Granite Cave.

Another aptly named cave at the 'end' of the goddamn world.

Or more accurately, the corner of the region. The maps kept going long past where Hoenn stopped, but the region seemed to have a hold of some kind over him. Leaving felt strange and even rash of a decision. Maybe because he had nowhere else to go and after the weeks and weeks he'd been active and in the population, the region was finally starting to feel like home.

To cover his bases one pkmn of fiery attack and one of overflowing defenses made up his vanguard.

He wasn't sure when he would be attacked but no matter what untamed pkmn came into play; he was ready to add something new to the rosters.

valerio has outstayed his welcome in dewford after the fire incident at the motel and while the inn masters appear very accommodating, they do want the customer to be going his way now for he proves bad for their business, trying to blackmail and poach them of compensation. he is on his third day on the island, seeing the granite cave that he once visited after following an old acquaintance.[break][break]

this time, it is an unfamiliar face that greets him. “hey mate. you new here? i haven't seen you around.” the rocket redhead struggles not to laugh, considering the joke that he is not a local himself.[break][break]

He wasn't here very long before he met another man with red hair.

Once was happenstance, twice was odd if he met a third redhead in a third cave this week he would know he was stuck in a simulation.

For now he acknowledged the other man and his question, looking for something in particular. "Yeah, something like that." He'd asked if the ranger was from around here but that didn't really matter and small talk was a waste of everyone time.

Seeing a shadow dance on the walls he took off after what he'd seen rounding the corner to find a pkmn that shot straight to the top of his "what the hell is that?"-list.

It was a sword; a sentient sword. Or at least a pokemon that looked like a sword. He didn't need to think twice about it, whatever it was... he wanted it.

Jumping down a meter or two to a deeper part of the cave he made a quick assessment. A pokemon that was basically sword come alive was probably steel/ghost-typed, or steel/dark. Returning Kiri to her pokéball "INFERNO." the remaining charmander was given the first attack razing the sword with a vertical spinning of intense fire as the ranger threw out a second pokéball.

As the Salamence formed from light the defending sword began to 'dance' back and forth invoking an aura or light that probably meant its attacks were augmented.

Sénon didn't intend to give it the chance to attack.

Jakka used INFERNO; its super effective!
Honedge was badly burned!
Honedge used SWORD DANCE; its attack raised!

"Jakka, again INFERNO." With the Salamence watching him he pointed to the sword. "FLAMETHROWER." Salamence firing its flames at the base of charmander's INFERNO made for a cylindrical pyre from which the steel-type would be engulfed in its prominent weakness.

When the flames died down the aurasword came slashing at the charmander leaving several marks and slashes too fast for little Jakka to dodge or counter.

Jakka used INFERNO; its super effective!
Salamence used FLAMETHROWER; its super effective!
Honedge used AERIAL ACE!

"Together! FIRE FANG and CRUNCH!" The two reptiles swarmed the sword Jakka biting down with super-heated fangs and Salamence with a muscular mandible charged with dark energy. The "sword" dropping defeated with a clang.

Jakka used INFERNO; its super effective!
Salamence used CRUNCH; its super effective!

Double-teamed, burned and hit with multiple attacks it was weak against, there was no doubt the sword was finished. When it was used next, it would be under the orders of a new master.

Hitting it with one of the few Luxury Balls () in his possession he wondered if he might be able to one day use the Sword Pokémon, like an actual sword.

a tough shell to break. that is what the redhead looks like for valerio and he sneers at the fact that he likes a little challenge.[break][break]

zeus makes a curious glance at his trainer before his ears caught something moving out of the rubbles. apparently, the barrage of fire attacks has caused some boulders to fall. valerio checks and sees a numel in pain. the benefit of the man's cascading assault is that his altaria does not have to do one his own, and he's fine with that. he throws a pokéball and makes his first capture.[break][break]

the rocket rubs his hand into his coat and stretches for the other. “name’s jonathan. you can call me mine.” and then he flashes a wink.[break][break]

Before he could offer his name in return Sénon saw a marvelous pokémon scuttling by that he understood imminently; a tiny arthropod seemingly made of steel.

Bug weren't good in the heat, neither were steel-types

Calling Kiri back to her 'ball to conserve space, Salamence was released to take her place and not giving the bug a chance to attack or flee. After having done it so many times he finally had a name for this combination attack.

"Target the bug with a 'firenado'!" With their target ready the Lizard and Dragon Pokémon combined their specified flames.

Jakka's INFERNO of incomparable flames guaranteed to leave the target with a lasting burn, further pushed to a superheated temperature beyond absolute by Salamence's FLAMETHROWER!

Jakka used INFERNO; Durant was badly burned!
Salamence used FLAMETHROWER!

It took a while for the heat to subside and while it did he introduced himself. "I'm Game." He gave the name with a head nod. Not having any special particular ball to use on the "Durant", according to the dataDEX. So he tapped its tiny body with a premier ball, the new standard.

Pocketing the occupied pokéball he put in away and grabbed a fresh one. Some of the missed parts of his exchange with Johnathan comeing back into the forefront of his mind. "Does Dewford even have locals?" He hadn't lived in Hoenn long but this place more remote than Cinnabar Island was to the rest of Kanto.

A Croagunk clearly a different palette than Dose landed before them and without wasting a beat he ordered the same attack combo on the teal croaker making a cameo.

As his 'double dragons' made their joint attack again; Charmander's INFERNO and Salamence's FLAMETHROWER, Sénon realized he was being hit on, minutes after the fact. "Oh. you said 'you can call me, mine' then I said 'I'm game'."

He belted out a throaty laugh at his own density. "First of all, thats a terrible pick-up line man." How old was this guy? For a moment he almost let his judgement pass but then the reality weighed in, he'd get chopped in the throat before a girl gave him to the time of day with lines like that. "Second, redheads don't date other redheads, its selfish and its wasteful."

Jakka used INFERNO; S*Croagunk was badly burned!
Salamence used FLAMETHROWER!

The moment he could see the Croagunk again its shiny coat was charred, it looked quite cooked, unable to fight on. A pokéball its accepted refuse from an onslaught of fire.

his attention is caught by the pairs of iron legs walking past the shiny croagunk. where Sénon Game decides to lay waste with another round of infernal flames, valerio decides to cover the remaining earth with zeus's draco meteor. lairon struggles to put up a fight, which eventually leads him to throw a capsule at it.[break][break]

the other redhead's attempt to explain gapes his mouth filled with clarity. “ohhh! okay, okay.” he chuckles with the insult. “hey, i haven't yet dropped my best one from my arsenal. and besides,” the rocket crouched to pick the newly captured creature. “are you even playing for my team?”[break][break]

Same team? That depended on the context really. In the context which seemed to be implied by the redhead he meant sexually. It brought a grin to Sénon's face to actually ponder that question and the answer came back fast enough with the history to corroborate. "I kissed a boy once, we were just kids, good friends, figuring things out. Seven-year olds, you know?"

He moved to stand between Johnathan and his own fire duo who were sizing up a steel-type in the distance floating through the area. "My girlfriend had been moved to a different class and I assumed kissing boys and kissing girls was the same thing." Turned out it wasn't. "For me, it was like the difference between eating cotton candy and eating toilet paper. I was surprised at the stark difference."

With hand gestures equating to "New teammate; attack." he ordered the lizards to use their combined flames to down the Metang; and they followed through with critical success.

"So, that's a confirmed negative Red; different teams. Can't say I don't respect your hustle though."

The steel-type was covered in soot and glaring red from the fiery scorn it suffered. Worn down as it was, a pokéball would be its resting salvation so Sénon offered it a confining reprieve.

“yeah, i understand, but, you didn't have to say it like that!” his hands lay down his waist and before he could even retort, an onix springs from the underground, making his altaria leap. “wait for me.”[break][break]

the bird dragon lunges with steel wing into the creature, sending it back into the cavern walls before he hurls a pokeball.[break][break]

he picks up the capsule and returns to Sénon Game. “as i was saying, boys can kiss like cotton candy too. or even sweeter. maybe you just haven't found your match.” he ends with a wink.[break][break]
