Was it confidence...or just over compensation? Well. Billi would say he had confidence in all his pokemon to battle whoever came along to try and challenge him for his badge. Not that he enjoyed battles because he really didn’t think they were all that fun, and often concerned him for the well being of the pokemon. But alas pokemon enjoyed a good strong battle, and his were no different.[break][break]

Standing at the train station as the sun set above them, shimmering in raws and hues of pink from the broken ceiling above. “Welcome to Petalburg! And my gym! Sorry for the chaos! It’s been busy!” he apologized for the lengthy wait on some challenges, considering the city thought they were….well...they thought Billi incapable, even if the government saw differently in the Lilycove Raid.[break][break]

“SO! You get to take your pick of the bugs you see here! Just make sure they match up to the same maturity of your own. Afterall we don’t want adults curb stomping kids!” he laughed.

Standing before within the train station, Hendrix’s left brow slightly arches upwards as he stares at the brawny-looking blonde in front of him. There’s a bit of trepidation and disappointment as his eyes scan around – his mind left wondering how the man’s gym can actually function without proper TLC.

”Right…” his voice trailing off with a tinge of disconcertment.

The budding Gym Leader’s carefree nature puts him in an odd position with his offer to choose his contesting pokemon. Hendrix’s understanding of Gyms seem uprooted and flipped but he says nothing, instead staring at the assortment of Bug-type pokemon on the table.

Nodding and making his decision, the ex-Interpol officer finally speaks out. ”How about we go with these then?” Hendrix extends a finger, pointing over to the Scyther, Leavanny, and Orbeetle.

Having made his selection, Hendrix pulls out 3 pokeballs from his belt and gently under tosses them out. With a loud and simultaneous pop from all three pokeballs, his team for the Gym Battle is released as they stand and float about.

Billi watched as the others stood there, staring with a judginess behind his eye, but Billi didn’t really care. To be honest there were no expectations from anyone besides being creative! Have fun! And just enjoy yourself! There was no way Billi could do that to people. After all Petalburg had very kind people from all walks of life, and hadn’t had a gym leader for some time.[break][break]

A spark of hope was what he wanted, but a battle was the default that was for sure! The other had selected Billi’s pokemon, and he nodded. “Oh fun!” he nodded whistling to his pokemon, who all slowly made their way back. As the bugs moved to Billi’s side he watched as the other choose his. “Oh their big boys!” he grinned and allowed the space between them.[break][break]

“So no structural damage to the building itself. Everything inside is fine. Moves like hyper beam and stuff will have to take this battle outside unless you’re confident in your pokemon other than that! Have fun!” the blonde allowed his little pokemon to remain standing by him. The Buzzer went off and the battle had begun! Leavany Swiftly moved to X-Scissor, powered up by it’s swarm ability, while the Dottlier set up an eerie, off putting light show creating a lightscreen, that protected the party. Syther quickly moved to the sky trying to slash the skarmory before it could get an advantage.

The Gym Leader is quick in having his pokemon attack. ”Steelwing, start it up!” he commands. The Skarmory lets out a massive screech as it uses its sturdy body to deflect the Scyther’s attack, flinging itself into the air with a single flap as it grasps onto the Incineroar’s shoulders.

The Doublade quickly hovers over to the Incineroar, letting the fiery tiger grab onto its grips while keeping its sashes away to avoid harming its wielder.

Pulling the Incineroar’s hands with its body, the Doublade parries the Leavanny’s X-Scissor with an Aerial Ace, giving the Skarmory enough time to shed some of its steely feathers with Autotomize.

Taking off in great speed with the armed Incineroar, the Skarmory uses its greater speed to hover above as the Incineroar’s fiery belt ignites into greater flame, unleashing a Flamethrower from above. The Skarmory is smart enough to put some distance between them and the floor as its enough to inflict damage on the bug-type pokemon and not the building itself.

A path of fire blew through the leavany with great strength, though it’s sharp hands remained shining in strength. “Leeeeavvvvvannnyyy” it quickly retreated beside the Dottler, which began blinking in confusing patters, releasing psychic energy causing the room to turn and twist, double vision to take effect on the area, hitting pokemon with Confusion to deter their aim.[break][break]

Mixing in with the confusion, scyther quickly used Double Team, creating quick multiples of itself, hiding in the fray hoping the enemy would hit each other then him. A leaf storm arose as they obscured more view from the foe, trying to capitalize on the confusion.

The tall redhead quietly analyzing and assessing the situation, assertively calls out to the flying trio. ”Lyger, air drop!”

Hearing its trainer’s command, the Incineroar lets out an aggressive growl, nudging its shoulders against the Skarmory’s talons. It releases, dropping the fiery tiger down as it focuses its fall downwards towards the Dottler – its psychic powers unable to distort or confuse it due to its typing.

Crossing its arms and ignoring the other opposition, it slams down with a powerful CROSS CHOP while combining its attack with the Doublade in its hands to simultaneously strike it with an AERIAL ACE

The Skarmory, finding it hard to maintain its flight due to the Dottler’s confusion, begins its descent, scattering caltrops from its wing in the process throughout the ground as it leaves dangerous SPIKES on the ground to make it harder for the bugs to retaliate.

SPLAT well that’s what would happen if the flashy bug was a normal bug, but hey, it was K.Oed fast. Not that middle staged bug pokemon were all that powerful. Actually they were more designed for self defense then they were in battle but it’d be alright. Quickly the durant grabbed it and moved it off the battlefield. Caltropes made it hard to move, but Leavany used it’s silks to throw them at the fighters behind them, as the sytcher moved into quickly airslash while the sytcher had it’s back turned.

Lyger the Incineroar spins one half of the Doublade into a back grip while releasing the other. Understanding the flaming tiger’s intention, the Doublade extends its ribbon, latching to the 2nd sword’s. The Incineroar passes a cocky grin as it begins to spin the blade, using it to deflect the caltrops flung its way.

Momentarily distracted by the incoming projectiles gives the Scyther enough time to strike the Incineroar from behind as a blade of wind cuts into its back.

The Incineroar isn’t alone in combat though, as the Skarmory suddenly sweeps down on the Leavanny, slamming its steely wing against with a powerful BRAVE BIRD.

Yeah, the battle was like GREAT to say the least. The disadvantage here was something unreal! Maybe in the future Billi changes his challenge to make it...well challenging! Granted he had to give brownie points to the man for the creativity of it all. Though the syther was taken out and the ant returned to pull it out of the battle field, though Leavany wasn’t going down! She was ready! Pulling up their leaf blade they parried the skarmory and quickly went to slash down it’s wings.

Taking the brunt of the assault from multiple pokemon causes the Skarmory to collapse shortly after the Scyther’s defeat. Hendrix is quick to recall the steel bird in a beam of red light before looking back to billi.

”Lyger, Durandal, combo time!” he calls out to the incineroar and doublade.

Giving a brisk nod, the Incineroar unleashes a flamethrower upon the leavanny while the doublade simultaneously melds into the shadow of the ongoing fire to appear behind the grassy bug to push it into the fire from behind.
