"I got, like, a crystal bitch that seems to want to keep me alive for... some vague and probably nefarious reason. If it's in my house, I'm making it pay rent." Rent, of course, being keeping him alive when he did stupid shit.

Gavin's laugh is strangled.

"That crystal bitch wiped out most of my Pokemon and nearly killed me; I'd bet it's definitely nefarious."

He's convinced that it's Necrozma inhabiting his friend's body. He'd only seen those black crystals in the wormhole and on the shadow Pokemon the beast had created. Plus, it seemed obsessed with the fragment Gavin possessed.

He wants to stop from pursuing another deadly Pokemon but knows he can't.

"Just — be careful," he repeats with a sigh. "We're not ready to lose you yet."

He opens his mouth, clearly with more to say, when an announcement for his next match rings out across the beach. He looks toward the source, instinctive, then back to Chu-e. His smile is pained, and he briefly touches the other's shoulder before departing.
