Gavin seems momentarily surprised by Emma Wolfe's offer before his expression softens into a warm gratitude. His thumb glides gently over the back of her hand, a hum rising in his throat.

"If you could," he acquiesces, with a dip of his head. "Rocket has broken him, in the ways that it does. I fear others might take advantage of his... eagerness to please."

What was it that Chu-e Choi had said of jayden cross? Empty as a doll, when it comes to orders.

"You're good with the grunts," he murmurs approvingly. "With their training. Rocket needs that, I think. You are more than your fangs and claws, my Wolfe." His breath tickles her neck as he laughs and leans in to press his lips against her pulse.

Despite Gavin's best intentions and worries, Emma can't help but feel a twinge of concern - not for Jayden's safety, but for Gavin's bleeding heart. The broken did not belong in Rocket, only the strong and dedicated. Weakness was dangerous, and Rocket would eagerly seek that out.[break][break]

But she chooses not to say anything, and instead lets him speak. For now, there is no harm in his request and she was more than capable of busting heads who attempted to abuse the boy.[break][break]

There is a breathlessness to the way she questions him - and although it could be perceived as a jest, it isn't. But with his lips brushing her skin and the heat that rises from his closeness, it could be lost in translation.[break][break]

His lips ghost against the crook of her neck as he pulls back to meet her eyes, his pupils dark with desire but burning with an intensity that has nothing to do with lust and everything to do with love.

"Of course you are." The way he says it, it's clear he's never had a doubt.

He allows her to pull him close, left breathless as she seals her words with a kiss. Outside, ash drifts like falling snow, and the night passes indifferent to their lovers embrace. Not until the sun threatens the horizon and Gavin's fingertips begin to prune from the water does he finally rise and offer Emma Wolfe a hand to help her up.

"Happy New Years, love," he murmurs, and nips playfully at her neck before departing to the dressing room.
