She has received several accolades for her investigative journalism alone and has been at every newspapers' pages, being both the reporter and the one reported. As such, people know things about her personal life. She is the youngest of the three Desmarais sisters of Kalos who pursued an unexpected career for a family of established winemakers. Her family has a private island in Alola. At such a young age, she has traveled to several regions across the globe due to her family's business but went back to establish her own name as a journalist some time in the near past. Selena has a degree in journalism by 18 years old, making her one of the youngest people to develop a career in the media. She knows archery as it has been a staple leisure activity in the Desmarais household. Her reputation strikes fear among many media corporations, prompting her to establish a freelance career, which eventually translated to the Vantage. She often use her trainer persona to go undercover, scooping for more information from various groups she encountered with in order to work on her exposé. Despite her reputation as a fierce reporter, she is also known as a determined pokémon trainer. She collected gym badges from other regions before but she never made it to the League. A professor in Kalos looks after her pokémons, especially the ones she got from other regions. This credential landed her a spot as one of Hoenn's gym leaders. The League Press Conference left a dent in her career as accusations about her involvement in the Littleroot flooded her and Vantage. Selena immediately disappeared after the Oldale Festival, leaving behind her avatarship with Tapu Koko. The Kalosian left Vantage under Billi Marsh. Selena returns. Her gym is located inside the Vantage headquarters, the media company she also owns. JOURNALIST[break][break]Selena's reputation as a reporter precedes her, as her previous articles tackled corruption within the leagues of other regions which could threaten the integrity of Hoenn's council. However, she could be considered an asset in investigating rocket-related news, considering the amount of intelligence she has gathered so far. Her works include reportage that pars with HNN and gathering intelligence for her undercover investigations. PHILANTROPHIST[break][break]In light of the incident at Mt. Pyre, Selena urged her sisters to fund the up-and-coming researchers of Hoenn through the Desmarais Foundation. Eventually, she would fund the initiative herself as part of the Vantage's social responsility. AVATAR[break][break]The league meeting on September 2020 presents an opportunity for Selena to be chosen as Tapu Koko’s avatar. This means, all of the members of the organization’s upper echelons know she is a representative of a legendary pokémon. This meant several rocket members of the old who started even before SILAS BLACKWELL knew her very well. A lot of things happened in-between the Johto incidents and Selena's arrival in Hoenn, thereby possibly cutting the thread of knowledge of her presence to the newer rocket recruits. She is very well acquainted with alec foster and Alexei Ivanov , both of which are gym leaders she met even before she got selected for her current position. After the Littleroot incident, Selena’s interview with Kaida Adachi helps her understand her more and consider a valuable acquaintance and ally. She is developing an interest with maverick noah ryder but is too occupied to explore the depths of her feelings for the person. She considers Annie Mei her friend, too, despite the initial hostility they had for each other. Selena despises arthur finnian vanderbilt so much due to their past but tries to act civil in front of him. Selena believes Team Rocket is still alive and operating, beneath the shadows of secrecy and legality. She’s been trying to tie recent incidences with their presence.
