Grubbin doesn’t care that he’s been left alone here for the day. Grubbin doesn’t care that he’s surrounded by other pokemon he doesn’t know. And Grubbin certainly doesn’t care for that weird smelling food pellets that the daycare assistant-personal-maid-lady is offering to him, either. [break][break]

All Grubbin cares about is digging. And in this great stretch of green grass, he’s found the perfect spot to create his masterpiece, a tunnel that will reach from one continent to the next; tucked away in the shade on this beautiful, perfect digging weather day.[break][break]

He sticks his head into the dirt and starts to burrow, mud flying everywhere. Alola, here we come baby!

Maybe the 'Jaws' theme should be playing.

Snaps had found himself a really good place to nap. It was shady. Muddy. Just the perfect consistency to relax and take a nice nap. With all the running around his Trainer did, like, this was a vacation!

Then there was skittering and sounds of his precious mud being moved around.

From below Grubbin comes a great shaking and tremor. The mud shifts and moves, until Snaps is standing tall and still half submerged in the hole he had dug out for himself a while ago- his nap time now ruined. The Krokorok tries to grab for the larva pokemon, huffing lightly.

He flies through the air, not with a cry but with a furious Grubbin-scowl and with snapping pincers – furious! [break][break]

Someone had already taken the spot as their own and now the beginnings of the tunnel that he had started to create was completely caved in, stolen by the Krokorok and made even deeper by his unhelpful waking! So rude! Did he not know that having the satisfaction of burrowing on your own, clawing out your own path, was half the fun? Now he was going to have to start over. [break][break]

Grasped in its claws, Grubbin clicks; “Oi! You’re in my spot! Now I’m going to have to start digging all over again! Hmph, the nerve of some pokemon!”

Someone was honestly a straight up imbecile who forgot this thread existed, like the fool they are, and they should be punished for their crimes.

This person was not Snaps, who was more occupied with the wiggling grub held between his claws. He snorted, blowing dust on the smaller pokemon as he did, and rolled his eyes at it's quibbling. Honestly, he kind of tuned it out. The easiest solution would be to fling it as far as he could and then lay back down for his nap. No doubt by the time it even made it back over to him it would be time for him to leave.

Yet, instead, he found himself staring deeply at the Grubbin... it was.... adorable....

So Snaps instead very gently put the smaller pokemon down. He wanted to pet it. Was this how his human felt when he saw something cute?

"I was napping here first." Is all he eventually replied, a claw sticking out to try and poke the Grubbin on the head, his version of giving a pet.

Arceus, this one was s l o w. The pokemon, not the 'someone'. [break][break]

Grubbin wiggles furiously in the offender’s claw, clicking his tiny pincers in what might be construed as a string of foul curses in morse code. Krokorok doesn’t let go, no matter how much he huffs and puffs – the curse of having a tiny, fragile body – but the digger was not to be intimidated by the larger pokemon’s strong grip![break][break]

“Are you going to let me go?! I’m on a tight schedule!” [break][break]

Thankfully, he’s eventually let go but not before the Krokorok pokes a claw against his head. Grubbin is squished into the grass by the (obviously unintentional) difference in strength, the pat rattling his small bug skull.[break][break]

“%£*&!!!” [break][break]

Grubbin nips the assaulting paw. Unfortunately, the difference in size persists. And so, to a pokemon as large as the one before him, his attack was nothing more than something resembling a love nibble, rather than the ferocious chomp the Grubbin was going for….

Snaps makes a pleased but surprised noise at the nibble; The Grubbin is correct, in that the love nip didn't do much. Really, it was just kind of biting at his claw anyway which didn'tf feel like too much. He continued to poke at the Grubbin to 'pet' it, which was probably terrible for the poor, poor thing. Snaps even leaned down so he was laying on his stomach, to get eye to eye with the smaller pokemon.

"Adorable." He muttered, clearly not paying attention to what the smaller pokemon was saying at all. Tight schedule? Curse words? Why need these things when one could simply be pet all day. What could a Grubbin even have to do?

Grubbin continues his assault for a little longer before, clamped in the Krokorok’s claw, his struggles started to wear his energy levels down. Gradually wilting, albeit with his head still stubbornly held high. “Oof.” He’s continued to be pet on the head despite his protests, stuck in its grip with no means of escape. “Ow. Stop.” It doesn’t seem like the Krokorok has any intention on ceasing its unwanted affections, even getting on the ground for reasons that puzzle the Grubbin. [break][break]

“Damnit. Does it look like I’m enjoying this?” One last shot made to get him to back off.[break][break]

It’s only then, when he’s called adorable, that Grubbin appears to lose his feral edge. If he had shoulders, they would slump. (In a strong and dignified manner, of course.) [break][break]

“I’m never going to make it to Alola…” He sighs, ~~dramatically~~ wistfully.

The claws was removed, reluctantly, at the final protest. Snaps didn't understand a whole lot of things in general, least of all what exactly was happening here, but he did give a small shrug and start to draw a crude depiction of the Grubbin in the dirt.

"You're too little and weak to get to Alola. Just get big and strong. Then you can be like me and do whatever you want." He seemed proud of this as he said this. The best part, for Snaps, was he could still get even bigger, he just needed his own time to be able to do so.

"But after you get tough? You could probably make it there in, like, a day. Maybe even half that if you didn't take juice breaks."

“I’ll show you… I’ll show you little and weak!” Grubbin huffed, suddenly filled with a newfound determination. If this were an animated television show, his eyes would become alive with sparks of flame, burning bright in the face of adversity. “Just you watch. I’ll get stronger right now! No juice breaks necessary!”[break][break]

And with that, Grubbin begins to dig right there and then, starting a new hole right next to where the Krokorok had burst out of the ground none two minutes earlier. Spraying dirt in the other pokemon’s direction as he furiously started anew, dreams of victory and Alolan sunshine in his mind. [break][break]

Unfortunately for Grubbin, that’s when his trainer returns to pick him up… [break][break]

Alola would have to wait for another day.
