it was a dare to see how quick he can catch pokemon in the safari zone, but upon getting to the place, kyle finds a lack of motivation to owe up to the challenge. he's not too bothered to fail anyways.

regardless of his thoughts, he had unfortunately already bought admission. while wasting money shouldn't be too much of an issue for someone of his status, his habit of being practical and cheap gets him to actually make use of something he doesn't really need.

worst case scenario, he stays until he sees a shiny pokemon, he supposed.

he watches a herd of tauros rush by before him. a smile appears on his expression as he fondly reminisces one of his favorite people in the world. "yeah, that's a noah 'mon," he tells himself.

as soon as it's safe again, he whistles for his mightyena's attention for it to follow him. they start to finally move from the entrance to make good use of his money. he can just watch pokemon, but it's not really interesting after a few minutes.

a lot of smaller pokemon linger in the safari zone, though that's not much of a surprise. at this point, kyle just assumes that every pokemon in this safari zone was just some breeders reject babies and was from a box full of hatchlings they just emptied.

a buneary comes along, prompting kyle to observe it from afar. the mightyena stops from its tracks as well to copy his trainer. there doesn't seem to be any birth defect from the buneary though. kyle scratches the back of head afterwards to form more conspiracy theories in his head.

the duskoll appears to stroll by in the middle of the day. kyle and his pokemon stare at it long enough since it doesn't seem to fit the setting, especially since it appeared with the wrong time of the day.

when it sees the mightyena, the dark-type shows its fangs at the ghost-type, threatening it. the duskull runs away at the sight, and before the mightyena can give chase, kyle whistles for him to stop.

maybe he'll get one before their trip ends, he muses.

they go along the stroll, and kyle is yet to find anything he would have wanted, he spots one that he knows someone might use, however.

the chimchar plays on its own like a weirdo that has no friends. maybe it has them and the pokemon was just lost or something. regardless, kyle's attention was taken by the fire-type.

"he probably could use this," he ponders.

he whistles for his mightyena and directs him to the chimchar with a jerk of his head. the action taken by the dark-type is quick, as he sprints towards the fire-type with haste.

thunder fangs grab the chimchar after the mightyena lunges at it and tosses it in the air like a ragdoll. taken in by shock, the chimchar is unable to react properly until the pokeball hits its face.

kyle picks up the pokeball containing the chimchar and starts to wonder what kind of name noah would give it should he give him the fire-type. he guesses some kind of regular name a middle aged person would have, like freddy or something.

the winds overhead breaks his thoughts, causing kyle to hold his head up to see what caused the air currents to suddenly blow towards them. the sight of a drampa gets kyle to cringe as its shadow casts before him.

he's never quite found it normal to find that dragon flying.

the sound of a stampede gets heard once again, which is quite common given that the safari's current pokemon include taurus. they shouldn't be rare at all.

"we already caught a noah mon," he tells his mightyena. "might as well go all in, right?"

the mightyena barks in agreement before turning to the herd of taurus when he hears his trainer whistle. his eyes follow the finger that points at them, his tail raising up from excitement.

the dark-type fires a hyper beam at one of them from a distance. the herd disperses and separates from the point of impact, where a single taurus lays unconscious.

kyle approaches the normal-type and tosses a pokeball at it.

he collects the pokeball containing the taurus. part of him wonders if he'll even use it or if he'd just give this to noah like the chimchar. as he shrugs, he finds himself staring at a buneary.

the mightyena quickly swoops in between the wild pokemon and his trainer. his teeth show with the snarl as it tries to intimidate the buneary away. it works somehow, and the normal-type scurries out of their way quickly.
