THERE IS NO TELLING WHEN ROCKET FINALLY DISCOVERS what it is looking for, but the organization relies on skilled and timeless trainers like Selena to handle tasks some of the grunts cannot just do alone. She is hired as a PR Strategist, but it does not mean she cannot be a muscle the organization needs to thrive.

"Lars Anderson. Head Ranger." Selena speaks with a hunter's tone that sounds like it has finally met its prey. After two years of being out of the region, there is no doubt Laurence Anderson will not recognize her voice, especially when there is not much time she can count on her hand that they have intimately rubbed elbows. Especially with the cloak that covers most of her face, she is confident that the officer will not recognize her. "Sorry, sir, but you shall not pass."

The voice comes from a top part from the cavern's entrance. In-front of her hovers the ultra beast, Akhlys, waiting for its opportunity to strike.

He hated getting lost.

Of all the places, why did it have to be out here of all things?!

He could feel the itch of his ‘gills’ behind his ears, but chose not to pay it any attention because he knew that the damned things would disappear the moment he got the fuck out of this place…

But he wasn’t going to leave without at least attempting to turn this entire place upside-down looking for Elinor Anderson, because what a bad time for them to get separated!

Just as he was about to enter… huh.

“And why is that,” he began quietly, warily reaching for a Pokéball in his pocket in case shit got nasty and cranked up to eleven. Great…

"Why?" Selena chuckles as she jumps from the elevated part of the cavern entrance before reaching the ground, Akhlys swooping into a position that screams a dying desire for battle. "Because I said so."

The rocket executive gets a piece of SCATTER BANG from her satchel and hurls it at a nearby tree. A flock of zubats awakens from disturbance and in annoyance begins attacking Laurence Anderson . The UB Sting does not waste its time as well, taking advantage of such distraction to send the head ranger his way a scorching HEAT WAVE.

"There's no need for the League to interfere with our affairs. Chaos will always find a way to succeed, at the end of the day."

Okay, one thing—this was bad.

That was definitely the grown-up version of the little kid that he had—and unfortunately, his Poipole was still, well, that, a Poipole because he had absolutely no clue on how to raise the danged thing!

“You… sound familiar,” he growled, reaching into his pocket before the loud, popping noise went off and sent a swarm of… ugh, Zubat—right at him.

He decided to keep his suspicions quiet about this, and let them unfold as this went on. The longer the Zubat began swarming around him, the more those teeth looked absolutely unappetizing and a few moments later an explosion of small icicle-shaped shards burst from him without him even conjuring up a flicker of power.

Whoops.

Get those bats away from me! he screamed in the back of his head—his ears were still ringing from the loud noise that had shaken the entire area. Okay, time for plan B.

One Heavy Ball later, and Ro the Metagross emerged, letting out a grating noise at the sudden… intrusion of what he witnessed. One beady red eye glared at the Nagadaniels (yes, that is intentional) before folding all four legs in.

The good thing was that the shining silver beast had a better move set as compared to the last time he’d actually used him in battle, and so…

“Not if I have anything to say about that.”

"What could you have possible said in this situation, then?" Akhlys returns to her side, waiting for its trainer's command. Selena is aware this could have put them at a disadvantage, having been fully aware of type advantages and all. The good thing, at least, is that Selena thought her Pokemons to be holistic in battles, to train what not just what they're good at but also what they can use against disadvantages. "Don't think for a second I will just let you pass by easily."

From her pocket, Selena lifts sceptile's pokeball, summoning the grass-type lizard into the battlefield. On the other hand, she reveals the sceptilite, glittering in verdant greatness in which Ascalabus mimics, growing in size as it mega-evolves and transforms.

"Be glad I am not underestimating you, Laurence Anderson . I know the extent of your full power. Now, show me what you got."

He idly wondered—how many times could he use Mega Evolution down here?

He’d already had to bust out his Lucario’s chops, however faced with a Sceptile that had the absolute nerve to mega evolve right in front of him, he wondered what the best—and then, it hit him.

Aha, he thought as he then pulled out a Safari Ball and threw out—

Instead of Gareth the Gallade, though, it was Lynette the Gardevoir—however he wasn’t going to have any less considering what was facing him down. An evolved kid and a Mega Sceptile.

“Two on two it is, then,” he breathed as this time—instead of using his go-to mega evolution, the bright light of Mega Evolution came from his Gardevoir as her shiny form revealed not a wedding dress, but a—

“Funeral dress,” he muttered quietly as she took to the stage, staring down the Negadaniels before the silver Metagross turned his attention to the Mega Sceptile.

A few seconds after, Laurence Anderson summons his own mega. The head ranger's strategy is simple: to play with advantageous matchups for Selena's pokemons. But he would not have known it is actually Selena behind the cloak that so carefully hides her identity, and he could not have known that it was the psychic-type specialist that he is going against right now.

Laurence Anderson's pokemons hover as they are summoned, the head ranger taking a defensive stance in this situation. Selena has no time to waste: she knows the mega-evolution will not lost for too long. "Sceptile, rock the earth! Sting, follow suit!"

It is a good thing her team knows what they are doing. Both of her pokemons run in opposite directions towards their opponents: Ascalabus's bulkier figure makes it easier to send tremors down the ground, BULLDOZING against his target opponents. Behind the wave of rocks and garvel, Akhlys's SLUDGE WAVE crawls toward the mega gardevoir.

While her partners keep his team distracted, Selena sneakily hurls a POISON BARB towards Laurence Anderson.

They needed no further instruction—with the Metagross using Magnet Rise to levitate off the ground, before the Gardevoir laid down a Psychic Terrain.

While the setting up was going to kill him, he knew that they had to hold the ground—and while the Bulldoze hit the mega-evolved Gardevoir, the Metagross moved in and made to block the incoming Sludge Wave, bless his part-Steel typing for this.

At least there was no chance of getting hit with the poison, even though one of the two on his side of the field had taken some damage.

A grating warning noise was all he would get from Ro as a sneak attack—oh, come on, really?

“Typical,” he grumbled. Before he could do anything else, a sudden ‘shield’ of icicles formed in mid-air before shooting out towards the incoming barbs, an attempt to deflect or at the very least scatter them away from where his Pokémon were on the side of the field!
