Just when he thought he'd gathered enough water types; here he was again expanding the list.

From what he gathered, the Seafloor Cavern was about as obscure a hunting grounds as it got in Hoenn.

With a new addition to his growing Turtle Troop. It felt like a good time to get them all out and together at the same time.

() Chewtle;

hadn't won anywhere near enough battles to be given a name; he'd never even fought before. Today could have ended up being the end of that dry streak for him. As much as he loved nipping at his trainer, it was time he fought actual opponents of his own.

() Wartortle,

was a recent trade acquisition in exchange for a talented Seviper that he missed a little. Sénon hadn't put in enough work nor time with the Wartortle to know if she was an equal talent to the Seviper but she was beautiful and under his tutelage, she would be mighty.

the Tirtouga () Kiri,

was his oldest, his most experienced, his ultimate survivor. A gift from his mother and the very pkmn whose reliability and charm drove to claim one of each evolutionary line of turtle pkmn in world. In more than classification alone; she was the Prototurtle.

With her front and center he stayed alert for the first confrontation.

Having paid, along with several other travelers, for a trip to the Seafloor Cavern via a transport submarine vessel Rufio would find himself wandering away from the group's immediate arrival point sooner rather than later.

In this he would summon forth his Doublade, Zweihander for protection if need be for he was after Wild Pokemon of course. Hands resting in his hoodie pockets the ginger would pay no mind to his surroundings unless it involved Pokemon, leading to him wandering into the likes of Sénon Game and their....turtle gang?

He was oddly at peace here in his place so removed from the rest of the region, temperature differences aside it almost felt like being home again; being here was like being on the other side of the world.

It was his own little slice of peace and just when he felt like he was settling into it, someone had to come along and piss on it. ". . ."

A strange little ginger with less red hair and tattoos and more freckles and an impish nature rounded the bend. The turtle soup reference wasn't lost on him, nor the implications it made.

"You think your blades are sharp enough for that?" He stood square in opposition to this man he didn't know, ready to get into a thing, if there was a thing to get into.

Just then, the native pokémon stirred; if little red was here to do the same thing as himself there wouldn't be much of a problem. If not; that wouldn't be a problem either.

Seeing the movement of a shadow in the water Chewtle was sent after it. For a moment the surface of the water and all he could see below it seemed to still. Until all at once a goldeen burst from the waters, the Snapping PKMN holding a relentless grip on it with his teeth; JAW LOCK.

When he let go it laid on the ground for a moment, flopping in place and with no attack of its own. With all being fair in capture and conquest Chewtle was made by his trainer to take advantage. "BODY SLAM." Being smashed in to by the mischievous turtle's shell seemed to anger the goldeen as it finally retaliated; a focused stream of water lesser than a Hydro Pump hit Chewtle spinning it and flipping it in its shell like a car rammed by a truck.

When he immediately emerged from his shell, Chewtle looked around saw his trainer and began to coming at him for a bite.

Chewtle used JAWLOCK!
Chewtle used BODY SLAM!
Goldeen used WATER PULSE; Chewtle became confused!

It was annoying Chewtle was so easily shaken from his focus, but it wasn't surprising. "Kiri, ANCIENT POWER! Wartortle, SKULL BASH!" So much for letting the little guy fight on his own; Sénon's foot would hold him in place as he mindlessly scuttled towards his trainers ankles for a nibble.

Kiri used ANCIENT POWER!
Wartortle lowered her head...

Blasted by glittered rocks and surrounded by hostiles the Goldeen used Aqua Ring to begin healing itself and just as quickly bounced into the air coming down to land on Chewtle with its horn glowing dirty green.

Goldeen used AQUA RING!
Goldeen used MEGAHORN!

The horned attack knocked the toddler turtle into wall and when it emerged its tiny knees shook and it walked with no direction, its body language dizzy. "USE COUNTER!" needing an extra second or two to collect itself the Snapper ran down the fish with the stride of a tauros its own orange horn pigmented to a sickly green before it smashed into the goldeen viciously knocking it back into the water.

Chewtle was confused no more!
Chewtle used COUNTER!

Soon after, it floated to surface where a pokéball () hit it on the belly, to claim it for the ranger.

Crimsen attempted to capture Goldeen.

Huh?

Confused by the red haired guy's words Rufio would pause while squinting slightly, his gaze shifting to Zweihander his Doublade. Whatever the guy meant Rufio was indeed confident in his Pokemon, arguably being his most powerful one presently even. However before the ginger could even reply he'd find himself interrupted by a pair of Wild Pokemon appearing as well as the other guy diving straight into a capture attempt. Following suit he'd take up the larger, and in his mind, the more powerful Pokemon, being the Golem in nearby.

Zweihander, Sacred Sword! Don't stop until the living rock's down and out!

Almost hissing with speed the pair of sentient swords would zip forward while floating in the air. Though their Sacred Sword maneuver tended to be one of their less flashy attacks it nonetheless was elegant in the way that no movement was wasted, nothing fancy was done, it was purely strike after strike, each blow meant to be a battle ending hit on it's own. And with it's speed and type advantage Zweihander would manage to smack the Golem about until it fell onto it's stomach, wincing and groaning in defeat as a Poke Ball bounced off of it's rocky hide.

Geeze, that was a lot of over kill for a fish like Goldeen...Was it really worth it, like you're just wasting your time...I mean Seaking is still a useless Pokemon if you ask me.

Though it might've sounded like Rufio was defending Goldeen from violence it was actually far from the fact as he actually just saw certain Pokemon as useless and weak. One couldn't train their Pokemon if they sent them out against weak Pokemon after all, at least in Rufio's mind.

The next skirmish happened faster than any other.

Seeing a Rhyhorn trot by he sent Chewtle to intercept and distract it just long enough for Kiri and Wartortle to use the most powerful water-type moves they knew. "Kiri; HYDRO PUMP! Wartortle; AQUA TAIL!"

As both a water and ground type there no pokémon more weak to water than Rhyhorn, only some others as weak.

The wet tail battering and pressurized water cannons made the rocky beast crack into a wall of the cave where it slumped over to be claimed by a fresh pokéball.

Kiri used HYDRO PUMP; it's (double) super effective!
Wartortle used AQUA TAIL; it's (double) super effective!

Having mostly ignored the man until now, Sénon asked, walking over to pick up the ball after its expected 'PONG' chime. "Who are you?"

Crimsen attempted to capture Rhyhorn!

Rufio McGillis, future Pokemon Champion....

Not of the region, but the entire world!

I'll be changing the face of Pokemon combat in the future!

Snickering to himself in confidence the ginger would watch on as the man with darker red hair took on a wild Rhyorn next, leaving Rufio to wander off just a tad only to find a slug-like Pokemon slogging on by. Though he didn't know what it was, and while he wasn't interested in finding out, he figured by appearance alone some person would likely hop at the opportunity to trade for it or something as there was plenty of folk like that around the place.

Zweihander, Sacred Sword, crush it with the flat of your blades!

Hissing into action with swift movements the Doublade would begin to bat around the Gastrodon until finishing it off with a crushing hammer blow from the bottom of their hilt allowing Rufio to lob another Poke Ball for his wild hunting efforts.

They'd started off on a strange footing and Sénon couldn't say he liked the other guy's choice in tattoo's but art was subjective and an expression of self. He seemed alright after exchanging a few words and his ambitions were sure as hell relatable.

He extended his hand in a shake. "Sénon Game; Cinnabar Island, Kanto."

He didn't stray from looking the other man in the eyes. "Welcome to the hunt Rufio."

Moving quickly as he saw horsea swimming in the cold stream he gave word to the Kanto water starter to attack up close while Kiri used a distance move to knock the horsea out of the stream. "Wartortle use SKULL BASH! ...Kiri... use SMACK DOWN now!" Quick to use her game face she had to shoot rocks at a flying type the Prototurtle kept her gameface shooting a rock at the seahorse, hitting it out of the stream just in time for Wartortle to jump the stream and spear it head first into a wall.

Beautiful as she was Wartortle was no stranger to hitting hard and the swirly-eyed seahorse passed out in the hole gave no indicated she held back at all.

Wartortle lowered her head!
Kiri used SMACK DOWN!
Wartortle used SKULL BASH!

Picking up the horsea to gently inspect its body Sénon was glad to see the 1-2 rock & skull combo from his water types didn't seem to break any bones in the Dragon Pokémon's body. It was tougher than it looked but not much tougher given it was breathing but not conscious. "Sorry about the rough treatment little one guy, well get you a pokémon center as soon as we're done here."

Touching the Premier Ball's activation button against its body the Horsea was made into light as the Premier Ball was sat upon the ground to process the capture.

Crimsen attempted to capture Horsea!

While both seemed to warm up to one another, however little, Rufio nonetheless wasn't the sentimental type and as such he'd keep his hands in his front pockets.

Uhh...Not my kind of bag, Sénon....Let's just keep pushing on through.

As they pressed on the other ginger would seek out a wild Horsea, with Rufio already having his own in the form of Triton he'd veer off while eventually running into a....Chewtle.

Coming to see the strength of his temporary ally's own turtle, Rufio would seek out to obtain his own then.

Use Sacred Sword to knock it into the air and juggle it there with Aerial Ace!

Doing as it was told the pair of swords would zip forward, "uppercutting" the turtle into the air. However the latter proved defiant, slamming it's head down into the swords as it sailed upwards, causing Zweihander to hit the ground before she could hover back into the air. Nonetheless the pair of swords would continue on, flying directly into the Chewtle with varying swift acrobatic strikes until it was sent flying into the water nearby, floating unconsciously.

Mine!

Chucking a Poke Ball after the downed turtle Rufio would just wait for the....
