[attr="class","spiral"]The doors part open after a brief delay. Fernando's complex is immaculate, untouched upon first glance, but in it comes a plain sense of minimalism that lacks personality. Much like the Gym Leader's mindset, the Gym reflects that battles and contests of skill are strictly business.

Once Hendrix approaches the battlefield the intercom comes to life.

"Welcome to the Battle Frontier! Today's challenge will be the Time Attack challenge! The rules for the challenge are as follows: this will be squad battle format consisting of five Pokemon each. All Pokemon will be called upon at the same time until the last Pokemon on one side is rendered unable to battle."

A mechanical column sprouts out from the other end of the field. Numerous gears shift in accordance with the constant clicking until five Pokeballs are ejected from its nozzle. They come out in sequence revealing Lapras, Greninja, Abomasnow, Exploud, and Electrode.

"Battle routine set."

Fernando voices replaced the automatic teller over the PA. His Pokemon get into their practice formation, preparing to combat whatever team the enemy throws at them. They may not be able to adjust to everything they come across but their plan has always been simple: stick to the challenge.

The challenger is given the first move.

[attr="class","spiral"]Hendrix takes the time to setup which means little in the face of Fernando's strategy.

His Greninja, the most agile of the five, jumps onto the front lines to put up a MAT BLOCK which impedes both the SPIKES and INFERNO.

From behind, his Lapras takes the opportunity to sing its PERISH SONG. The eerie song does nothing by itself but as sure as the vibrations weave through the air, so does their lucid temptations. All Pokemon will faint in THREE POSTS.

His Electrode never quite stays in one spot. Its temperament to roll around on his side of the field makes it the hardest to hit. Its traction causes several SONIC BOOMS, sending shockwaves toward the enemy Abomasnow. They recognize the quick flaw to their plan.

His heavy hitters, Abomasnow and Exploud, take up their positions on the flank of Greninja's MAT BLOCK. Together, they release their own field wide attacks of BLIZZARD and BOOMBURST.

[attr="class","spiral"]The opponent's MAT BLOCK should come as no surprise. A mirrored Pokemon often leads to mirror matches. None of them are fazed as their attacks are interrupted.

Left unchecked, the Greninja, leaps back, furthering itself from the battle as it completes the hand signs needed for a SUBSTITUTE.

The INFERNO hits the Abomasnow, lighting in on fire, but its SNOW WARNING comes into play as it tries to shake itself free from the constant flames. A steady HAIL starts to proliferate the field. It responds with a disguised GRASS WHISTLE, a hitch pitch whisper of sounds that blend in with the constant sleet.

Likewise, the Lapras has no recourse against the pronged attack. As his backline, it's not meant to be mobile. But that's okay. The DISCHARGE hits true and the damage is too much just to shrug off. But that won't be enough to do it in. Up close and personal, the Lapras croons as the WOOD HAMMER meets the back of its head. The wailing pain of its SING should be enough to put the Pokemon to sleep.

The PSYCHIC blast hits the Exploud but it shrugs it off. It ignores its opponent and looks to charge at the Abomasnow that's trespassed onto their side of the field. Its large jaws open wide to take a big CRUNCH into the stocky Pokemon.

And, from another angle, the Electrode looks to converge, ROLLING OUT into tackle to same target.

[attr="class","spiral"]With Hendrix solely on the defensive, the tides of the battle shift.

His Rotom's DISCHARGE lands without issue, static spreading as it licks at those around the Abomasnow, but the ice doesn't conduct electricity as well as the Rotom would hope for. Its grass bristles pine up due to the static but otherwise it remains INGRAINED in place, looking to recover some of the health it's lost.

Lapras too covers their side of the field with a LIFE DEW.

From above, the Greninja fires off several WATER SHURIKENS at the fleeing Alakazam.

The Electrode never quite stops its ROLLOUT, veering off to the side as it shoot for the Rotom instead.

Lastly, his Exploud, turned around toward both the Alakazam, Greninja, and Rotom, unleashes a heavy BOOMBURST.

[attr="class","spiral"]Their conjoined attacks whittle down on the Exploud. Had it taken some more damage over the battle then surely it would've felled to a concentrated attack. However, that remains to be seen. When it slumps over, it appears to be knocked out, but a moment later it opens up with a loud snore as it sneaks in some REST.

The rest of Fernando's Pokemon, with the exception of his Electrode, faint in unison as the PERISH SONG settles in.
