MT. PYRE: PSYCHIC/GHOST TYPES

Springtime blossomed, and the colors of flowers poked optimistically through the fog that began to shroud the bottom of Mt. Pyre. 

This was their second day on the trail; an excursion of the spiritual sort. For comfort and the occasion, modest sandals adorned typically designer-heeled feet. The sparkling staff which carved into the earth and pulled her forward, however, was extra as fuck.

A floette levitated on the breeze easily, swirling around the woman’s head and dancing with long pink tails, while an aloof eevee kept pace. They headed for the graves of Mt. Pyre, passing confidently through a thin but cleared path.

The last time he's on Mt. Pyre was when he was on a battle with shadow Lugia. The event was memorable, especially with the permanent dents and excavations its attacks against his Lunala has caused. Fortunately, no one pin-pointed out the cause of such errosion and people blamed it with the supernatural instead.

“Ey!”

Valerio greets with enthusiasm. Her getup reminds him of the poor girl (chryssa glasgow) who got injured during the burning of the Arceus church. Why is it always he's being followed by occult girls?

The eevee at her feet whirled to view the man, while Eiwa moved more like a slow willow tree in the wind. Hemoglobin eyes took Valerio in almost lazily. “Hello—”

A childlike scream then echoed eerily through the woods, and then again, and again, getting closer with each shrill cry. It seemed to be circling them, as it came from a different direction with each pass. 

“It's a phantump.” The woman announced to her company, as though to save them from any fright. She cooed, “We are no threat, spirit.” Her voice was gentle like the cool fog. 

Eventually, the pokemon allowed itself to be seen, levitating out of a bush slowly and blinking at them. While the eevee was not as trusting, the floette left the pair and went to dance in the air around the ghost, startling it back some. 

“It's alright.” Eiwa began to take a few steps in the pokemon’s direction, her eyes meeting with it in a way that showed no fear. A long-nailed hand reached confidently out towards it, eventually drawing it towards her. Fingers went to brush down the wooden texture of the soul snatcher’s face. “I know you are lost. Come with me and I will help you.” She said it low to the creature, as though no one was around to hear.

After a shared moment, she looked up at the man who had called out to her before. “My name is Eiwa. Are you going to visit the graves?”

Valerio observes how the lady treats the wild ghost with caution. While such an act is not strangely uncommon, he is bothered by how humans treat pokemon like they are some kind of god or deity. At least, what he sees with this woman is that she's treating the phantump more like a lost child.

“Nope, I'm here to train actually.”

He nods at the passing elgyem in the vicinity, as the creature blinks away in fear of the human company.

Eiwa’s staff sank a hair deeper into the dirt at his response and she stood slightly taller. Her posture was a defensive one, as though she might stand up to the stranger.

“So close to sacred ground?” There was a disdainful edge to her tone, but before she could continue any further, the sight of a ball of MYSTICAL FIRE heading for their heads caused her eyes to go wide. 

“Look out!” She ducked, seeming to come to life from the previous slowness of her movements. Her head turned in towards her staff, chin tucked. Only a few hairs were singed as they fell behind. 

She looked back up. Delphox. She’d had one, and it had died in the temple’s fire. A glance was cast to Valerio, and then she decided her previous judgment was overruled by her need for the powerful fox pokemon. 

A hand came out to command the flower which had dodged out of the way just in time as well, but before the pokemon could launch into a battle it would be at a disadvantage in, the newest team member took matters into its own hands. 

Eiwa watched, surprised as the flames of WILL-O-WISP shot through the air, black and purple and sinister, making contact with the Delphox. When it was knocked off guard, Eiwa reached for a pokeball, seemingly out of nowhere (there were plenty of tricks if you were fashionably inclined) and tried her luck.

As the pokeball rocked, she shot a look to Valerio as though to say ‘not a word of my hypocrisy.’

Valerio is eager to listen, and with the gaze she gives him the man replies with a taunting grin.

“And to catch pokemons.” He shots a wink, a playful demeanor he carries before his attention is shifted to the the palossand.

The terrain is not sandy, but the creature finds itself comfortable above the rocky, misty landform. He releases the first one from his team—a dragonite—who starts flapping its wings and forming a HURRICANE, trapping its corporeal form as he reaches a pokeball from his pocket.

“Since you do it also, I guess it's okay, right?”

Eiwa merely craned her chin a touch and looked down the bridge of her nose, not one to be teased. Her gaze softened, however. The woman made a point not to hold a frown, although her face wasn’t exactly beaming either.

“If you are doing it for the right reasons, sure.” There was the tight-lipped smile and she then went to pick up the pokéball which contained her new Delphox. She held it in her hand a moment longer, thinking of the last moment she’d seen her last—flames in its eyes before they disappeared. Her fingers gripped the capsule tighter before stowing it away. 

It was then that a Trevenant made itself known. Seemingly, it knew the Phantump which had decided to join Eiwa’s party. The smaller ghost left the woman’s side to go and communicate with the haunted tree, which had initially been eyeing them rather threateningly. Eiwa watched, focusing on words in her own head which she pushed mentally towards the ghosts, silently attempting to deliver a message that would likely fall on deaf minds. 

Noneless, the Phantump would hopefully be able to persuade the tree to join them.
