No matter what thoughts or experiences she may have, Eris always finds a sense of peace when travelling in the great unknown, natural locations untouched by man and teaming with life yet to be observed. Today's little fieldtrip to Route 119 is no exception, a notebook in hand and survival kit in her backpack as she stride in rhythm to Reiner's footsteps. What kind of mysteries they'll stumble upon this time, she doesn't quite know. But perhaps, she doesn't need to think too hard on it.

The bird pokemon were chirping in the distance, the wind was blowing through the trees, the water crashing against the edge of the river nearby, it was simply perfect. Ever aware of the world around her, Ruby let out a quiet breath and sighed heavily as she relaxed completely. [break][break]

The firepit had just been dug outside her tent and it was time for a break from the manual labor. Setting up the campsite whenever she moved was always a bit of a chore, but the experience of being so involved in the world around her was something she imagined some people only wish they could do. People were tied down by jobs or responsibilities, and right now she didn't have any of that. All she needed to do was just enjoy the free time she had.[break][break]

With the tent flaps open, Ruby sat atop her cot and just let out a soft sigh once more as her eyes closed. Intending to meditate as she often does, Ruby let her mind wander as she simply relaxed.[break][break]

Of course, to an outside observer from the wrong angle, her campsite that had only been half set up might appear to falsely be abandoned. Not the sound of music, footsteps or even Pokemon disturbed her silence. Or at least, not yet anyway.

Strange things sighted!

It isn't too far into her little expedition that Eris spies an odd clearing in the distance and by odd, she means she's found a seemingly abandoned campsite up ahead! Though the firepits aren't quite stoked and silence fills the air, Reiner knows better than to simply let the child run up ahead without a plan in mind. And he's right about his hunches, catching a strangely familiar whiff of human and spying a strange figure right through the tent fabric.

However, such signs aren't enough for him to let down his guard, a soft growl rumbling as he signals for Eris to stick close. Knowing that she probably won't leave the area till her curiosity has been satiated, he reckons it's better for him to lead the way in the even that this is some kind of ambush by some crafty League personnel. His mane bristles with static, a stoicness held in his gaze as his claws dig into the earth.

Just as they round the corner, Eris jumps, pointing at the not-so-stranger as her eyes gleam with joy.

It wasn't uncommon to hear Pokemon walking or flying past her campsite, but actually entering her camp was an entirely different circumstance. Most wild pokemon didn't actually intend to hurt anyone, likely just wanted a snack or two. Regardless, her fingers ever so slowly drifted to Whisper's Pokeball that always rested on her hips. She had experienced too much-unexpected danger in the region to not have at least a little bit of an itchy Pokeball-tossing finger.[break][break]

Perhaps that metaphor really only worked with guns. Oh well. [break][break]

However, with the sound and sights of Eris, Ruby immediately relaxed and let out a sigh of relief. With a quiet chuckle, Ruby quickly climbed out of her tent. "Well hey there lil' stranger. You out camping too?"

What seems to be an accusatory ramble soon devolves into a lost train of thought, the girl calming down just seconds after flaring up. It's time like these where Reiner feels a little worried for the sanity of his trainer, a light growl and a nudge of her shoulders followed by a polite nod towards Ruby.

"I was wandering the area while looking cool stuff to note down! Didn't expect to see you living here!"

She'd point in a few different directions as she'd speak. "That way is the Weather Institute! And over somewhere over there, is the river! If you follow it down, you'll eventually find this massive waterfall! Just be careful not to get too close, huh? It's a bit flooded this time of year."[break][break]

"But aye, I like to travel around a lot! While I can, you know? Camping in the woods is one of my favorite things to do! If you're still in the area when night falls, you can always share my campsite if you want! Do you have a tent, dear?"

Weather Institute? Now that was something that she hadn't heard about before! Jotting down the landmarks on the small section of Hoenn's map that she's pasted across her book's pages, Eris is listening close to the details shared.

"What do they do at the Weather Institute other than look at clouds? Do they check out the stars? Do they have a giant observatory?"

How she misses the night sky and its sparkling adornments, the cool metal of the telescope upon her fingertips as she traces the constellations above. It's almost as chilling as the thought of a flooded river, crimson gaze refocusing on the girl before her as she thinks on the offer.

"I don't really have a tent. I haven't camped in the wild since..." Reiner curls his tail around her arm, a gesture she deeply appreciates from the bottom of her heart. "I lost my camping gear a while back. Wasn't the best either, to be honest... Are you not from Hoenn? To be travelling a lot and all?"

"No stars there! You want to check out the Space Center in Mossdeep! The Weather Institute, well, studies the weather! But it is really cool, you know! With the so-called 'Weather-Trio' legendary pokemon here in Hoenn, it makes sense to try and understand it better!" [break][break][

Ruby paused as Eris continued to speak. Did they not remember when they last went camping? To be fair, they were quite young. She couldn't expect them to remember everything. "Oh, no not at all! I'm actually from the Galar Region, you know! I grew up there all my life. I only came to Hoenn two years ago. You know, on my Pokemon adventure and all that? It's really fun, but it is kind of tough sometimes too." [break][break][

No need to talk about the difficulties and dangers. Definitely, not the time. Any kid trusted to run around all by their lonesome had to understand at least something, in this day and age anyway.[break][break][

Eventually, a thought slowly dawned on her. Her eyes widened as she blinked at Eris. "... You know, if you wanted to. You could always stay in my tent if you want! It's big enough for both me and a little girl like you. You don't have to, but I figured the offer would be nice!"

There was a space center in Mossdeep? That's something she hasn't heard about either, then again she'd never been looking for it in particular. Perhaps, an exploration of Mossdeep was in order.

Sometimes, she finds herself missing the bird choir in the first breaths of spring. It's probably a sensation along those lines.

She wasn't really sure. Whatever the case was, Ruby simply gave Eris a soft smile as she was turned down. It was understandable, although camping with the young girl would have certainly been fun.[break][break]

"Fair enough! You know, I wish I had explored the world at your age! I didn't leave home till I was 16, you know. There's still so much to the world that I've never seen, but I'd love to one day!" She'd slowly sit down on the edge of her cot from within her tent, approximately more at eye level now. [break][break]

As she asked about anything cool, Ruby paused and thought for a few moments. "Well, nothing I haven't seen before. But I've been around a lot more! Have you ever seen a Castform, Eris? They're incredibly unique Pokemon, that changes appearances, and even types based on the weather! And on top of that, they were artificial! You know, kind of like Porygon! They have a few near the Weather Institute that you could probably take a peek at!"
