kyle was out here hunting out dwagons because taurus weren't enough for oldale to experience. he has a hunting dog to help him since it's thematic, though it wasn't really needed since kyle has been chasing it directly after it's most recent attack.

the mightyena has it's laser focus up, ready to strike the moment opportunity presents itself. kyle has it on standby, waiting for it to get further away from town where destruction wouldn't matter much.

"okay, i think we're clear," he tells his mightyena when the trembles from a dragon-type's stomping has ceased from ahead of them.

liepard ♂: limber - slash, night slash, nasty plot, play rough, sucker punch, taunt

cait had proven herself to be just as stealthy as her canine-loving counterpart, taking care to step through the confines of the forest without generating much in the way of noise. her liepard remained within her company as she stalked, his senses slightly strained as he remained alert.

"..."

she had tensed up as the presence of a dragon-type was felt, the woman itching to reach for the pokeballs at her belt. and her body froze in partial shock when she had inevitably came across kyle, the man and his mightyena companion slipping into view.

"... kyle?"

her voice came out as a whisper, the woman careful to control her volume in such a setting.

"cait?" he responds in a similar tone.

the call of his name rings from a familiar voice. his disappointment over the snitching she did had faded over time, though it can be attributed more to him moving on previous grievances to worry about more important, less petty, things.

"you look much better than the last time we met," he quips, hinting to aqua initiative. "you should've seen how two of you we-"

kyle stops himself before making a sharp turn to the direction of the dragon. the objective was still clear, and catching up has to come second to what he was here for.

"you're here for the dragon too, right?" he asks. "wanna take the first move?"

her eyes immediately narrow as he mentioned their most recent encounter.

"now what is that suppose to mean?"

her question lacks an immediate answer as their focus shifts toward the prowling dragon. her feline bunches up his muscles in preparation for what was likely to follow, crouching slightly as his thin tail stiffens behind him.

"sure."

cait allows the subject to be dropped in the wake of the distraction, her eyes narrowing upon the target.

"you're not in a fit of rage for the most part," he chimes bluntly in an attempt to jest. he wonders if the reference will go through.

to see her so violent wasn't unexpected, but the reasons behind it were. perhaps kyle was just unaware of the drama between them, or that he just subconsciously doesn't care about interpersonal relationships between people around him. nevertheless, he's glad that he's not caught in the crossfire back then.

eventually, what seemed to be just one dragon to be dispatched revealed itself to be a whole pack of them. kyle grumbles at how the difficulty for the task suddenly spiked.

"do you want to divvy this up instead?" he asks as he watches the dragon-type pokemon continue to run around. "i thought were only handling one, and the mons i brought weren't suited for crowds."

he chuckles awkwardly. he'd probably still be able to handle it, though dealing with more than one was too much effort for him.

"are those - ?"

her eyes rounded in alarm at the malformed creatures that could be appropriately described as 'abominations'. such beasts were blended together, two strings of dna forcibly combined to produce such an oddly-proportioned pokemon. the mere sight of it caused her to grimace lightly in disgust despite cait possessing two of her own. but she had only taken them in to ensure that they were rendered sterile within her care.

"i'll even the odds."

she reached for her belt, thankful she had the foresight to bring pokemon capable of defending themselves against a multitude of dragons. one of her abomasnow emerged from its respective capsule, their thick arms raised threateningly at the pack of ancient raptors.

"ice punch."

the pokemon lurched forward with passable speed despite its superior size, thrusting out a fist that was covered in a potent layer of chilled energy. the meaty and fur covered limb slammed into one, effectively knocking it off balance.

"night slash."

her liepard rushed toward another dracozolt, slashing fiercely at their flank.

the appearance of an ice-type comforts kyle. before he gets amused by just watching, he immediately switches his view to the side, where another party of dracozolts start to notice the assault and charge at them.

"we're taking this side," he tells his mightyena before releasing another one. "hidden power. play rough."

a burst of energy gets released in a wave towards the dracozolt's tiny upper body, hitting a critical portion of its anatomy from the mightyena's laser focus. it staggers to a side before its uneven proportions throw it off balance.

the other mightyena lunges for the dracozolt and topples over it with its attack. it wrestles it with its preemptive strike, though the dracozolt is quick to hit back with another bolt beak, throwing it away.

a third dracozolt comes in to aid the first one, dragon rushing in to charlie to knock him back where foxtrot already laid. both of the mightyena try to get back on their feet, snarling back at the dracozolt.

kyle scratches his head. maybe he was coddling them too much lately.

the sound of electricity crackling through the air served as the prelude to a yowl of agony, a energized beak jabbing downward and striking the dark-type feline. her abomasnow faired better as the battle progressed, the hefty beast flexing their muscles and wielding their superior bulk as they administered another blow; retaliation coming in the form of a slam that harshly struck the giant's belly.

cait shouted her orders, her eyes sharp and taking in the scene to ensure her pokemon were fairly matched against the combined threats of two unnaturally cobbled together specimens. her hand reached for her belt as the one abomasnow enemy visibly weakened, the woman intent on capturing and removing at least one of the dragons from the local ecosystem.

one fled after receiving a well-placed scratch to the eye, liepard aiming for a sensitive organ in a desperate bid to bring the battle to an early conclusion through an admittedly cheap method. the other trembled as ice clung to its form, briefly stunned by the cold of a blizzard.

if there was something kyle had to compliment his mightyena on, it was their guts and their hardiness in a fight. quickly recovering back to their feet, kyle doesn't need to issue more commands for his pokemon to continue the fight.

he suppresses one of the dracozolts with a throw of a pokeball, allowing them to continue without a numbers disadvantage.

another play rough from one gets it down to the ground, while a hidden power right at its head gives one a significant enough concussion that it guarantees it to black out for a good amount of time.

surprisingly enough, the pokeball on the third registers as a capture.

"that's it for me then," he turns to cait. "i'm calling the rangers to clean up for us, maybe relocate them somewhere else."

he dial the number of the ranger hq so they can connect contact the nearest outpost instead of him since he's not sure of where it is. as the phone rings, he turns back to the former gym leader.

"oh yeah, can you help me with keeping the rest in pokeballs so the rangers can transport them easier later?"
