There was very little research on each individual island dotting the archipelago of Route 128. Having found a day to himself, Remiel Calcifet had chosen to explore it. Upon his speedy Dragonite, Ferris, the man jumped from island to island.[break][break]

Each of them shared similar ecosystems. Each seemed rather unassuming. But he wasn't one to take things at face value.[break]

One of the islands, no larger than 1000 square feet in diameter, housed an oddity: a Voltorb stranded out in the middle of the Hoennian ocean. It rolled around its territory in circles, determined to get somewhere... yet getting nowhere at all. If it sensed the presence of the Dragonite and its rider encircling overhead, it certainly offered no hint as to the fact.[break][break]

Sensing a bit of madness in this one, and not willing to risk being killed in a Voltorb's explosion for it, Remiel gently kicked his heels against Ferris' side and steered his partner elsewhere.[break]

Chinchou occupied the waters of a beautiful cove on another island. They seemed to be dancing around each other slowly near the surface, their bulbs flickering with varying intensities as the water they swam in rippled with electricity. One foolish Wingull nearby tried to drink from this water. It was immediately punished with a zap before it flew away in a noisy hubbub.[break][break]

Amused, but hardly interested, Remiel guided Ferris to the next island ahead.[break]

Ferris landed next on an island large enough to house a spire-like formation of rock. Having noticed the entrance to a cave from up above, Remiel had steered his Dragonite downward to investigate it. He hopped off his dragon steed and pulled out a flashlight before switching it on, illuminating the inside of this small but likely never explored cavern.[break][break]

What appeared to be just another rock suddenly opened up to reveal a Cloyster looking back at him. Its curious eyes told Remiel that it had never met a human before. Since it was stationary, casting a ball and catching it was easy enough.[break]
