If there was anything that Rex was grateful for, the brainy doctors at least let him keep One's Pokeball on hand, though he "wasn't to release it under any circumstances". Somewhere nearby, he could hear some thing beeping...his Haxorus, he couldn't even remember which one it was, but he remembered it got blasted during battle. They put it near him so that he knew it was ok...he wasn't sure why, the beeping just irritated him. [break][break]

His irritation somehow found its way back to him, like it always did. Why was he laid up like this!? Well, they did see you puke during that fucking disaster. [break][break]

Rex slumped down in his rest, everything in him telling him to get up, leave. The tugging of bandages and healing wounds stopped him...he didn't want to see his own blood on white sheets, then he'd be sure to throw up again and they'd think there was something wrong with him. So he stewed, and wondered if anything exciting would happen this day.

valerio cannot imagine the chaos that has gone in mauville and the situation he will be under in if he manages to get back on time. the only reason why he's separated from his crowd is because he needed to secure the dragons in meteor falls from the incoming alien invasion. the dragons of the cavern has became his folks and he knew if there was a way he had to do something to save them. he thought being caught up by the megalopolans in meteor falls was indeed a bad idea, but the casualties of mauville makes him want to rethink his judgment.[break][break]

he returns to the headquarters at the sight of trainers and pokémons alike seeking treatment at the med bay. valerio watches with sympathy as he writhes in the pain of others. of course, there are also a lot of souls who are already beyond saving. if there is anything that is louder than the wails of those who are fortunate enough to suffer the ordeal of having to endure broken bones and burnt up flesh, it may be the silence that comes from those who cannot hurt anymore.[break][break]

he enters the busy room with narrowed eyes, looking for familiar faces among the crowd. the one that catches him is the sight of the boy in bloodied bandages.[break][break]

“hah, i knew you'd pull through, li'l guy.” valerio tousles Rex Drago's hair, greeting him with an exhausted smile.[break][break]

With the grotesque background sounds of the hurting and dying, Rex didn't actually notice Valerio approaching, having pulled up what thin sheets he had in some bid to knock himself back into unconsciousness. The hand suddenly settled on his head started a squawking yell out of him, moments before he noticed the friendly face, "Geez. You warn a guy before doing that shit?" He grumbled in faux anger, carefully slithering out of his covers as if the movement would cover up the fact he had flinched away from the touch. [break][break]

"And I'm a fighter, 'course I pulled through." He smirked, able to build up his own confidence from the slightest words, "Where the hell were you? Super secret mission? Spy? Somethin'?" He noted in the back of his mind that Valerio wasn't laid up like him...had to be a secret mission or something. Infiltration or other kinds of cool shit that didn't end with you about to pass out when you won. [break][break]

The very presence of Valeriowas like a balm for his racing thoughts, now he could think about anything but the fact that godforsaken beeping was probably going to continue for the next few days!

the redhead's hand scrubs a little harder in an effort to tease the guy from being irritated. “why'd you ask? you're mad you didn't get the chance to slip from the admins when you got the chance, no?”[break][break]

valerio mouths into the togepi tucked asleep in his baby carrier who seemingly knows what to do at the situation. a wave of her fingers rain life dew upon Rex Drago. it is not enough to heal all his injuries but it might be all that he needs to relinquish him from the pain.[break][break]

“got caught up in meteor falls. turns out they're not just attacking in lilycove. what about mauville? i thought the place's supposed to be our last stand?” the question comes out as a reiteration. he doesn't know if it's a good decision to keep him awake when rex is supposed to be resting but at least he's assured that by keeping him talking, he's still alive.[break][break]

Rex's scowl, not at all serious, faded as the Life Dew eased some of his pains, drawing a confused "What're you doing?" from the man. It was appreciated help, but he couldn't help but feel his tone rise in confusion, like it was completely unprecedented that the man would help for no reason. [break][break]

"Yeah, I don't think I was supposed to be out there." Rex admitted sheepishly, "It was-well, it was just there was these supplies coming that got stuck." The man shrugged, "I just heard starving was a really bad way to go, so I wanted to help...didn't think we'd kick their asses hard enough to win. Not sure I even did much out there." At this moment was pretty much the only time Rex would admit to such a thing, both that he didn't think they'd win and that he wasn't certain what his contribution had even been.

the redhead goes towards the empty chair by rex's compartment, sitting before scooting back into the bandanged boy. “you did much to survive it.”[break][break]

he finds himself reflecting about his experiences in the meteor falls, too. not much rockets that he knows are there and there's really no standard he is trying to measure himself with his contribution. in the end, the dragon sanctuary still stands on its ground and it is all that matters.[break][break]

Rex's wounds now just a little less restricting, he pushed himself up to sit a little taller. He did do a lot, didn't he? Even if all he could definitely remember was One ripping a monster's arm off and throwing up in the grass some time in the middle. [break][break]

Oh, also the kaiju. [break][break]

"I...don't know? Something definitely blew up, though." The power plant's explosion had been spectacular, but then the woman just up and disappeared for a long time! "And then this monster appeared!" His hands waved in desperate pantomime, "It was-it was bigger than a mountain!" It was quite possible he wasn't exaggerating as he usually did, that thing could have stepped on him and it wouldn't even notice, "I'm gonna need to ask her where she was while we were busy dealing with it! Could have used Mecha-Tyranitar or something..." A jokey tone entered his voice at the end, not truly angry about it. At least since she wasn't there during that fight (as far as he knew), he could proudly say, "One an' I helped beat it!"

“bigger than a mountain?” valerio clarifies, wondering if it is really the case then could he have seen it if he is not so focused in his own predicament in the meteor falls? but there is a shit ton of crazy after the war that it is hard not to believe what he is telling anyway.[break][break]

he leans back on the chair to produce something from his pocket. he retrieves a box of cigarette, but is folded enough to know that the sticks are also worn out. he breathes out disappointment.[break][break]

with the energy to be proud of himself, valerio is more confident that the guy is truly doing fine than what he appears to be.[break][break]

Rex opened his hands, waving widely, "It was crazy! Didn't matter where you were, it could zap ya!" Hd pointed to the Haxorus resting nearby, all kinds of machinery hooked up to her, though her vitals seemed stable at the moment, "She got zapped by it...thought she died, but I guess she's too stubborn for that." A spark of fondness entered his voice, a step away from his usual apathy for any Pokemon but his prehistoric monsters. [break][break]

The man narrowed his eyes at the cigarette box Valerio took out, wondering just how much trouble he'd get into if he asked for one of his own here. Too much, he decided in that instant. They'd probably keep him here for a month just to spite him if he did that. [break][break]

"Well, I-I'm not perfect, ya know?" He scratched at the bandages, even with the smile on his face, his voice wasn't recovering into its confident tone, "One crashed, he got a little tired." He wouldn't tell that it was his own distress that panicked the Pokemon to the ground, his fear driving them down like a sitting duck...it was embarrassing..."The rest, well, there were attacks everywhere. Must have been hit or something." [break][break]

"What about you?" He asked genuinely. "Did you get hurt?" A stupid question, he was sure everyone got hurt, but he wanted to know!

a brief laughter is released from his mouth at rex's confesion. in reality, however, not everyone is perfect, right?[break][break]

valerio finally lights his worn out stick, puffing out smoke in rex's compartment. he tries to situate his chair with his back facing the corridor, trying to hide his vice behind is bulky figure. the smoke will betray him eventually.[break][break]

“i did, but this little guy saved me.” his eyes motion to the sleeping togepi in her carrier.[break][break]

“i've also been zapped—not by the electric monster you're saying—but by the megalopolan general in the meteor falls.” it seems team meteor falls is not raising the white flag in the sense of alien kaijus. “she also has a giantess by her stead. it has blasters and it uses grass-type moves. weird.”[break][break]

Somehow it was relieving to know that he wasn't the only one that got wounded in a bad way. A truly selfish thought, but he didn't want to feel like he was the only one messing things up....he was still glad that Valerio seemed totally fine though. He didn't want him to actually get hurt, after all. [break][break]

He paled slightly at the mention of yet another giant monster, having thought that that particular brand of scary wasn't present all throughout the alien forces, "Do you think we beat them? Like, for real and...and those things won't be coming back?" Perhaps it was naive to never want to see them again. Rocket would definitely love the firepower of the alien creatures, Rex just wanted to never personally be involved. If he could stick to the regular monsters, that'd be great.

“I saw a few of them going back here, trying to hide and escape from the mess they've made.”

It is Smohke's face that Valerio visibly remembers up to this point. He likes to think the general must have regretted the decisions she made during the invasion, especially after what happened to her when the strange creature emancipated from the meteorite they were harvesting.

“I suppose we'll be hanging with them for a little while until they're fully purged.”

But he trusts not the League to be able to handle such things. Hoennians know their reputation with handling such affairs. And he may not know it yet, but it turns out even when he failed to capture the Megalopolan general in his area of responsibility, his teammates managed to get those who are in the other battlefronts.

A grimace started across Rex's face, accompanied by a suffering groan, "Ugh, so I might see them again? Just my damn luck." How any of them survived all that, he didn't know. Maybe they were like bugs, and no matter how many you crushed, there was always more. He could only hope they kept to themselves and never showed their faces around him. [break][break]

"Why can't we just "purge" them now? We can't be suddenly moral, can we?" He snickered, shifting to better sit up slightly...it hurt, but it felt good to be able to move.

He breaths in the nicotine from his cigarette before he realizes the stick is to worn out to properly give his body the warmth it needs, so he throws it on the floor and steps on the ash while his arms cross as he speaks.

“And I assume it's in our best interest to keep them running around. I figure Declan may even want to take advantage of this situation to push some of our agenda.”
