Why were there no snowy mountains near Lavaridge?
Zac needed more ice Pokemon. When Alexei came by for a mock gym battle he'd been seriously put out by the snowy terrain. His Gible had done well, but certainly wasn't at home in the mountains. Luckily Eiscue didn't have to waddle around, but he couldn't keep relying on Absol to save him.
How can I open a Biome based gym if I don't have a field for every Biome?

Zac passed plenty of pokemon as he explored the twisting cavern. Clusters of Snoms huddled on high shelves or poked out of shallow burrows, and colony of hanging Begmite blinked slowly as he passed underneath. Zac found himself down a dead end, staring at a snoozing Mamoswine under a thick blanket of frost. He retreated carefully. "Maybe some other time."
What he really needed was something fast. A real threat in the snow, like Absol had been. That was the ideal combo. One fast and one strong. Damn. Maybe he should go back for the Mamoswine.
Claws and bright eyes flashed in the high ridges. Zac looked up, catching a glimpse of red feathers faint sounds of cracking and slurping. A Delibird? No. That's definitely a set of nesting ridges, but no way do Delibirds move that fast. Or have claws. Which only left one answer.
Zac readied a Pokeball, and with his other hand imitated the cry of a wounded Delibird. The Sneasel poked its head over the ridge, and Zac hurled the ball. The egg thief disappeared inside with a flash of light.
"Perfect! Now I, uh, just have to climb up and get it..."
