Every crunch of leaves with each step seemed to be mimicked with another just meters behind him, and only a half second off. Whenever Remiel turned to see who was following him, however, he saw nothing. Not even a single trace of the phantom footstep that followed his own. He narrowed his eyes into the deep dark behind him for a moment, trying to discern shapes in the seemingly endless territory of misty black.[break][break]

When he suddenly heard the thwang of bow, followed by a sharp shriek, he smiled. Then he moved on, no longer haunted by a trickster in the night.[break]

The little cat YAWNED as it sat in the middle of the misty route, calmly licking its paw as if the presence of the approaching human didn't disturb it one bit. In fact, it likely didn't. Especially when said human began to yawn himself, soon enough dragging his feet as he felt Morpheus' sleeping touch.[break][break]

A sudden STORM OF LEAVES from the sidelines was enough to wake him back up, however. And, this time, the cat took notice. Not one to be stalked, the Purrloin darted off into the woods.[break]

In the misty depths of the forest, there was a bundle of roots and thorns at the center of a clearing. The grass surrounding this strange patch was dark and barren, veins of tainted soil visible through the dying blades. Upon closer inspection, tatters of cloth littered this clearing all around. Withered remnants; long forgotten.[break][break]

Remiel sighed at the sight of it. He turned over his shoulder to see a Phantump wandering in the forest afar. Every moan it made sounded more and more like 'mom'.[break]

Remiel didn't mind a good prank every now and again. But this PRANKSTER practiced the crudest, most childish 'pranks' he could think of. Throwing acorns at him then retreating into the thick fog was hardly what he would call a good 'prank'. But, just when it seemed like the TORMENT would never end, a cat's screech pierced the air and was silenced almost as quickly.[break][break]

Remiel breathed a sigh of relief and moved on.[break]

A little MAGICIAN practiced her spells deep in the misty grove. She stood at the center of a faerie circle, otherwise known as a naturally occurring ring of mushrooms, and somehow making the stars blink with a WISH. Remiel watched from afar for a moment. He couldn't understand it. Not really. But he had appreciation for it nonetheless.[break][break]

Bothering the Fennekin with his presence (or combat) seemed rude. So he moved on.[break]

The sock puppet appeared, suddenly, out of a burst of PHANTOM FORCE in the middle of the trail. Remiel had to abruptly stop just to keep himself from running into it. It did not, however, care about his presence in the slightest. No, instead, it looked around frantically with its large eyes. It was being hunted.[break][break]

Before it could give its hunter the chance to strike, the Shuppet would disappear in yet another shadowy portal. Remiel stopped to look around and listen... but when he heard nothing else, the young royal moved on.[break]

Before long, the blue-eyed royal stumbled upon another wayward tree stump. Its woeful moans and the creaking of its wooden head preceded Remiel's arrival on the scene. It was then that he realized it had somehow managed to wedge one of its antlers between a v-shaped tree along the route.[break][break]

Deciding he could spare a moment to help, the ambassador moved to the other side of the tree and grabbed the small ghost by these antlers. With a twist and a push, it was free to continue roaming around the safari zone with its head intact.[break]
