird brushed against her leg. With a brief yelp and a thrashing, she lost her balance. It was enough to see her briefly get water into her mouth to blurt out again in a somewhat undignified manner. The struggle is real momentarily – but not just for her. The sudden movement also caused the Chinchou responsible to surface, blinking lights appearing from below. And that, in turn gets a protective Frosmoth to once more attempt to freeze an opponent. The chain reaction ultimately ends with Vi suddenly getting really cold as she stabilizes in the now half frosted water, shuddering, yet managing to stay afloat.
It is more out of pettiness that she just reaches awkwardly for another ball and throws it at the Pokemon, believing that she might as well, even as she recuperates from the whole ordeal.

At least there was a knight in shining armour now. Well, more like no armour at all. A bikini didn’t exactly count for much in that regard. But whatever one might want to call her, Skyler was swiftly by her side, pulling her away from the perceived threat. The snarky part of her wanted to comment on how said threat had already been taken care of by the Pokémon at hand, but she shut that up quickly. It kind of did feel good that someone cared, after all. Didn’t happen too often these days, after all. That blush from earlier was back – also because Vio struggled a bit threading water properly with another person this close to her.
It was fairly evident that she could indeed deal with the wettest of elements, but she certainly was not at home in it. Probably the lack of regular exercise and exposure, really. Still, she was able to cope with what had happened rather well.

“I…I kind of ran into a Pokémon, I think….” Once more, Frosmoth dutifully returned with the ball and the little monster captured inside. Vi really would have to check that one out later on. But for now, she was kind of cross with it, so it could rot in a ball for the time being. Still, she somehow managed to fidget that one onto her belt as well while she watched Skyler dealing with another thing.
For the time being, she really just wants to get onto the boat so they can sort things out for a few moments. Vio often liked things proceeding in an orderly fashion, especially when she doesn’t expect any troubles at all. “Are there always so many Pokémon out on the water? I never knew.” She watched another one pass by, but let it go for the time being.
