For once, Alexei wasn’t even working—the guise of work, he’d passed on to some of the other staffers who didn’t mind putting in some extra hours for a little extra pay.

Of course he was pretty generous with paying those who wanted overtime, and—

He could hear the noise from outside, and even the brown-haired secretary was right to call the pinkette down, trying to explain that his boss wasn’t exactly in the biggest of moods to be disturbed—

“W—what?” he mumbled, muffled. The chair that had him in it wasn’t facing the door, and he could hear his secretary trying to call the pinkette down since he didn’t want to be disturbed, and—

“Sir, I’m really sorry! She just came bursting in!” he heard the harassed-sounding young man apologize from somewhere, and he sighed. Deigning to show his face just this once, the chair swiveled around to reveal an Alexei that was holding a well-used face towel. Handkerchiefs were long past him.

“Sorry, but—can you go back to the front desk and let nobody else in for a few hours?” he sniffled in the secretary’s direction, who let out an exasperated look of defeat behind the pinkette before closing the door behind him.

“What the fuck—” were the first coherent words out of his mouth once he’d noticed the video playing of that—of that incident. Several months ago.

Well, when it came to being a drag queen, there were always ways to bounce back. He just—didn’t want to expose those secrets yet. It was easy enough to change identities and pick up a new name, forego the other.

Not for Selena, though.

“Hackers? Me? I… I don’t personally know any, but I know someone who can hook us up with a white hat,” he remarked. Hey, just because he wasn’t that technologically inclined didn’t mean he didn’t know terminology here and there.

“…you want me to call Tom so I can get him to give us the hacker’s details to reverse this?” he suggested. It was… admittedly a bit more drastic, but if they had to sweep this under the rug this was the best option that he could muster up at the time.

“You know what can solve this problem?” Alexei mused from out of nowhere, still dabbing at his eyes before reaching for a half-opened box of salted caramel-filled chocolates and munching on a few pieces, offering the pinkette some should she want.

“…we need to have a Pokémon on us that’s capable of sabotaging other electronics. Don’t you think?” he suggested. Even if it brought him close to a Rotom (and those were partially Ghost-type), it was a potential suggestion…

“…then again, drag queens change their identities only when absolutely needed. I can manage this. So… should I contact Tom and ask for the hacker’s services if they can like, find out who spread this? Reverse-engineer this shit?” he offered a few moments later after he’d downed several of the chocolates.

First off, he blinked when she said his friend’s name without batting an eyelash, second—

“You—you know who I’m talking about, right?” he blinked around a mouthful of the salted sweet. “The exact same Thomas Benoit?” he added a few moments later as he crammed another few pieces into his mouth before reaching for his phone that he’d left on the desk somewhere.

Strewn with candy wrappings, it was easy enough to find, sticking out from underneath some forgotten papers. At the sight of the wallpaper on the home screen, he sighed.

“Shit. I should really change that,” he muttered quietly as he unlocked the device and quickly typed out a message.

“Hopefully he’s awake. Who knows if he’s sleeping or just drinking the day away.”

Once he was done, he opened the conversation between himself and the other—wow, the last message they’d shared was over… shit.

That was fucking old.

‘Are you awake? If you are, kinda need your help. You know that hacker you told me about, right? The white-hat? We’re gonna need some… favors. Not one, but several—it’s kind of… well, we kind of need to find something. No, make that someone. Probably several someones, from the look of things.’

And off the message was sent to Thomas Benoit. Fingers crossed hoping the other man was awake.

More of the salted caramel chocolates disappeared as he watched Selena thinking—for a few moments, he thought he felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up for a few moments.

“Are you doing that—” he remarked as he placed the device down while waiting for the other man to answer. Either way…

“You know… I think… we should be wary about whatever else goes down in the future. Like, keep an eye out for someone—anyone—who would try to take a video… hence why my suggestion to look for a Rotom, if you don’t have one already,” he reiterated.

Ah, shit, he’d run out of chocolate. Sighing, he then searched the desk and opened one of the drawers, revealing his stash of sweets… and pulling out a jar of trail mix. Oh well.

“Another thing I can think of is disguises… but then again…” he mused as he had some of the trail mix.

“…we never did see that weird-ass guy. You know? The one who was leading the charge down at Lilycove. Don’t you find it strange?” he quipped. “The only thing I know is that the one at Meteor Falls was captured by one of our own, thank fuck, but who’s keeping an eye on wherever they’re locked up?”

It was really strange, indeed.
